the gem of east brisbane - never disappoints. what a place! cheap, quick, great service - and most importantly, fresh and delicious food.

the only suggestion that i would make is to include a vegetarian katsu curry on the menu, for the vegos who love the curry sauce.

after multiple recommendations from a close friend, i ventured to sushi kotobuki in south brisbane last friday, as a sort of reward for finishing the week. needless to say, i was very excited ☆*・゜゚・*\(^o^)/*・゜゚・*☆. initially we were skeptical with their offerings, but were both pleasantly surprised. usually, prior to going to a restaurant for the first time, i have a practice of finding the menu online and perusing it to ascertain whether i like what they offer, in addition to affordability of the food. normally for long established places it isnt that hard to find a menu, but i was unsuccessful in my quest. so for my dear readers, i have taken the liberty of taking a snap of the menu if any of you are interested: between the two of us, we ordered the following: lion king roll salmon sashimi ヽ( ★ω★)ノ spider roll unagi and two salmon hand rolls kotobuki roll there are several things that i usually rate a sushi joint on; first and foremost is the freshness of the fish. given the huge lin

don't believe all the 'great' reviews. went here because of the positive reviews on urbanspoon, but regretted it. we ordered a mix of things: the sushi was quite okay...limited choice but fresh. that was the only highlight of our meal. if you know anything about good japanese food, don't hope for it here. the agedashi tofu was not the worst we've had in brisbane, but it was still only passable. the miso soup also tasted quite cheap and instant, the green tea was watered down so much it tasted like boiled water and to top it all off the oyaku-don was so bad i could not eat it. the service also was not great. it was quite busy but even still there were others who were after us in the line who were served before us and we waited almost until the end of the meal before we received our green tea. i would not recommended this place to anyone which is a shame since it was nice to see a japanese restaurant run by people who actually spoke japanese.

seriously amazing!!. visited for the first time with a group of friends as saw on urbanspoon the good reviews and was absolutely not disappointed with it -sooo goood!!! location is definitely hidden away from sight behind subway but parking on the streets wasnt too bad on a sunday afternoon. we ordered the kotobuki party platter which was really delicious! fast, fresh, reasonable price too. i really enjoyed it and will definitely come back again :)

cheap and cheerful! the miso soup and sushi were great. my tendon was okay for the price ($10) but really the tempura batter should have been much lighter and there should have been more vegetables. i only got one piece of pumpkin and a few prawns. it was also quite dry with just this and the rice and no sauce but i know that's how tendon typically comes.
