dinner was fantastic, service was superb! my partner especially liked the risotto that accompanied the duck and discovered that he actually enjoys cauliflowers (he's a carnivore).

the dine and dash menu is just fantastic! get yourselves down there for lunch!

today i ordered the market fish and bombe alaska for dessert. the today's fish was grouper and it was superb! my mate was a little disappointed because i entered the "can't talk eating" phase. to my defence - there was an amazing fish cake to be had, full of cheesy goodness! om nom nom.
my mate had the beef cheeks as her main. she said the beef cheeks were tender and the mushrooms were 👌.

the hazelnut ice cream (in the bombe alaska) was super hazelnutty, and the blackberry compote and spongey base (possibility hazelnut too?) went together just nicely. i will admit i had dessert fomo as i want to try the affogato with petit fours that my mate had next time. it seemed to be just as delectable.

the service was just amazing, (love your water pouring skills and your smile mr waiter man) and the location is just great! i absolutely cannot wait to dine and dash again!

the atmosphere is buzzy,  service and food outstanding.  we were in a large group and sometimes timing can be tricky. we were able to meet in the bar beforehand for a drink which was great as many restaurants don't have that. high highly recommend.

i brought my partner there to enjoy our first meal as a engaged couple and they took care of us all night! they food was absolutely to die for and even though one meal was under cooked, they still took it off the bill which was very professional. they offered us free bubbles and a free little dessert and had made to order a lovely message for my now fiancé.

sure one meal was a little raw but there customer service was outstanding hence why i'm giving it a review of 5. i highly recommend that you go to shed 5 as their food is excellent!

thank you once again for making our night so enjoyable!

loved the atmosphere, service and the food. didn't like the 30 minute wait but the dining experience made up for that plus we didn't have a reservation. lovely mocktails - liked the my fair lady. loved the prawn and crayfish cocktail and the snapper fish with french beans. the food is really delicious!! this is one of the best restaurants in wellington.

my friend and i went here for a drink and dessert last night. it is a cool little bar located by the waterfront.

service was good, the gentleman helped us with our drink and dessert choices. he also meal checked us and kept filling up our water glasses which was great.

we both had the chocolate moose which was really delicious. it had so many different components to it which was nice but not all the flavours went well together.

would definitely come back for a quite drink or two :)

went here for my friends birthday, on a recommendation. food was stunning, service was lovely. i personally loved the whole night. my friend had a little trouble with his steak, he asked for medium cooked, however it came out slightly to rare. staff quickly apologized and and went back into the kitchen to order another piece. unlike most restaurants, the chef cooked a fresh piece for him. we had a table right next to the window with a stunning view of the water, the heater was on and we weren't rushed ton leave. would most defiantly go back!

the mains took over an hour to arrive, and during this time the wait staff were suspiciously absent, as if they were avoiding telling us that there was some delay. anyway, after too long, 5 of the 7 people in our group got their mains, and about 5 or 6 minutes later, the two remaining dishes came. horrible timing!  the food looked good but that's about it. it tasted horrible. my dish had this flavourless black rubbery stuff all over it, i wasn't sure it was supposed to be eaten but i ate it anyway. later i was told that it was paua. i've had paua many times before and paua does have a reputation of being tough, but man, if the paua is this tough, may as well leave out off the dish. there was also some duck breast risotto thing, one of the most expensive dishes on the menu, and you get about a third of a duck breast, overcooked almost to "shed 5 paua" toughness level, doused in a very rich sauce with nothing creamy to balance it out. overall, won't be going back - for the amount of money dropped at this place, a much better meal could be had elsewhere.

the meal was very nice with good sized portions, plus the wait staff were polite, friendly and efficient. i'll go back for another meal, and it's also a place i'd take visitors to wellington. above average expense but worth the money for a good meal.

celebrated our second wedding anniversary at shed 5 last night and had a lovely time! we booked through their website which was a breeze and received a confirmation email the night prior so we knew we were all ready to go. the restaurant was quite full for a monday (must be because it was wellington anniversary) and the staff were busy attending to everyone but it never felt as if they were in a rush. they also obliged our request to sit next to the water which was really appreciated and the maître d' wished us a happy anniversary as she seated us.

we had the beautiful warmed bread to begin which arrived within five minutes and our mains were out not long after that. i also tried their sav blanc that was featured in their monthly wine tasting (johner something?) and really liked it. hubby had the savannah angus eye fillet; it looked great and was beautifully prepared while i had the moroccan style market fish (choice of salmon or groper, i chose the latter) which is actually not something i would usually choose as i'm not a big seafood fan but "when in rome..." it was delicious and i was glad i branched out of my usual chicken and steak bubble. our waiter suggested we pair our meals with the rocket salad which we both devoured.

dessert did not disappoint and we should know - we ordered a lot! both of us wanted the valrhona kalingo chocolate mousse but in the interest of sampling more than one dish i ordered the lime and coconut panna cotta. on top of this, hubby also got a couple of the chocolate truffles and i ordered spanish chocolate fudge fig...just cause. everything was really tasty with a lovely variety of textures and flavours. the fig was very boozy and i heeded our waiters advice to save that 'til last lest it overpower everything else. shed 5 also helped to celebrate as they sent out a special dessert wishing us a happy anniversary - nice touch :-)

our waiter was great, too! wish we had got his name but if you get a charming irish lad you'll be in good hands. thanks shed 5!

came to the shed 5 last night for dinner with a group of 7 friends. here are my comments.

pros :

(1) my cos salad entree at $18 was yummy. it tasted fresh, had nice crunchy bits of grilled bacon and cheese in it. also had a nice soft egg shelled in bread crumbs.

(2) my raspberry trifle dessert at $18.50 was lovely.

cons :

(1) my hawke bay lamb mains dish was simply awful!! it was like an old boiled piece of meat sliced up. it didn't taste like lamb at all. definitely wasn't worth the $35.00 charged. very disappointed!!

(2) although the place was very busy, the food still took too long to arrive. our mains didn't turned up till 90 minutes later!!

(3) given that my main dish was terrible, it was quite expensive overall for what i got. my bill amounted to $71.50!!!

had a terrible lunch here over the weekend.
food took ages to arrive and was average. this is a restaurant where they are trying to be posh but really failing. we had 4 mains to choose from. all of which varied in size hugely, so half the table was starving and the other half couldn't finish the meal. cutlery was dirty, and we had to ask 3 times for a drinks menu, and they only bought 1 to share.staff we under trained and had no manners. to take our order the waitress just said "what do you want", never repeated the order or acknowledged what we had said. and later when meals were put in front of us, we said "thank you" and they said "of course".... what sort of a response is that!!!we were then overcharged as they messed up the bill. having eaten at most of the restaurants in wellington to ensure i can make good recommendations to customers, i will be making sure to remove this from our list and advising of the many cheaper, nicer and more deserving restaurants in town.

so lovely, had the tuna steak when it was on the menu.  wait staff are always really nice.  only downside is that crab shack is cool, but if you walk through that way it really lowers the tone of the place....

finally worked out the reason why i didn't like this restaurant or all celebrity restaurants in wellington. it's all my fault because i do not like salty food. oyster, my most expected food, not fresh enough; lamb pie, nice, but too salty to me, only to me! cheesecake, not bad, but not the best. 4 for the environment and service.
