somerville thai

i'll go anywhere for a good green chicken curry, and this was certainly good. the pad thai was ok too but a little stodgy. nice clean, modern contemporary ambience. they get a star off my rating for not providing rice with the mains. i mean, really, is it so hard/expensive to provide complementary boiled rice with a mains? it would be tragic if this was a trend. so of course we had to buy rice as well. they get four stars because the bar was well-stocked and including cocktails! mrs b had coffee lacquer which was a very nice way to wash down the food. not outrageously priced either. the four star rating is solid as they say they cook everything separately for us coeliacs. a thairestaurantthat understands different dietary requirements. praise-be for that.

my favourite thairestauranton the peninsula. the food is always outstanding with a large range of dishes to choose from. service is great too! a little gem hidden away in somerville, highly recommend!!

food was okay, was very loud in therestaurantdue to the concrete floors, little off puttting when i went to the ladies restroom and saw a mouse trap.....

death stares from your waitress. tonight we decided that cooking was just too much effort, its sunday why not just go down to the local thai, a place we have been going to for quite a few years now, but can officially say that after tonight's awful service we will not be going back ever again.
therestaurantwas relatively empty, but still it took them over 10 minutes to even come over and get a drink order. a young petite blonde waitress with a lot of attitude finally came over to take our order, when we asked for one curries to be medium she looked at us as though we were speaking another language and rolled her eyes. i asked to taste one of the wines on the menu before i committed to a glass but got told that they will only let me taste it if i buy the bottle so i settled with water instead. when the food came out she slammed the meals on the table almost breaking one of the plates and when we said the rice was lukewarm we got another nasty look before she took it back to the kitchen. the whole time we were eating she was giving us nasty looks as if to say "can you hurry up and leave i just want to go home" so i guess from now on we will make the trip to mornington for thai instead

somerville thai. we have been to thisrestaurantmany times over the last 3 years and the food id delicious, the service excellent and fast. every meal is different...not like it is at some restaurants where you get the distinct feeling they make 2 sauces and put that on everything.
it is rare to see arestaurantthat is busy even on week nights but it is . despite sometimes having about 80 people at tables, you still get your meal within about 10-15 mins of ordering.

not as good as it used to be!. i have been to thisrestaurantabout 10 times for sit down or take away, bought some takeaway last night & it was not up to the standard i have had every other time i've been there! i'm wondering has it changed hands? the same thing has happened to the fish & chip shop i use in somy! they are not the same anymore will have to look for a new fish & chip shop

i am a thai lover so it was great anticipation that we went to "summie" thai. i regularly order a green curry prawns so i can accurately compare. i can safely say it was exceptional with a world record 10 king prawns. the balance of kafier lime and curry flavour was spot on. at $20 it was very well priced.
the service was pleasant but as mentioned by others , is only occasional.
it's a largerestaurantand had 52 seated when we ate so they may have been a bit understaffed.
i'll definitely be back. its right up there with the lighthouse cafe in mcrae and uthong thai in mornington
