sharky's on the pier

liked it.goodfood and great views. really a neat place to spend the evening. the food was really good. little pricey, but that's if you get their specialty dishes. sweet potato crusted sea bass was excellent.

feels a little like a tourist trap but the location is perfect and the view is perfect.goodvariety of seafood and the swordfish was good, but nothing outstanding... attentive and friendly wait staff..

while it is a great location, the food left something to be desired. the grilled shrimp was over cooked. the encrusted shrimp and grouper didn't taste like fish anymore. in fairness, the grilled swordfish was cooked well. also, two of our three items were a $1 more each on the bill than on the menu and chalkboard. i would recommend it if you wanted to drink by the beach. i would not recommend if you wantgoodseafood.

worst meal and service tonight 12/4/14. i have been coming here faithfully for 20+ years and tonight will be the very last time i come to sharky's sadly. our food was well under the normal standards, coconut shrimp was notgoodand not the same. when we mentioned our disappointment to our waitress she simply said they changed the recipe and did not even offer to bring something different. then the fillet and two new york strips that were ordered were not impressive either. the filet was much smaller than normal and the "butter" that comes with the steaks was not even butter! when i explained again my disappointment with the meal and the fact that a manager didn't even bother to come to our table..she simply repeated that the "butter" was changed as well and that the "menu" changed..although the "menu" itself is not changed at all to reflect the differences. then i spent 10 minutes tracking down the manager myself..and he simply stated the same thing that the menu changed, even after i told him that being a customer for over 20 years i do not plan to return..he made zero!! attempt to try to resolve the problem. so very disappointed..i have given them rave reviews for 20 yrs and now..after the horrible service i intend to spend time giving reviews that reflect my disappointment tonight. i miss the old warm inviting staff they used to have employed, i miss the great manager that used to take time to greet us at the table and make certain our experience was great. i used to leave 20-30% tips..tonight the tip was 0 because it wasn't earned. very, very disappointed wish i never spent the $132 dollars tonight taking my daughter and her boyfriend there!!

visit to sharky's. i have been long standing customer going to sharky's. today was very disappointed due to the waiter was vinny. he did not get the order right. when questioned still did not get right. we had to ask others for help. also there was only fork offered for eating a salad. no offering of dessert. however, asked our table to leave,(we had only been there total 45 minutes because said had reservation for 12). we moved to another area and only 2 people replaced the table. obvious he was only interested in tips but notgoodservice. regretted giving him the tip we left. if had not been long standing customer would never return.

they ruined it. we used to go here all the time. best location for many many miles directly on the gulf of mexico. stunning stunning views. but they have just added a new restaurant called fins, a fancier sharkey's and they have raised their prices at old restaurant. now you have to get a pager, wait in line for an hour, very very crowded and no longer a place to sit and enjoy atmosphere and the views. just too many people walking by and trying to get seats to be able to do this. they even have oversize gulf carts in parking lot picking people up because the parking lot is so large and far from front door now. just no fun anymore at least not for locals. more of a tourist trap now. for the amount of people they serve their service is excellent is food isgoodsometimes verygoodbut can be hit or miss but overall good. remember this is not a five star joint have not eaten at fin's so cannot say a word. norma

we had to wait almost an hour for a table outside but it was worth it! i had the mahi mahi summer on the beach salad and it was amazing! my husband thought he had died and gone to heaven over his grouper sandwich because it was sogood(he got it cajun style). i would recommend this restaurant to out of towners or locals. ambiance is great, service was fine and food was delicious!

nice if you can sit outside. try to get a table outside. the tables along the beach are first-come, first-serve, but that's where you get the best view at sunset.

been there a few times. the fish tends to be fresh and quitegood(my favorite is blackened grouper). the meat dishes are pretty good, too, and i'd definitely recommend the nachos as an appetizer (the platter should be big enough for the entire table). as far as the drinks go, liked their margarita best of all.

not cheap, but worth it, especially with the view.

great beach bar & restaurant complex on the gulf. sharkey's is a tourist trap that locals love too. it combines the best of public facilities (beach, pier, parks) with private conveniences (restaurant, bar, store, bistro).

we've been coming here for years and i'm pleased to say sharkey's has improved considerably this year. they have unbeatable views, a fantastic newer pier to walk before or after you dine, it's located right on venice beach, has regular live music ... what more could you want? well, they have improved this year with brand new public restrooms outside (very clean and nice, in the blue building), a far more organized front of house including the seating process with pagers and a diligent hostess, new outdoor areas with added seating for guests when it is busy, and a great golf cart shuttle to help those who need it navigate between the "complex" (restaurant/bar/pier etc.) to the parking lot or even to the gorgeous public park right next door.

ok, so here is a qucik run down of how "we do sharkey's." from a former tourist cum local who has frequented this place for over 15 years:

we drop everyone off at the front and get out names on the list. one person stays at the front with the beeper while the rest of the group walks the pier. don't stray too far out ... they wont seat you unless your party is all present. if you are eating, sit inside for the best service, best/biggest alcoholic drinks, and best overall experience. it took us a long time to figure this out. but the back deck is chaos with poor service, sometimes high winds which make eating outside difficult, and it is often very crowded and loud. we've founf inside is a far better experience with excellent views. relax ... you can always go on the back deck for a drink or desset after your meal ot walk the pier!

we recommed ordering the bimini beach burger ... excellent. hands down my favorite burger in florida. and a great deal on their menu. this is far better than their kobe burger, suprisingly. you cannot go wrong with the bimini burger with jack cheese, medium or med rare.. we get the mushrooms and onions on the side, as they can be messy. these burgers are huge, juicy and flavorful.

we also recommend ordering 18 peel n eat shrimp for $11.50. the best value in seafood on their pricey menu and so tasty too! also ask for horseradish, as their cocktail sauce has no "kick" to it.

the guys in our group always get the bait bucket margarita ... watch out, they're strong!

another not on the menu tip: you can add 5 large fried shrimp to any entree for $5 or so. well worth it if you just need a taste of the surf.

agoodinexpensive appetiser is the beach breat for $7.50 or the clam chowder for $5.50 is another affordable way to get you seafood fix!

you will also be served fresh bananna bread/sweet fruit bread before your meal. we save it and eat is as dessert at the end.

be prepared to pay about $15 to $20 per entree and always inquire about the market price if you are ordering their daily catch ... their prices can be riiculously high ... one time i paid close to $19 for a grouper sandwich! so either plan to pay or plan to get the affordable options i've outlined above.

after your meal, walk the pier if you havent already or walk next door to the gorgeous beachfront park and walk their 1 mile loop on the beach front or duck into one of their private little coves to watch the sunset. or best yet, ditch your shoes and walk directly on the beach! beach access is provided via a ramp leading down from the first park observation deck. be cautioned: do not ditch your shoes straight away ... walk out with them until you get past all the very prickly vegetation and onto the actual all sand beach!

enjoy a spectacular place that we've been sharing for close to 20 years!





this place is an institution. sharkey's is so unique because of the combination of services, activities and entertainment they provide.

mega funk band , these cats rock'd drinks were on point, little pricey but can't put a price tag ongoodtimes.

it was good, so so, the drinks have alcohol in them which is a plus lol .. the mahi mahi taco taco wasgoodafter i added tons of hot sauce and salsa, before that it was bland.. the kobe beef burger was ok .. the fried shrimp was good.. the server was phenominal .. great service, over all the drinks were my fave :)

favorite!. this is one of my favorite places in the world! whether i dine in the beautiful indoor dining room, or out on the fabulous deck, i always have a blast there. the indoor menu is more extensive, but there's alwaysgoodoptions out on the deck. the bar is great. i've always had fantastic bar tenders and i love those margaritas! they have live music and the best view anywhere. my happy place.

great views, on the water. seafood is excellent. huge pieces of fresh shrimp.goodservice. average meal is about $16.00. lots of space to sit outside. bar area with a few tv's. overall a fun place to dine. nice sunset views.
