thisrestaurantis located next to the pool at the palms place hotel. the service was great and the view to the pool area was calming and nice. it is very popular place for lunch and chef symon is famous with his iron chef burger. however, since i love pizza, i ordered the wood roasted pizza margherita. it was an individual size (or a little bit bigger than that) and came with mozzarella, vine ripened tomatoes, and fr

posted on april 20, 2011 by southbayrantsnraves the palms place tower in my opinion is the palms all grown up. the vibe here is definitely more chill than its counterpart on the other side of the long corridor. breakfast with a view going with that chill vibe is simonrestaurantwhich overlooks the pool. large windows let in the vegas sun. with the pool being closed for the season, the atmosphere felt even more serene. when we walked in, there were only two other tables seated which made it seem even more peaceful. i'm sure it gets more lively as the day progresses but for right now, i was glad to have some quiet. while sipping on some freshly brewed coffee & taking in the scenery, my breakfast had arrived all nice & colorful. not a bad way to start my morning in vegas. this healthy breakfast definitely kept me going as i went through my day. on sundays, simon does brunch and the wait staff dress in their pjs, it should be a sight to see, perhaps on the next trip out! i'd also like to

wow. great experience!. recently had dinner at simon, therestaurantat palms place. had always been curious, but never went when it was at hard rock hotel. the atmosphere is amazing. very mod, mid-century feel. like something out of a james bond movie or a swingin' martini party designed by shag. ultra-cool. floor-to-ceiling windows look out onto the pool, very dramatic lighting, could be great for a party, but was also romantic.

from the appetizer to the dessert, everything was incredibly tasty. accessible, not snobby, almost comfort food. the bread basket was even amazing and different. we had a crispy rock shrimp appetizer that rocked! our entrees: a beautiful tandoori-spiced arctic char paired with quinoa and mango. and one of the best filet mignons i have ever tasted. side dishes: garlic mashed potatoes and an amazing macaroni and cheese with white truffle oil. we thought we would pop, but had to try some dessert, too. the night we were there, they were featuring a peppermint cheesecake on a chocolate cookie crust, served with a chocolate sauce. unreal. i think this may have been a seasonal holiday dessert.

our server was mark. led us to our dinner decisions with his very apt suggestions. brought us cocktails that were simple and delicious (we make them at home now) -- brown sugar martinis. he was incredibly friendly and attentive, knowledgable about his menu and preparation, and really went out of his way to make this a special dining experience for us. (his assistants were named jordan and mishel (?). we will definitely be back and will ask for mark -- we want to bring friends to have the same wonderful experience. can't rave enough about simon! and kerry simon himself came to the table to say hello to us!

my suggestion? go there! now!

when simon says "brunch", do it!. so my dad & aunt are in town. they wanted to do sunday brunch. they were talking about some same ol' boring buffet, but i insisted otherwise.

and thank goodness i did!

simonrestaurant& lounge is hidden on the sixth floor of palms place, by the pool. but once one finds it, a whole new world of culinary delight awaits... especially for sunday brunch!

the pastries are always a great way to start. the beignets are fresh, and the other doughnuts have interesting flavors hidden inside. oh, and don't forget the buttery perfect croissants!

also available on the buffet table are fantastic panini and sushi. the fig and bleu cheese panino on whole wheat ciabatta hit the perfect savory and sweet notes for me, while the avocado roll sushi was freshly rolled and packed quite a punch once wasabi was properly applied to it.

oh, and how can i forget the french toast! it was paired beautifully with raspberries and blueberries, and coated with frosted flakes. it may sound odd, but when maple syrup is added it quickly becomes heaven on a plate!

and if you're one to start the day off with the right boozey poison, then simon's sunday brunch will suit you well. be prepared to pay extra, but if you're game for that go ahead and try the bellini (peach puree and champagne). trust me, you'll thank me later.

and without a doubt, you'll thank me for recommending simon for sunday brunch. my dad & aunt still are!

off the beaten path. when i say "off the beaten path", i mean, if you can find the food, you may have the food. after the challenge of locating this restaurant, we've had some fantastic lunches here. best of all, chef simon was present in hisrestaurant(somewhat of a novelty in the vegas "celebrity chef" spaces). the atmosphere is hip, the food is creative, and the servers are excellent. highly recommended! try the fish tacos!
