i adore this place! my boyfriend introduced me to it about a month ago, i was hesitant because the building looked a little shady, but i was pleasantly surprised! the food was delightful and the service was wonderful; i've been bugging him to take me back!

omg, can i live here??. i really want to live in this place, it is my favorite restaurant in town. they make thai food how it is supposed to be, hot and intense flavour. i would marry into this family just to get their recipes, its just that damn good. seating and parking is the main problem, best bet is to order take out.

dining area is too cozy, not enough tables for such a great place. service was good. i don't think there is really anything on their menu that wouldn't taste good. this restaurant makes other thai restaurants want to step their game up.

yum!. the first time my boyfriend took me here, i was completely surprised how awesome the food was! it doesn't look like much from the outside, but the food is so amazing! love the coconut rice. i really like spicy food, and it seems a lot of places advertise their food as being "spicy" but i find it's anything but. at syphay the food is nice and spicy exactly how i love it and it's perfect!!!

secret. i love that i know about syphay. part of me wishes that no one else could find out about it... it's that good. i have yet to eat something i didn't like. i love taking friends there for the first time, as they walk up and wonder wtf this dive is. and then we're inside and the staff is friendly and the food is awesome. it's a great little secret.

excellent. one of the comments that directed me to syphay wasn't the positive comments, but a negative one. you know you're in good hands when the only negative comment says the food was too spicy! one of my favourite places in edmonton, this food had some kick but still had a wide range of flavours in every option you choose from. fantastic! they've found a long term repeat customer in me.

authentic and amazing. i went to try the food at syphay house based on reviews on urbanspoon. i chose it over 'the king and i' restaurant because, from the reviews, the quality of the food is apparently so much better - despite the very humble building of syphay.

i am so glad for my choice, because i was amazed. i absolutely loved the food. it was comparable to my other favorite thai restaurant in edmonton (pad thai) that recently shut down to move to b.c. i have indeed found my new favorite thai place. don't let the humble building scare you off. the food is authentic and delicious. the flavor is incredibly impressive and varies from dish to dish.

we had the red chicken curry with coconut rice as one of our dishes and it was the best curry i've ever had anywhere, and i have eaten at several thai places. i also enjoyed the satay chicken and beef skewers. the meat spring rolls were also very crunchy and delicious. i could go on.

the prices were also incredibly reasonable. we were two people and dined like kings for half the price as we likely would have at 'the king and i'.

the interior is humble but well done, with nice thai music playing. i also found the service to be friendly, relaxed, and accomodating. i can't wait to go back.

love it.. driving past this little place you would never think to go into it, it looks like an abandoned house on calgary trail.
however, the food is excellent. very tasty, the portions are ample and we always end up taking our leftovers home. i am making my way through their curry list and have not been disappointed yet. my bf loves their pad thai. their coconut rice is to die for and we always get more than we need so we can take some home :d

the service is fine, i have no complaints there.
as long as you are going for the food and the exterior and interior (very err 70's?) are not the be all and end all of your dining experience, then it is well worth a visit.

tasty!. this is our go-to spot for thai food. reasonable prices, big portions and very tasty. space is limited and the restaurant is a bit small, but the food is outstanding.

it was pretty good!. seemed like the reviews for this place were good, so it was the first place i tried while in edmonton. looks like an old house on the outside, but inside it was a nice place, with lots of authentic thai decorations. even the dinnerware was ornate and sort of a bronzish color.

i had the chicken + shrimp pad thai. there was one young woman working the place...which was not busy at all since i came in after 8 pm. she was nice, but man kinda slow and i'd have to rate the service at a 3 out of 5.

but, it's the food we come for, and it did not disappoint. i say go there.

now, if you want to visit a "thai" place that is so bad it's unholy...then go to "the king and i"

but don't say i didn't warn you!

made my wife happy!. we were supposed to come here months ago but lrt constructions tied us up and we had to pass. this place was worth the wait. we had the thai-lao salad, tom kha kai soup (slightly spicy chicken with coconut milk and lemongrass i think), and another chicken dish that i don't remember the name. it's the one after the red and green curry chicken on the menu. it too had a nice bit of spice and was absolutely delightful. as with other reviews i've read about this place the decor is not exactly eyecatching but the it's the food that counts. i'd come back here in a heartbeat and will definitely recommend this place to my friends.
