syphay restaurant

ahh... the best thai food i've ever had? or was it laos? i don't know. it just tasted good.. being the cynical ol' me - yeah it was greasy / salty and theservicecould've been better.

but.

sometimes other things such as quality, taste, flavor, and variety overtake all the negative things and turn me into this biased monster praising this place.

you know, i barely knew what was on the menu because it was all raw text but i got the fried rice, the pad maow, the pad thai, green curry, deep fried curry chicken, and some spicy seafood curry dish. everything tasted outstanding. there was a really deep, concentrated, asian flavor to all of the dishes. in fact it was so pungent you can almost only appreciate it if you are from these countries.

the portions were small but the grease/salt fills you up. if you have health problems please stay away, you won't appreciate any of this. everyone else though, come give yourself a treat!

comparing to other malaysian/thai-type restaurants, tropika can kiss my ***, viphalay was good but not syphay house good, thai restaurant in causeway bay hk didn't taste that impressive, and boun thai... yeah i'm not even gonna go there - both figuratively and literally.

this place is small and looks like a dump from the outside and the inside with water dripping into buckets and so forth, but none of the customers seemed to care, and neither did i. so if you are a person that wants atmosphere, stay far, far away.

the wait can be long and treacherous so do make a reservation for the weekends. people seem to know about this place and want to keep it a secret from everyone... not no more!

not sure about the food, but the customerserviceseems pretty bad. they keep the open sign on, yet lock the door with no sign whatsoever.

i had the beef pad sew, which was okay - the noodles though were all chopped up and the there were too many sprouts. there were ingredients i never found in this dish normally. my husband took the shrimp pad thai and i really didn’t like the sauce. the food was very saltt and i don’t feel it tasted authentic. portions are big and prices reasonable.
i recommend the syphay platter to share- it was good.serviceis very slow, i had to get up and ask for water otherwise they would have never came. would i return to this place; no.

honestly this is my favorite thai restaurant in edmonton. i have been coming here even before they did their renovations. this restaurant is tucked away in a little house in calgary trail and you would never expect the amazing food that you'll get inside.

the food is just brilliantly consistent and cooked to perfection. the tom yum soup with basa fish... oh my goodness. it is amazing. the food is on the sweeter side but i prefer it that way. the pad thai is just amazing as is with all the curries.

the ladies are wonderful here, so friendly. i heard that the kitchen consists of just two cooks and two woks! the only thing i can negatively comment on is that sometimesserviceis a bit slow if they're short on staff and it's a busy night but it's so worth the wait! the ladies are wonderful and i love coming here!

amazing food!. i go to tropika next door quite often and never really noticed this place until i walked out to the parking lot at one point.
anyways, i looked at their snazzy looking website and decided to give them a try this afternoon for lunch with friends. the lunch special is a great deal, you pay $13.50 for a full meal and 4 delicious spring rolls. the atmosphere was nice, the place was small but cozy and theservicewas phenomenal. i would definitely recommend this place to anyone!

best thai in edmonton. love love, love, love syphay! the pad thai is the best pad thai i have ever had. i can also vouch for the gang garee and their signature dessert. amazing. also, i've seen a few reviews about bad service, but everytime i have gone, to both locations, i have received excellentservicefrom attentive, helpful, and welcoming staff.

just like thailand. most authentic thai food i've had in edmonton. i have been to thailand a few times and love the food. whenever i'm getting a craving for massaman curry i head here. pad thai has perfect sweet/spicy mix.servicecan be a bit slow but worth the wait. happy that they have opened a 2nd location downtown so i don't have to venture across the whole city to get my thai fix.

excellent!. a friend and i were going to go to thanh thanh but they are closed for their annual vacation, so we decided to try this new restaurant. we were in for a treat!

we ordered the syphay platter as an appetizer and the minute i bit into the spring roll i was sure we had chosen wisely. these are even better than the imperial rolls at our original destination! the pineapple shrimp pockets and garlic shrimp were excellent too so, even with the standard sweet chilli sauce the appetizer was a hit.

for mains we got a beef green curry, coconut rice and a really fantastic pad ped moo. theservicewas excellent too. i'd go back right now but they are not open on sundays.

really enjoyed the 'hole in the wall' experience. theservicewas friendly and well timed... but sadly, the food was quite bland. ( i ordered the pad thai). really wish the experience had been
different!

it's has decent thai food yes but theserviceis lacking! i have gone multiple times over the years and theservicehas worsened. i'd rather go to viphalay even though the portions are slightly smaller. at least viphalay has great thai food and service!

i love you syphay!. i have been going to syphay for years and it is by far one of my favourite places to eat. i have been to thailand and specifically made a point of trying to find a better pad thai or tom yuhm. i failed.serviceis fast and friendly and the atmosphere is perfect. love this place.

unbelievable food! best thai food i've had. the exterior of the building is awful and the interior isn't much better, but don't judge this book by its cover. theserviceis a bit inconsistant, sometimes a bit slow, but well worth the wait once the amazing food arrives!

best thai food in edmonton. the food here is awesome. don't let the outside scare you away. very clean inside and the food is well worth it. been here many many times and never had a bad dish. waitresses are extremely friendly.serviceis fairly quick also. try it! you'll love it!

excellent and authentic thai in edmonton. definitely my #1/2 slightly behind boualong. pad thai has the perfect combo of flavor and spice. pineapple fried rice is also solid.serviceis friendly enough without being overbearing. restaurant looks run down sketchy from the outside but don't let this stop you from trying it out!
