sweet belem seems popular, always someone in there

my rating is what i ordered i believe because there is too many sweet options in here

tried the pineapple cake, strange texture and taste, not sure if i tasted any pineapple!

the chila tart was strange also,it looks like strings of shredded coconut but it isn't. it's sticky and stringy and has a strong taste which my taste buds didn't enjoy i

so far, pretty bad experience but i'll re review if i come back

this place is a cake heaven. the creme caramel had a nice silky texture with an amazing burnt caramel taste. also ordered the portuguese tarts which were light and crumbly. will definately be coming back for some more.

really bustling neighbourhood patisserie, i think this cafe is portuguese? but could be wrong. anyway ordered the lamington, portuguese tart and cinnamon snail. everything tasted like it should, but lacked the 'wow' factor for me. the pastry on the tart was sensational, but i didn't really enjoy the filing which was too sweet for me and would have been better served warm. overall worth a try 👍

best portuguese tarts in sydney by a long way...

-----31 may, 2013-----

as a local we have been to this cafe for years - ever since it opened. you don't go there for the coffee but the amazing and consistently delicious pastries. the nanas (portuguese tarts) are easily the best in sydney. other favourites are the twisted almond scrolls and the chocolate salami. it's a busy shop as its very popular. i highly recommend it.

a haven for portuguese tart lovers. the tart shell is wonderfully flaky crisp even when it is served cold. the gooey custard filling is light without the cloying feeling. 😍

aside from the traditional pastéis de nata, they also come in chocolate, salted caramel, almond, blueberry and raspberry flavour. there are also croissants, cakes, donuts and portuguese lamingtons etc which you can stop in and enjoy a coffee with. ☺️

the best portuguese tarts in sydney. i had bought them in the morning and had eaten them in the late afternoon, the pastry was still crispy.

unfortunately a bit disappointed from all the pasteries. the interior packed full of pasteries looked divine and we almost wanted to order one of everything however some were a hit and a miss. the chicken and beef pies were try and bland. but the pastry was very crispy as it were for all the portugese tarts. unfortunately a tad bit too sweet for me. the almond tart was the strangest for me.

the saving graces were the nutella donut (the bread was super soft), the salted caramel tart and the nutella lamington.

super yummy, pastry was delicious! the filling was definitely on the sweeter side (a tad too sweet for me) but i love the touch of the added cinnamon on top, beauty !!

8/10

1) portguese tarts - portugese tarts are custardy sweet and a hint of cinnamon. the pastry itself is amazing, so flaky

2) orange and cinnamon queijada - i believe it's a baked milk tart. the texture of this treat is super interesting, it's crustless and is soft but dense, a bit chewy??

seemed comparatively lightweight. the custard tart was bland except for the burnt pastry and loads of cinnamon, as was the nutty mousse thing, and the coffee was very weak, not much more than hot milk.

went for the portuguese tarts but love other things more. unique flavours for the cakes and 10/10 for that vanilla slice. it’s probably the best i’ve had.

the best portuguese tarts i've ever tried in sydney. i prefer to have my warm but still nice when they're cold. they sell out quickly which is the only downside. so, have to go early in the morning to get them.
would recommend and i would come back.
