best place in kansas city. stuey mcbrew's is hands down one of the best restaurants/bars in not only lee's summit, but the entire kansas city metro area. what makes stuey's the "creme de la creme" is the fact that they have amenuthat is affordable while at the same time being extremely diverse.
first, a note about their appetizersmenubecause it is plentiful and filling in it's own right. if you are a first-timer here, then you definitely need to try the spicy balls. imagine if you will, pepper jack cheese rolled into a ball, then breaded and deep fried, served with a side of ranch. folks, it doesn't get much better than that. their newestmenurelease also includes apps like the "jalapenroll" and "buffaroll". if your new year's resolution was to be just a tad healthier, then you can't go wrong with their "wang chung lettuce wraps". with 14 inspired appetizer options you will have something new to try every time you come back. now for the main course!
while i cannot disagree with other reviewers who mention wings and tacos being a specialty of stuey's, it would be a crime if i overlooked the other delectablemenuitems. stuey's sports over 30 different burger/sandwich options for your taste buds to delight in. for those who prefer more standard fare like a philly or blackened chicken sandwich, don't fear, stuey's has you covered. where they really shine is in their eclectic burger and sandwich combinations. the "guantanamo" for instance is no ordinary pulled pork sandwich. it comes with ham, pickles and melted cheese on it, but what really gives it a unique flavor is the citrus mustard aioli. a must try for anyone tired of a traditional pulled pork sandwich.
of course, i would be remiss if i didn't mention my personal favorite, which are stuey's wings. over 30 sauces make up the wing menu. you have your choice of traditional (bone in) or boneless wings. while both are phenomenal, i always go for the traditional wings. if you like sauce hot enough to melt your face off, then by all means their "shut-up" sauce is for you. of all the sauces, i have tried roughly 15 different flavors (yes i am there quite a bit). from the blackened tijuana (bacon & parmesan) to the spicy garlic they are all scrumptious. my heart will forever belong to stuey's adobe wings though. while i could try and describe for you what it's like as these wings tickle your taste buds, my words would fall short. once you go there and try them, you will understand exactly what i mean. you can also request your wings to be charred. they will sauce your wings and then throw them on the grill to sear in that flavor.
as far as your favorite drinks go, stuey's has your back. if you prefer mixed drinks, an array of unique combinations awaits you. if you are more of a beer person, they have popular local favorites on tap, such as boulevard wheat and pale ale. throughout the year you will also find varying seasonal drafts.
the atmosphere at stuey's is also second to none. summers are filled with live music on the outdoor back patio on weekends, and during the winter months you can still catch clint martinez or perhaps a karaoke jam going on inside.
before i close this out, i must admit to a stretch of the truth at the beginning of my review. i wrote that what made stuey's the best was the diversemenuand it's affordability. while those are important, what truly makes this the best place in kansas city are the people who work here. from the owners to the kitchen staff (shout out to the culinary jackasses), bartenders and servers. these people are amazing. they are affable, caring, funny and just plain enjoyable people to be around. when stuey's first opened up i can honestly say i did not know anyone involved with the restaurant. but over the last year and a half i am honored to say i have made some great friends. i'm confident that if you give stuey's a try, you will most likely leave there having made a friend as well.
happy dining -
