we were have more than 5 plate of oyster, nice.

but, wait too long time. one entree i forgot name, too small, but expansive.

we came here a couple of months ago and were really impressed. so much so i tried to talk a friend into having her wedding breakfast in the private dining room. sadly it wasn't big enough, but so close!

for a starter i had scallops which were perfect. for my main i had fish with potatoes - both were beautifully cooked, and perfectly seasoned. the desert was delicious too. the wine list is great, and the service, outstanding.

the bill was incorrect - we'd been charged for another table's whisky, but it was smoothly and easily rectified.

we'll definitely be back!

has been a very long time since i've been here but my experience here was beautiful and amazing, not to mention elegant as well. service and food was outstanding. will be hopefully back in soon to see if it is still the same. awesome experience for sure!!!

ten days ago my partner and i took a group of international visitors to shed 5 for what we expected to be a special experience to mark the last night of their visit to new zealand. the meals were tasty and the service satisfactory - but not head and shoulders above many other great wellington eateries as we had expected from their 4 1/2 star rating on this site. but the worst was yet to come - two of our six guests got food poisoning from their meals and spent their last night in new zealand throwing up in their hotel rooms. my partner rang shed 5 the next day to report this and was told the head chef would ring back but he hasn't. my partner rang twice more and left messages but still no call from shed 5. the same week we watched simon gault on masterchef berate two of the contestants for leaving a bit of dirt in the bok choy they served. this seems like the pot calling the kettle black. its time shed 5 put the same standards in place that their owner expects of amateur contestants on masterchef - and a little follow up customer service wouldn't go amiss!

i was walking down the waterfront with a date, she just missed her train and so we had some time to kill down that side of the city.

we saw this place and i decided to treat her there. we weren't wearing the sharpest of clothes but still the waiters there just treated us so wonderfully even though we really only wanted to have hot chocolate.

i wanted to go here again another time for lunch with a date.
the food was excellent don't get me wrong, but the main reason why i wanted to come back to this place was because my date was treated like an absolute princess the last time we came.

i knew that if i were to take anyone out and make them feel absolutely special, then it would be this place.

great room in terrific location. the scallop entree, seafood chowder, snapper, wine all excellent. service well meaning but patchy. overall 15/20. good reliable standard. recommended.

we were lucky enough to celebrate a friends birthday at shed 5 on saturday night. wow what an amazing place. there was a large group of us and we each ordered something different and were all impressed with what we ate. the freshness and colours on our plate where simply delicious! the wait staff were perfect as well! so well done shed 5 and next time we are in wellington you will be our first stop!

this was a most pleasant experience from start to finish.. excellent service. perfect tasting food. lovely wines. great atmosphere.
couldn't really fault it except in an ideal world the prices would be much cheaper. but for dinner once in a while for that perfect occasion shed 5 is reliably fantastic. thank you..

a thoroughly amazing dining experience, among the best i have ever had! from the minute you walk in, you can feel that there is something special and unique about this establishment. celebrating my high school graduation with my family at shed 5 was absolutely pleasurable!

although we had to wait for 20 minutes before being seated at our table, we were well looked after at the bar and front of house section. staff were very pleasant, polite and knowledgeable on the food and menu. the service was exceptional, with the waiter knowing how to balance attentiveness with "over-attention".

the entrees were fantastic, and portion sizes hearty. my sous vide lamb entree was cooked to perfection with a balanced harmony of flavours and textures on the plate.

the main dish of savannah rib eye fillet was also cooked to my specifications (medium rare). the side condiments, sauces and vegetables that accompanied the main course was absolutely faultless.

the restaurant also offers a good variety of wine, ranging from the basics to more extravagant varieties and brands.

overall, i can confidently say shed 5 has become one of my new favourite restaurants. i would definitely love to come back, and i would not hesitate at all to bring my friends to dine here.

saw this restaurant had won best venue for 2013, so had to check it out.

had/enjoyed the chicken roulade. shared a seafood risotto. both dishes to die for. combination of flavors and textures was superb.

had to try a desert so we shared apple, plum, tamarillo crumble.

whole experience explained totally why they won best restaurant. absolutely recommend for all seafood lovers !!!

the best service i have had ever from a waiter! we were there on sat 7th sept and had a young gentleman serving. he was polite and professional but had great knowledge on the foods, great recommendations, very friendly and chatty - best mix possible. he absolutely made the restaurant stand out.
food was absolutely delicious -menu is small-ish but perfect! nice view, lovely place for a formal occasion, would highly recommend!

i took my mum here for a late mothers day lunch as we were down in wellington for andy warholf exhibition.

we have dined at a fair number of up market restaurants previously and we were not disappointed with our experience.

the cocktails are reasonably priced and the hair of the dog (bloody mary) was exceptional. this set the scene for the rest of the afternoon.

we started with the warm bread and dips. i had two entrees of tuna capaccio - flavours and textures were out of this world. i went with my old time favourite of caesar salad - the take on this salad was exceptional. my mum had the fish of the day which she thoroughly enjoyed. we shared the crumble desert which was yummy.

we had our own waitstaff who was knowledgeable about the food and wine and shared stories from paris. his dedication to serving made the experience more enjoyable. we also liked the fact that we were not plied with alcohol like we have found in other top market restaurants.

we learnt never to judge a restaurant by the decor. we wish this restaurant was in auckland. we would recommend this restaurant to everyone who comes down to wellington and will be back the next time we are down in the city.

my partner and i dined here on a busy friday night,we were taken straight to our table by a warm and friendly staff member.my partner ordered the oysters and i ordered the beef tar tare and both were wonderful.for mains we both ordered the groper,my partners was lovely but unfortunately my groper was dry and the presentation wasn't very appealing.the wine and the service was absolutely wonderful.maybe my expectations were too high.a bit of a disappointment.

the famous bluff oysters have just come into season and there is no better way to celebrate our wedding anniversary and bluff oysters by heading to shed 5 for some good casual seafood eats and is one of a few restaurants left that still does the good old stiff white linen table cloths with service to suit.

great fine dining restaurant in wellington - where its specialty is seafood. i have been here on several occasions and have never been disappointed. it is not as expensive as you may think.. service is good and friendly and food is even better.

definitely recommend this place if you want to take your other half to a nice restaurant. it definitely is not noisy as some restaurants that you go to.

if you like bread, i recommend the trio of breads with accompanying spreads - they are my favorite!

went to shed 5 for the second time during the weekend. we had deal vouchers for seafood platters and wines.

it was incredible. the three tier seafood platter was to die for. all of the seafood cooked to perfection and a fantastic range. the wait staff were incredibly accommodating. one always enters a restaurant with vouchers thinking we'll be treated differently, no way, the staff were so helpful and polite.

after our platters, we treated ourselves to dessert, which was perfect. the creme brule was so silky smooth with a great caramelization. i cannot wait to go back there and try something else!
