best restaurant in the arlington area hands down! chicken livers, chicken tenders, chicken and dressing, sweet potato casserole, mac and cheese, & hush puppies...everything my family ordered was fantastic. only complaints would be the sweet tea, not sweet enough for my liking, and it was hot as hades in there! first time visiting, i'll bebackvery soon.

best food i have eaten out in quite a while!!!!. i had the sunday special of chicken & dressing with sweet potato casserole & deviled eggs. i'm not sure who was cookingbackthere, but it had to be a grandmama. food tasting like a holiday meal from when i was a kid. i travel nationwide & eat out almost ever meal. this was by far the best food i've had in a long time. will definitely beback& checked in on fb so others would go there too.

best home cooking you'll find anywhere these days.. it was literally like goingbackin time thirty years. the food was great; vegetables, homemade rolls, desserts, chicken dressing, real macaroni and cheese. the restaurant was full of local history, very interesting. great experience!! i will definitely comebackto try other entries.

seriously good food. four of us went for lunch to slingshot charlie and feasted on good home-cooking that will take youbackto your grandmother's table if she was an outstanding cook! i had the fried catfish, corn bread, deviled eggs, and fried okra. all of it was out of this world! the fish will have you begging for more except for the fact that you will want dessert. craig and i split the warm chocolate brownie with ice cream and warm chocolate sauce. it was soooo good we ate in silence out of respect for its greatness. try this place out for good southern styled food made from scratch and let it carry you down memory lane to a more simple time when food was made fresh and with lots of love!!

very small and lukewarm portion sizes. i had heard all about slingshot charlie's from some raving reviews online after a friend had bragged about it, and i really wanted to like this place, despite the sticky floors and wobbly tables and all, but we were very disappointed in how small and lukewarm the portions were for the price: 12 bucks for two medium/small pieces of catfish that were very lukewarm when served. and they were really stingy with their hushpuppies--a total of three came with the plate and none before and none after--they were good but three pups?? the fried corn was pretty tasty but a bit watery/runny and it also was very lukewarm when served. my son got the hamburger and for six bucks, it was way too small also and it was gone in no time. we are not big eaters either and we usually don't order dessert, but given the small portion sizes here, we were left fairly hungry after the "main course" so we ordered the blackberry cobbler and it was good too but 4 bucks and another 1 buck for the small scoop of ice cream that i did not order--and it was in the smallest little "bowl" possible.

the food all tasted good at slingshot charlie's but it just should have been served much warmer and for those prices, the catfish should have been twice the size they were, or they should have served another two pieces of those mini ones we were given. another couple of hushpuppies would have been nice, and generally, all the portion sizes should have been at least another 50-70% larger than they were. the other alternative is to bring the pricing in a good bit but given that the sizes are so small, most folks will come away hungry as it is, so they really need to kick up the portion-sizing on just about everything and serve the food shortly after cooking versus 8-10 minutes later or folks will quickly catch on and go elsewhere versus getting so little value for their money. i think the place has potential, given the food quality but at this point, i am not sure i want to gobackand get ripped off again.

good home cooking but portion size a little small. first of all let me say it took forever for these guys to open but after 4 weeks we decided to give them a try. the food was off the chain good for home cooking. there was no wait walked straight in got a table and quickly served drinks but it took a little while to get the food but it was awesome the only complaint i have us the portion size was rather small for the amount we paid. i talked with one of the owners and she assured me they were working on that. i paid over 50 dollars for a family of 5, 3 of those were kids. we will bebackand give them another opportunity.

tried it last week for the first time. i'm fairly hard to please, especially when it comes to home-cooking. i was completely surprised at the quality of the food. the fried chicken livers were great, the turnip greens were fresh, not straight out of the can. homemade mashed potatoes and gravy were excellent and to really top it off the blackberry cobbler was some of the best i ever ate. i'm on my waybacknow to try the chicken and dressing.
