shed 5

we booked into shed 5 for our wedding anniversary, as apart from being the few top restaurants being open on a monday night, our previous lunch dinning experience last year was very good. we were greeted and seated with an introduction from our waitress who was looking after us for the night.servicewas impeccable. starters of oyster kirkpatrick was as described with a very tasty grilled topping, venison cutlet was nicely finished and plentiful for an entrée. the duck and ox tongue was initially disappointing as we couldn't find the tongue, when we approached the waiter he advised he would look into it, our waitress then arrived and advised it would be under the duck, under closer examination it was not there at all, the waitress apologised and arrived with an extra portion of ox tongue which was very flavoursome, although the juices from the duck would have completed it nicely. the pork was average a little on the tough side and no crackling but abundance of fat. after finishing a sparkling water with our wine the waitress took the empty bottle away and replace with a fresh one, at $9-00 a bottle it would have been courteous to ask if we required another bottle rather than just deliver it to the table. we shared a dessert of home made ice cream and profiteroles which were a lovely finish.
overall a nice dining experience apart from the main initially being incomplete which you would not expect from this class of restaurant. the price was good value for money and no hesitation in going back for lunch or dinner.

came here during the beginning of march during our trip down to wellington.
theservicewas lovely - although there were a little too many flies in the bar which really needed to be dealt with. there was also quite a long wait time for the food, although the waitress did reassure us that the food would be out soon.
we ordered the eye filet and the pork schnitzel, i loved the pork chop, and thought the apple slaw was very refreshing in contrast with the hearty pork.
the eye filet was good, however, was unsure with the pairing with the kumara underneath - it didn’t seem to have the refreshing feeling that the apple slaw had for the pork.

overall enjoyed the experience here, would love to come back if i’m down in wellington sometime again.

i really enjoy shed 5. been here a number of times. the food is an excellent standard with great flavours. i have always had friendly professionalservicehere also. it is in a good location with a pleasant atmosphere.

if this is the premier seafood restaurant in wellington, it is an impoverished gastronomical landscape.  firstly,  we got asked to wait outside and it wasn'y summery or pleasant. they definitely don't  know how to cook paua. although extremely generous with the amount, it was tough, leatheryand dry and ruined the texture and flavour of such a delicacy. my dining partner's fish was tasteless and lukewarm.servicewas dilatory and not very attentive. not impressed at all.

went in for dinner as a company of 3, no booking on a week night but waited only 5 mins until accommodated with a table over looking the wharf. drinks and entrees arrived in good time with no disappointment. 3x ciabatta pockets starter with 3x dips was a good teaser. mains came out within an appropriate time and with beautiful presentation, mine, the seafood risotto (seasonal). as exactly as the waiter had explained it would be with bursts of citrus here and there, well paired with the pinot gris i had. greatservicethroughout with waiter/waitress asking if okay but not too frequent as to be annoying. shared creme brulee which surprisingly came to a decent portion size, roughly of a bakery pie. was great end to the dinner. reasonable pricing as expected from waterfront fine dining restaurant. would happily go again.

came here due to a function and whilst theservicewas good and dishes were of quality ingredients but the meals were all like warm which i think is super poor when a restaurant is set to cater for functions. would i come back again probably not better to just dine casually at crab shack for it is the same kitchen!

dined with 4 others for a birthday dinner. 

the food took far too long to come out, had long uncomfortable waits for the bread and starter to come, then easily took 60 minutes for the mains to come out. total time there 2.5 hours, most of it waiting for the food. 

the location is fantastic and they accommodated my request to sit next to the window -servicewas ok, but it felt like there were too few wait staff for the tables there. the kitchen could also use more staff. 

i've been before, but after this time -won't be back.

here with some mates before a big sporting event (rugby test) so she'd 5 was very busy. it is in a great location, close to city. they managed the crowd well during our visit, theservicewas excellent and we did not feel like we waited on anything.
food was really good as well, i started with a seafood chowder and it was a food effort. for main i had the duck risotto, it was very good and i would recommend it. i will go again.

dinner was fantastic,servicewas superb! my partner especially liked the risotto that accompanied the duck and discovered that he actually enjoys cauliflowers (he's a carnivore).

the dine and dash menu is just fantastic! get yourselves down there for lunch!

today i ordered the market fish and bombe alaska for dessert. the today's fish was grouper and it was superb! my mate was a little disappointed because i entered the "can't talk eating" phase. to my defence - there was an amazing fish cake to be had, full of cheesy goodness! om nom nom.
my mate had the beef cheeks as her main. she said the beef cheeks were tender and the mushrooms were 👌.

the hazelnut ice cream (in the bombe alaska) was super hazelnutty, and the blackberry compote and spongey base (possibility hazelnut too?) went together just nicely. i will admit i had dessert fomo as i want to try the affogato with petit fours that my mate had next time. it seemed to be just as delectable.

theservicewas just amazing, (love your water pouring skills and your smile mr waiter man) and the location is just great! i absolutely cannot wait to dine and dash again!

the atmosphere is buzzy,  service and food outstanding.  we were in a large group and sometimes timing can be tricky. we were able to meet in the bar beforehand for a drink which was great as many restaurants don't have that. high highly recommend.

i brought my partner there to enjoy our first meal as a engaged couple and they took care of us all night! they food was absolutely to die for and even though one meal was under cooked, they still took it off the bill which was very professional. they offered us free bubbles and a free little dessert and had made to order a lovely message for my now fiancé.

sure one meal was a little raw but there customerservicewas outstanding hence why i'm giving it a review of 5. i highly recommend that you go to shed 5 as their food is excellent!

loved the atmosphere,serviceand the food. didn't like the 30 minute wait but the dining experience made up for that plus we didn't have a reservation. lovely mocktails - liked the my fair lady. loved the prawn and crayfish cocktail and the snapper fish with french beans. the food is really delicious!! this is one of the best restaurants in wellington.

went here for my friends birthday, on a recommendation. food was stunning,servicewas lovely. i personally loved the whole night. my friend had a little trouble with his steak, he asked for medium cooked, however it came out slightly to rare. staff quickly apologized and and went back into the kitchen to order another piece. unlike most restaurants, the chef cooked a fresh piece for him. we had a table right next to the window with a stunning view of the water, the heater was on and we weren't rushed ton leave. would most defiantly go back!

one of the best dinner experiences i've had in a very long time.  everything was brilliant from the food, to the decor and atmosphere.  theservicewas also fantastic – often at high end restaurants the service, though professional, doesn't feel particularly welcoming or friendly, this was not the case at shed 5 – we received brilliantservicethroughout the night, very friendly, welcoming and overall very enjoyable.  entree and main were very good, dessert (tiramisu) was outstanding.  enjoyed a lovely bottle of wine too at the recommendation of our waiter.  i was out for a birthday dinner with my uncle – my birthday was a week ago – we never mentioned it, but when he checked my id he must've noticed, and bought out an awesome happy birthday artistic dish.  fantastic experience, one of the best restaurants in wellington.
