sometimes you just stumble upon something awesome - this was one of those days. you have no plan - you're just driving and you're starving. the nagging wife grumbles, "we are not going to mcdonalds again!" to her husband who, like a 9 year old, could eat mcdonalds 7 days a week. he sighs and knows this is not the day to fight this battle and they drive on. suddenly there it is - someplace that has food - and people bring it to you at a table! but wait there's more - big square boxes hang from the walls and what do they do? they show football games!!! hooray hooray it is a good day! so that was our saturday a couple of weeks ago. we stumbled upon the silver spring house and while i had heard of it - i really didn't know anything about it. it looked nice though and we were really hungry - so we headed in. it's on east kemper in the loveland/maineville area. i quickly realized my favorite thing about ssh is the garage-door-style windows. the whole wall of booths backs up to these and on a

terrible service at the bar. if you are looking for a great place to lift a cold one and have some great wings - silver spring house is the place. located on the corner of kemper and snider rd, it's a great little getaway without having to go too far from home--you almost feel like you're on vacation. the restaurant has indoor dining and "outdoor" dining with a great little patio or in the large seating area that is surrounded by huge windows the restaurant leaves open during nice days. chicken is what is on the menu and they do it up great! the wings are a unique style - double dipped and delicious. and the pete's special - a tasty chicken burrito is one of my favorites. the atmosphere is casual & friendly. and they have the best tasting fresh popped popcorn around - just grab a bowlful on the way to your table. the only negative thing about the place is the service at the bar - slow, unfriendly and unaware. i have visited many times so this is not a one time situation on a busy night. in fact, the last time i visited i waited for 15 minutes for a bartender to get me a drink. once i flagged one of the bartenders down, they said i had to ask for a different bartender to get it for me. i decided to leave at that point. service at the tables is much better. overall, though, it's a great value and a fun place to visit.

best chicken. their spring house chicken was cooked to perfection in a lime salt concoction that was unbelievable and was surprisingly not greasy.

originally a drive-in, the atmosphere was casual and resort-like with its open air dining space. when the weather turns colder, the windows come down and the heaters come on.

good restaurant. great chicken dishes. avoid the restaurant during luck hour rush. we've been here several times and have it enjoyed it with the exception of lunchtime. they are super busy and we believe the cook turns up the heat (literally) and causes the chicken to overbook from the outside and undercooked from the inside. our chicken was raw. when we sent it back, we got a new breast that was not raw, but burnt on he outside. other than that, great place to eat.

i like it - good neighborhood bar/restaurant. always lively with a middle aged crowd. food is good and the portions are huge. good service.

a local hang-out, standard food. to put it bluntly, this is the local middle-class, middle-age hangout in the area. when we entered, we were given a suspicious look that says "you guys aren't regulars...".

portions are large, but the food is pretty standard. the bar atmosphere doesn't really do anything for me either. i went here primarily to satisfy my curiosity about why this place is always packed. i suppose it's for people who get used to and enjoy the crowd.

the chicken was very flavorful and the salsa had a nice kick. i had been craving tacos recently and this seemed like a nice compromise... and a couple of the chips were a nice way to pick up some things that may have fallen out of burrito during the eatin

don't order dessert. agree that the chicken and onion rings are excellent. however, save your money and don't order dessert. they are outrageously expensive (as much as the most of the entrees) and taste terrible. they need to just have something like graeter's ice cream which you can't mess up, or skip dessert entirely, because what they have is really a sad commentary on dessert.

neighborhood favorite. this is my favorite non-chain spot for a good, normal meal. delicious chicken, as advertised. if the 1/2 chicken dinner is too much for you, you can order a 1/4 chicken--it's not on the menu, just ask the waitress. great place to go with the kids, tvs all over the place (especially in the semi-outdoor patio area) and self-serve popcorn and peanuts to munch on while you wait for dinner. parking can be tough on a busy night (any night after 7pm?) but if you have a corvette or another fancy sports car you can pretty much park anywhere you want! (sort of a car show along the curb some nights)

this is a typical neighborhood spot-someplace that has regulars and where you know the people. the food is average but it's just a comfortable environment to have a casual dinner.

mediocre. i was looking forward to dining here because friends had raved about it. i was let down.

i had the chicken and rib combo with mashed potatoes. i also had potato soup.

the soup was bland. it had a strange consistency. clearly not freshly made.

the chicken was very juicy and tender. the ribs were falling off the bone. which would have been great, if they both hadn't been overpowered by a way too spicy bbq sauce. i couldn't eat them. the mashed potatoes were not seasoned at all. very bland.

it cost $60 for my family of 3 to dine here. our money could have been better spent. a disappointment.

fantastic!. what a great neighborhood place. the chicken is absolutely to die for! it's always packed, but you can sneak in during off times and get seated immediately. my fiance loves all of the tv's around (more than bw3's) and i love the food. when the side windows are open, it reminds me of being on a beachfront bar/restaurant! great place to spend an evening with friends.

there's a time for adventurous dining, and then there's a time for a bottle of domestic beer and a char-grilled chicken sandwich on the patio of the silver spring house. it occupies a fuzzy piece of real estate in the northeastern suburbs - is it symmes t
