good, but not up to the hype. sr. sol is ranked the #1 mexican restaurant in athens, and while it was good, i'm puzzled as to why it is the best.
last night my girlfriend stopped by to see what all the fuss was about, and i left a little disappointed. don't get me wrong - the food was very good. eating at a legitimateplacelike sr. sol makes you truly question why you ever go to taco bell.
oh, you can get a stale taco with shredded iceburg at taco bell for $2?
i got a real carne asada steak taco at sr. sol for $2 as well.
as far as prices goes. sr. sol wasn't terrible.
the cheese dip was a tad expensive - $5 - and it was by no means better than anything you'd get at willies or moe's.
all in all, the food is good. but it isn't the best. it doesn't merit #1.
the queso was good, but it's better at willies on alps.
the tacos were good, but they're better at cali and titos.
the gordita was good, but they're better at the j&j's flea market. (no joke - if you ever go to j&j's, they have a little mexican food stand. buy a gordita. be sure to grab a napkin for your drool.)
summary - good place. not worth the #1 in athens.
