had dinner with my friends here and ordered a bunch of different sushi platters as well as the spicy gyoza. so order the spicy gyoza. it is worth it.

my favourite among the sushi platters that we ordered was the grilledsalmonskin maki. yes, it was a bit spicy, but so good and so worth it. i also enjoyed the crispy philly. think all the bad things for you in one: cheese, deep fried, sushi. (okay, sushi isn't exactly bad for you.)

serving size wise, i'd say that two sushi platters had us comatose, and we were super hungry when we came in. definitely worth the trip to bf.

note: parking may be hard to come by but we were there early (around 6:30/7pm) so it wasn't so bad.

absolutely loved the sea urchin rice, and the traditionalsalmonroll with tempura crumbs seriously left my craving satisfied. expect at least a 20+ minute wait time, which isn’t uncommon, but that's in case you're looking for a quick bite. also, if you're driving, prepare to settle for a parking somewhere near since they have very limited parking space as well.

anyway, it's definitely value for money, especially since their portions are pretty generous, too. can't wait to go back and try the other dishes.

....mouth is watering as i type

one of the best sushi places i've tried. i suggest ordering from the blackboard, which has their specialties. japanese fried oysters, foie gras maki, lobster maki, etc. on the basics, tried their spicysalmonmaki and uni tempura. both really good too. only drawbacks to the place are its small size (so i suggest making reservations if possible) and the cash-only basis. staff is very friendly.

absolutely terrific food! i heard about sensei sushi from my brother, who claims that its probably the best japanese in the las pinas area. so on the way home from a meeting, i wazed them since ive never seen their shop before. they are a quiet little shop along the bf main bf road near the pcj church with a small logo on their sign that looka just like their neighbors, so theyre hard to spot. when we entered, i was surprised to see how small the resto was. it could only fit about 20 people, but surprisingly, about half the resto's tables werr already reserved. since i was clueless, i asked the waiter for their best sellers. we ended up ordering the crispy philadelphia maki, the fried oysters, the torchedsalmonmaki, and the spicy seafood pasta. the crispy philly was pretty tasty, being cheesy and fried and crispy. the torchedsalmonwas also pretty good, but kinda tasted like normal bakedsalmonwith rice. the seafood pasta was pretty good, too. for dessert, we ordered the half baked chocolate cake. if you are going to get the half baked chocolate cake, you need to order in advance since it takes 20 mins for it to come out. the choc cake was very delicious, great with the mango it comes with. we spent about 1200 for me and my gf. the atmosphere of the place feels kinda small and dark. they say its comfy but i didnt really get that vibe. the guy at the bar had one of those jejemon caps with the straight brim as he was wearing his chefs uniform. kinda brought down the atmosphere of the place. will i come back? yes, to try the other stuff. the service was pretty fast. like 3-4 mins per dish. it was weird considering its fresh maki? so you had to like, roll the maki and then fry it and then cut it? so i kinda doubt if the stuff was really freshly made. pero good food none-the-less.

the fatty tuna andsalmonsashimi were fresh and well sourced. every dish was well presented. credit cards are now being accepted unlike our earlier visits when cash was the only mode of payment. it was also nice to see chef ricketts in the kitchen. this is one jap resto we keep coming back to for our sashimi and sushi cravings.

new location, new menu.

place: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
• modern interior, more spacious, more vibrant and bigger parking space

food: ⭐️⭐️
• this used to be one of the best japanese restaurants for me before that my family was willing to travel all the way from qc just to eat here for sunday lunch. but i don't know, my family and i were all disappointed with the new menu. they removed lots of items from past menu like gyudon(one of the best imo), katsudon, etc. their tonkatsu donburi was bombarded with herbs, the beef stripes of the new substitute for gyudon was a bit salty. lots of unavailable items on the menu includingsalmonsashimi on a sunday lunch. felt like they prioritized presentation over taste. personally, i'm sad because this used to be one of my favorite go to japanese restos and i felt like that food isn't what it used to be. i just hope they bring back the old menu.

loved the sushi, the makis and sashimi, especially thesalmonsashimi! super fresh!

the garlic oyakudon, however, was dissapointing. the garlic was almost burnt and there was too much nori. the original oyakudon is still better.

first time here, and the trip was worth it!!

we ordered a total of 4 dishes:
✅ crispy philly - loved the mix ofsalmonand asparagus in the roll, sauce is also good. sad it was only 6 pcs
✅ gyoza - no need for a special dip for this cause the sauce all over it was just right for the taste
✅ pork katsudon - very tender meat, really melts in your mouth
✅ tuna and crispy scallop w/ dynamite sauce - first crispy sushi i had, and i don't really like spicy, but this is an exception 💖

overall, why this review lacks one more star is because it's out of the way, and you have to come early since they only open for lunch till 3pm and opens again at 5:30.

not as good as before. even the customer service. when i called to reserve, they said they dnt accept reservations, when we got there they placed us near the toilet area knowing they have enough seats near the entrance and told me the tables there have been reserved for someone who just called! unbelievable.

we couldn't even fit because it was super sikip. they didn't want us to move the chair near the aisle because people can't pass through daw.

when we got our food, the tonkatsu did not taste good at all. even the spicysalmonsalad tasted different :(

was excited to try this place thinking it would be ooma level. i was sorely disappointed. upon entering we were greeted by...the overwhelming smell of bleach. it was so bad, my eyes watered and my head started to pound. but i put on a brave face since we were there and starving. we had chicken popcorn- reminiscent of the ones sold at the korean grocery store; california maki with shrimp popcorn- just like the name implies, your usual cali maki topped with battered shrimp and drizzled with goddess dressing. not bad...nothing to write home about either. tuna and crispy scallop dynamite- this was the only dish we actually enjoyed. kyuri, cream cheese & dynamite sauce. beef chahan- huge serving, small taste.salmonsashimi- average. sadly , the energy ( or lack thereof) of the staff matched the mediocrity of the food. what a letdown😓

everything we ate was so delicious. the fried oysters, gyoza, ebi tempura, kani salad, the spicysalmonsushi thing (?) i’m definitely going back to try the chicken karaage.

this tiny restaurant offers so much of gastronomic experience. when i visited here, i was able to try various dishes from their wide selection of meals. every dish were great! i specifically liked the torchedsalmonbelly aburi! it was just amazing! ebi tempura was also great expept for the its shells which i yhink should be removed completely except for the tail but the sauce was just perfect. beef teppanyaki and grilled steak were so much tender. crispy philly was okay. i so much enjoyed cali roll with prawn popcorn, gyoza and spicy gyoza. i couldn't remember the other dishes we tried but everything were great!
