sharky's on the pier

great beach restaurant. a great location, right on the beach. i suppose technically on the pier, the land end, and it was a hot and sunny afternoon. sharky’s was busy on this memorial day but there was no wait. there is construction happening so this may be a temporary setup, but for now you check in at one place and when it is your turn they hand you a plastic bird to carry to the restaurant itself. this works as an indication to the staff you are there for a table.

we had chosen to sit inside where it would be cooler. not sure if it was, the outdoor seating was shaded and had fans. inside was fine, just on the edge of being too cramped. we did not get a table along the windows so our view was not very good.

prices were a little high, expected for a place that caters to tourists. the portion sizes were large. i tried the sharky’s famous grouper wrap and it was plenty. my wife had the cheese and bean nachos and that was much more than she could eat by 2/3. both were very good.

service could have been a little quicker in a few spots but nothing at all serious. it is a nice fishing pier and a beautiful beach, and we were glad we made the drive to sharky’s.

liked it. good food and great views. really a neat place to spend the evening. the food was really good. little pricey, but that's if you get their specialty dishes. sweet potato crusted sea bass was excellent.

feels a little like a tourist trap but the location is perfect and the view is perfect. good variety of seafood and the swordfish was good, but nothing outstanding... attentive and friendly wait staff..

not just terrible service, no service. we were ignored. waitress came to table next to us three times without acknowledging our party of five. even walked away when being called. hostess gave a vapid, "that's terrible," but did nothing to fix it. don't bother.

was hoping for a great experience- but was disappointed. the waitress was flat - 0 energy, and the food was quite bland, very little flavor even though we both ordered items labeled spicy. the view is great though. overall it is overpriced for the experience. would not recommend this as a must stop.

this food was very good! i had a blackened mahi sandwich, and it was phenomenal. it's always packed here, but the bar has great service. i had a virgin strawberry daiquiri and would highly recommend. the overall atmosphere is very fun and the food is delicious.

while it is a great location, the food left something to be desired. the grilled shrimp was over cooked. the encrusted shrimp and grouper didn't taste like fish anymore. in fairness, the grilled swordfish was cooked well. also, two of our three items were a $1 more each on the bill than on the menu and chalkboard. i would recommend it if you wanted to drink by the beach. i would not recommend if you want good seafood.

worst customer service i've ever encountered.. i have worked in restaurants all my life. i'm very easy going and not hard to please. with that being said, after spending $70 on dinner for just myself tonight, i was hit in the back of the head with a tray leaving a nice bump and headache. the manager was aware of the situation (at least 4 servers had witnessed it) and never once approached us. my aunt had to go looking for the manager to finally have it addressed. he apologized to her and then proceeded to make excuses for what happened. he finally said "well what do you want me to do about it." after which he literally avoided us, hiding and ducking behind doorways for over 20 minutes after. never once having approached myself individually and acquiring to my well being after the fact. as a bartender and server with management experience myself i have never been treated so poorly in a dining establishment. the way it was handled was completely unacceptable.

they need to get a new hostess. young dark-haired hostess that checked us in had the personality of a rock. we knew we would be waiting for over an hour to be seated but after 45 minutes we went to check to see the status. her customer service skills were much like her personality. non existent. our waitress was very good, the food above average and the view beautiful. probably would not go back there. not overly friendly.

user reviews. overpriced commerial crap. okay, its onthewater, but the service is lousy, and had better food at the fair.

great food, view, and service. after reading all the negative reviews i was a little skeptical. but being a tourist we were told we had to go...the service was amazing! the shrimp trio and steak was to die for. we waited about 10 minutes to get seated total in our 3 visits. definitely will be going again! bar and wait staff were very nice. and a night walk on the fishing pier is a must as people are lined up trying to land a shark! thumbs up all around!

great view, horrible service, inedible food. think comcast, the only service available in your area. it's the only dining available on the beach. go for a drink, skip the dining.

worst meal and service tonight 12/4/14. i have been coming here faithfully for 20+ years and tonight will be the very last time i come to sharky's sadly. our food was well under the normal standards, coconut shrimp was not good and not the same. when we mentioned our disappointment to our waitress she simply said they changed the recipe and did not even offer to bring something different. then the fillet and two new york strips that were ordered were not impressive either. the filet was much smaller than normal and the "butter" that comes with the steaks was not even butter! when i explained again my disappointment with the meal and the fact that a manager didn't even bother to come to our table..she simply repeated that the "butter" was changed as well and that the "menu" changed..although the "menu" itself is not changed at all to reflect the differences. then i spent 10 minutes tracking down the manager myself..and he simply stated the same thing that the menu changed, even after i told him that being a customer for over 20 years i do not plan to return..he made zero!! attempt to try to resolve the problem. so very disappointed..i have given them rave reviews for 20 yrs and now..after the horrible service i intend to spend time giving reviews that reflect my disappointment tonight. i miss the old warm inviting staff they used to have employed, i miss the great manager that used to take time to greet us at the table and make certain our experience was great. i used to leave 20-30% tips..tonight the tip was 0 because it wasn't earned. very, very disappointed wish i never spent the $132 dollars tonight taking my daughter and her boyfriend there!!

visit to sharky's. i have been long standing customer going to sharky's. today was very disappointed due to the waiter was vinny. he did not get the order right. when questioned still did not get right. we had to ask others for help. also there was only fork offered for eating a salad. no offering of dessert. however, asked our table to leave,(we had only been there total 45 minutes because said had reservation for 12). we moved to another area and only 2 people replaced the table. obvious he was only interested in tips but not good service. regretted giving him the tip we left. if had not been long standing customer would never return.

they ruined it. we used to go here all the time. best location for many many miles directly on the gulf of mexico. stunning stunning views. but they have just added a new restaurant called fins, a fancier sharkey's and they have raised their prices at old restaurant. now you have to get a pager, wait in line for an hour, very very crowded and no longer a place to sit and enjoy atmosphere and the views. just too many people walking by and trying to get seats to be able to do this. they even have oversize gulf carts in parking lot picking people up because the parking lot is so large and far from front door now. just no fun anymore at least not for locals. more of a tourist trap now. for the amount of people they serve their service is excellent is food is good sometimes very good but can be hit or miss but overall good. remember this is not a five star joint have not eaten at fin's so cannot say a word. norma
