go for the experience!
seriously, this is one cafe each and every person visiting agra should drop by at. run by acid attack survivors, it is a brave and wonderful initiative to make them confident and independent. the place is beautifully decorated, and the pictures of the survivors dressed and smiling beautifully are just lovely. a whole wall is filled with interesting books and another is lined with clothing and accessories which you can buy as a contribution to the cause.
the first thing that will hit you there is that the menu card has no prices! it gives you the freedom and responsibility of paying as much as you feel like. as a heads up - for a plate of paneer pakoras, finger chips and two coffees, we calculated a total cost of rs. 250 (average pune standards) and doubled it, i.e. we paid rs. 500.
the girls and women working/serving there are very quiet, modest and sweet. service is very good, and food quality is good too. despite being a social cause, quality and professionalism are not compromised upon anywhere.
it is quite an experience to visit this place and see how these unfortunate girls build back their lives. but their confidence and self respect does not make you pity them; all you feel is pride for them.
it is a place beyond food, it is nourishment for the soul.
