stillwater at crittenden

excellent restaruant. for once it is good to report a very nice restaurant. group of four of us for lunch, tried a few entrees, mains and one dessert. all were delicious. staff are young but really trying hard. venue itself is splendid , peaceful and calm by the lakeside. we sat out on the balcony.

perfect! my husband and i just celebrated our first wedding anniversary with lunch at the gorgeous stillwater restaurant. the service was excellent and the food perfect. the restaurant was full as was the deck and lawn area but we still felt like valued customers. staff are attentive, friendly and very knowledgeable ... the wines were recommended to us and matched our meal perfectly. food highlights were the fresh crumbed mussels, wagyu steak, fennel,orange and anchovy salad... and the scrumptiously light strawberry and lemon delish for dessert... would highly recommend to anyone!

noice, not nice!. lovely surroundings until the traffic noise hits in. the staff were lovely and i only wished the food matched the smiles. encouraged to order the wagyu steak after being told it was melt in the mouth and had fellow diners dishers put under our nose three of our group forked out $10 extra on top of our $58 two course menu. don't do it, we were left chewing on pieces of steak that you'd question from your local fish and chip shop on a steak burger and unfortunately left a lot on the plate, not marbled, grisle. that said the entree's were great, school prawns and quail. nice place for a wine and wander, better places not so far away for gorgeous food. go for the wine not the food.

braised short rib of gippsland beef, with a soba noodle salad
the short rib of gippsland beef had been slowly braised in asian masterstock with kecap manis, resulting in super-tender meat and a gorgeous sweet, sticky glaze. the accompanying soba noodle salad, with water chestnut, bean shoots and coriander, complemented the beef well, providing a lighter point of contrast. i tend to avoid ordering asian-style meals at non-asian restaurants, but this was delicious!

euphonium. it is a pleasure to be able to write another positive review about a peninsula restaurant. i decided to take my wife to stillwater for lunch, on her birthday yesterday, and we weren't disappointed. the outlook from the restaurant and the relaxed competence of the staff were a great start to the day. then the meal! it was one of the best meals i have eaten anywhere and the presentation was as good as i have seen. my wife is hard to please but she hasn't stopped talking about the lovely day she had.

ordered the wagyu it was over cooked and without seasoning. really dissatisfied. i was hoping it would be good.

great food wine and service. we have been to stillwater on several occasions and have never been disappointed. the menu is regularly updated and the food is always first rate. it is on the high side in terms of price but well worth it for the service and overall experience.

special. the lake side surroundings make this winery unique.the restaurant windows look out to the lake and greenery. i had the snapper fillet which was cooked to perfection and tasted divine with the creamy risotto. their side of hand-cut chips are also very irresistible! i recommend this place for a relaxing lunch, if not, even just to walk around the lake and estate.

stayed at the villas and enjoyed our dinner in the restaurant. the snapper was perfect. all round a lovely few days by the lake.

it's always a bonus when you can rely on a restaurant and stillwater is one of these. our first visit was way back during the drought and what a bonus to look out onto the lovely lake, green lawns and an abundance of water birds, it was an appreciated oasis. it has been refurbished in the last 12 months, again great to see a business putting back in and keeping it fresh. the food is excellent i particularly enjoy their duck dishes while my partner has been won over with the steaks. i think for the food, views and ambiance the prices are reasonable and most mains actually come with veg, a pleasant change! we rent property on the peninsular and never hesitate in recommending stillwater, wise to book. staff also very pleasant and seem to enjoy working there, happy diner! it shouldn't have taken me this long to put fingers to keypad.

the best. myself and my fiance were looking to get married, we tried many restaurants and it was either the food or the service that was a constant let down. the restaurants we did sample were of the highest calibre including restaurants where their head chef's are on australian tv in australia's highest rating shows. we then explored and with our last attempt stubled on stillwater at crittenden. if you know your food, enjoy the freshest of produce (alot of the greens are grown next to the restaurant) this place will simply blow you away. from the time we first stepped in we were greeted with great service and food to die for. sitting on the deck, overlooking a beautiful lake, eating the very best food i have ever had in melbourne, together with their great wines was such a great experience. such a good experience that now we are going to share this with our wedding party which is happening early september. we have been back since and the consistency was sensational!! if you have not been to this wonderful restaurant which has just been recently refurbished you are honestly missing out in my opionion the most complete dining experience in melbourne.

stillwater is one of the loveliest spots on the peninsula, overlooking a gorgeous lake, with old vines, beautiful gardens and consistently good food that features quality produce. add to that professional and friendly staff (all too rare on the peninsula sometimes) and every visit here is a delight.
