very good mexican. went here on a friend's suggestion because cali n titos had a line to the car wash. walked right in and got a table immediately, even though it was packed. chips were fresh and warm, salsa was a little better than the average red at most mexican places. didn't get to try the guac or cheese dip, but they looked great as the staff was walking past with them. it took a little while to get the food, but the server came by often to refill our drinks, and it was really busy. i had something that had "bistek" in the title; a beef dish with onions and peppers and was served with beans and rice, pico de gallo, lettuce, sour cream and my choice of either corn or flour tortillas (corn were great). it was delicious and had a wonderful flavor. i love c&t but i would definitely hit thisplaceup again.

okay so this is the highest reviewed restaurant in athens on zomato therefore the fiance and i had to try it. first off, it's in the same building as a gas station, not exactly fine dining but we were okay with that. the complimentary chips and salsa were very tasty and they even give you two other sauces to try for no extra charge. we tried the enchiladas, burritos, and nachos. all tasted very good but honestly i have had way better at mexican restaurants in my hometown (pensacola,fl). in our opinion thisplaceis way overrated on zomato. nevertheless, it gets a 4.0 because it is good food at a cheap price.

great. thisplaceis like magic. like the kind of magic you wish you could have as a kid. now you can have it. while i have not been to every mexican joint in town, this is my favorite that i have visited. their salsa is pretty awesome, and their mango daquiri is awesome. nom. what i really appreciate about thisplaceis that it has a variety of choices that your typical mexican restaurant avoids--such as tongue and tripe. the food and service is always prompt, so it's always a great choice for when you are in a hurry.

yes, it part of a gas station. yes the atmosphere is cramped. yes, the patio has plastic tables and folding chairs that face a parking lot. go anyway. it's a cheap, hole in the wallplacethat is becoming more and more rare these days, and the food is ohmigodh authentic mexican that can't be beat.

first time and loved it!. service: very speedy and friendly.
food: fantastic: not overly seasoned or covered in queso (like other athens-area mexican restaurants), very fresh, made in less than 6 minutes in the open-air kitchen (yes it looks like a waffle house)
overall: i would choose thisplacein a heartbeat over agua linda, taquerilla la parilla, el patron, etc!!!!!!

try it!

mexican waffle house. had heard rave reviews about thisplaceand the food is pretty decent, but i couldn't get over that i felt like i was inside a waffle house or local burger joint. i'm sorry but fajitas should not be cooked side by side with burgers. the smells do not go together. definitely will not be back.

good, but not up to the hype. sr. sol is ranked the #1 mexican restaurant in athens, and while it was good, i'm puzzled as to why it is the best.

last night my girlfriend stopped by to see what all the fuss was about, and i left a little disappointed. don't get me wrong - the food was very good. eating at a legitimateplacelike sr. sol makes you truly question why you ever go to taco bell.

oh, you can get a stale taco with shredded iceburg at taco bell for $2?
i got a real carne asada steak taco at sr. sol for $2 as well.

as far as prices goes. sr. sol wasn't terrible.
the cheese dip was a tad expensive - $5 - and it was by no means better than anything you'd get at willies or moe's.

all in all, the food is good. but it isn't the best. it doesn't merit #1.

the queso was good, but it's better at willies on alps.
the tacos were good, but they're better at cali and titos.
the gordita was good, but they're better at the j&j's flea market. (no joke - if you ever go to j&j's, they have a little mexican food stand. buy a gordita. be sure to grab a napkin for your drool.)

summary - good place. not worth the #1 in athens.
