stratosphere was a very lovely lunch! it is a buffet lunch with various options as per photos. the food was well cooked. the staff were very polite and quick to clear the tables which enabled us to get new plates with food on them. the roast chicken and roasted veggies were my favorite out of the buffet so so so delicious! we grabbed a drink afterwards and sat outside and enjoyed theviewand sun, stunning views! i got a deal of juicy dining deals which was two lunches for $116. i would say worth the money to go here, get a gondola ride up and down and intake the beautiful views! go very hungry and on a sunny day!

this place was terrible. theviewis lovely but the food is near inedible. we paid $95 per person for the gondola and dinner. we booked the 8pm slot which might have had something to do with most of the food being cold and stale. still i don't feel like that's an excuse, if you're going to have an 8pm option you should make sure the food is still fresh and hot by then. if i'd paid $95 for a meal at any other restaurant and been given food like this i would have demanded a refund. there was also a private function going on upstairs with very loud thumping music which ruined what could have been the silver lining of having a gorgeousviewwith nice ambiance, but i can't even say that was good. the one thing that's a credit to this place is the wait staff. they were lovely and quick to clear away plates. that being said the people serving roast didn't listen when i asked for only two slices of meat and weren't very friendly at all. so as much as i hate giving a place such a low rating there isn't really anything that makes it worth rating any higher.

a trendy, stylish and elite looking restaurant placed on the top of the queenstown hill.
theviewfrom the restaurant is spectacular overlooking the gorgeous queenstown city.

restaurant is spacious and has got fancy and modern looking ambience. it can accommodate and cater to large no of dinners at one time.

a great place for elite and fine dining experience with great touch or blend of good nz cuisine.

went for lunch and both food and service was spontaneous, sumptuous, simply superb.

they serve great quality of food and some of the good picks from nz foods and wines.

it does have a bar, cafe and ice cream or dessert parlor separately, which a great added feature for tourist availing the gondola and lugging facilities.

a fairly busy restaurant placed on the top of the hill.

restaurants ambience and location is immaculate, gives an aestheticviewof the entire rotorua city.

dining for ambience is good however food quality, choices and display has moderate.

it does have cafe and ice cream or dessert parlor separately, which a great added feature for tourist availing the gondola and lugging facilities.

poor food quality not friendly staff. have no variety food. i haven't got any worst experience like this in nz. i strongly do not recommend this restaurant. if you want to waste your money you can go. have dirty cup looks like they didn't wash them and the hall staff didn't mind about that. it was disgusting and lost my appetite.
i don't think anyone want to pay $99 just to see theviewand to get this kind of experience.

a beautiful end to our holiday by having dinner at stratosfare. theviewwas spectacular, hubby and i enjoyed two helpings of the salmon sashimi & prawns. we also tried the mussels which had no flavour and a few beards intact.
for the mains, the rump steak was cooked perfectly, the venison i chose was well done however i took hubby's one which was medium rare and had more flavour.
we basically we're full after our mains but thought we would try the desserts, we took a few to sample - choc berry mousse, tiramisu, passionfruit cheesecake & choc pudding which were below average.
even though you have 90mins, time went pretty fast but we managed to eat more than our bellies could take 🤭 the queues for food is not long and always flowing.
overall, we enjoyed our experience and will definitely return.
i would recommend you pre-book your gondola and lunch/dinner to avoid the queues at skyline which can be pretty long.

theviewwas definitely the best part of this place. the food was very underwhelming and to be honest quit disappointing the selection was very average and mussels seemed to be the only actual seafood available from the seafood section! the dessert bar looked better then it actually was. i would of been just as happy with something from the cafe next door at a 1/4 of the price. i woudnt go back

greatviewat night and a lot of food options. excellent customer service. there were some premium food options too where you had to pay for extra — we had the half cray fish which cost $25 but didn’t really taste that great. it was a bit overcooked (chewy) and we couldn’t quite understand how it was meant to taste. it was a good dining experience overall with theviewand the other food options.

we've searched for the "best restaurants in rotorua" on google and this was on pretty much every single list we found on the internet, so we decided to try it out.

when calling for booking, it was overcomplex to book as many details were required other than phone number and name, which should be enough, but that's fine, except for the fact that the restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived. i'd expect the booking process should have less friction.

our understanding was one of the attactive features of the restaurant was theviewand although the restaurant was nearly empty, the staff offered us a table quite far from the window.

it took a while to have someone to take our drinks order. when they did, it took a long time for the drinks to arrive, but only part of it has arrived. one of us ordered a soft drink. we could see the drink sitting on the bar bench and no waiter would bring it to the table, my wife had to walk to the bar and ask if that drink was for our table, than she brought the drink to the table herself.

the second time i've decided to order a beer, no staff would show up, so my wife again had to walk to the bar, order the beer, wait for it and bring to the table herself. again. in less than 20 minutes.

now, finally to the food. as you can notice on their menu, there are many options available, so to be fair, i'll only evaluate the items i've tried myself:

- sirloin, sausages, chicken and other cuts of meat: cold steak is far from what you would expect on a premium restaurant. all cuts, cold. sirloin was well done, like leather.

- fetuccine: overcooked and soggy. think about bad pasta, now this was worse. nearly no seasoning. i've served a very small portion and couldn't eat half of it.

- grilled halloumi cheese: cold. as bad as the meat.

at this point i gave up. the whole experience was so below mediocre and frustrating that i've lost my will to continue.

dessert was ok but mostly way too sweet - for instance: tiramisu and creme brulee, both unnecessarily too sweet.

to finish off the night, the staff was clearly expeling us from the restaurant because they probably wanted to go home as soon as possible, so they've put the drinks bill on the table before we finish eating.

i'm often happy to pay for expensive food, even more expensive than the $72 per person charged at the stratosfare but this time i felt completely ripped off because the service was so frustrating, the quality was so low, the food was so bad, that if i was the chef responsible for that food, i'd change careers.

never coming back.

one of the best buffet spreads in the world, stratosfare's hospitality and warmth is commendable.

for nz $90, there was ample of food from the world cuisine to choose from. desserts were finger-licking good

plenty of options for vegans and vegetarians.

hospitality was top-notch

make sure you have early dinner (half an hour prior to sunset) as to enjoy the scenicviewfro the glass windows.

a must.
