marvelous macaroons. without a doubt, best macaroons in atl. placed a large order recently for an event. not only were they the "star" attraction in taste, but each one was "tastefully" decorated in the theme of the event. made agreatpresentation. thank you, star provisions!

the westside is such a target-rich environment for food that i don't often get as far as star provisions. but this was my day to head to the 2 go side of star provisions. i've eaten there on several occasions withgreatsuccess. and don't worry, they won't chase you out if you try to eat on premises. i went against my usual instincts to try an outstanding tart. the two most obvious tastes, in my opinion, were the egg center and the crust. the egg filling was wonderfully light and fluffy (something i've never managed in my own tarts). the filling also included button mushrooms and two kinds of cheese, both of which were good but subtle. the crust was a truly outstanding contrast to the filling, rich and flaky.

burnt toast bakery service - as the first customer in the (open door) star provisions bakery today, i was rudely asked to wait 5 minutes until opening time. i respectfully waited at the corner of the bakery counter. another customer walked in one minute later (4 minutes before opening time) and was immediately served. this customer asked for all of a particular type of fresh baked bread... the baker makes very small quantities daily...that's why we arrive at or before opening time. i asked the sales clerk why she (a) ignored that i was first in line and (2) was selling all of the loafs of one kind of bread to the customer who clearly was not first. she rudely said, i'm not the one who asked you to wait. (????). i repeated how rude this was and customer said he had come at 9 a.m. (an hour before opening) and had to wait an hour. that's no reason to put your big butt and mouth ahead of others. manageress, to whom i complained, also could not have cared less that the star provisions bakery staff are the worst trained, did i mention rude, sales staff in atlanta. the baker should be dumbfounded that his otherwisegreatbaking talent is burnt toast before it gets to customers homes.

a star. anne quatrano's restaurants are fantastic! :) her food is consistently fresh, delicious and cooked to perfection. her emphasis on locally grown and sustainable produce is wonderful and a reflection of a chef who truly cares to servegreattasting meals.

the deserts at star provisions are delicious -- so good, that i have my family bring boxes of them to me in south africa.

always a star. i keep forgeting about star provisions and the spectacular list of goodies that they have prepared and ready to go.

out running around yesterday on the west side, i stopped in to pick up something for dinner. i came away with a nice onion and gruyere tart. boy was this tasty. taken home and heated in my oven for 15 minutes, the crust was flakey and buttery. the tart itself was light and airy, with many sweet onions nicely distributed throughout (i hate big clumps) and a nice cheesy crust on top. for the price (5-6 bucks?), this is take-home gourmet at it's best. i just gotta remember all thesegreatprepared food options!
