i wasn't overwhelmed by my breakfast burrito after having (probably inflated) expectations based on the reviews. we also had the bircher muesli which was really good. coffee is very good and the service is lovely and attentive.

there was a lot going on with this plate of breakfast but it had a nice symmetry with wonderful colours and looked incredibly fresh. i'd never thought about a salad for breakfast but it worked, in particular the beetroot infused salmon, which not only had an interesting colour, was just beautiful to eat. i really loved the stark contrast of the black seeds on the stark white of the egg.

i spied this gem a couple of weeks ago on  the weekend edition  and placed it on my wishlist immediately. i finally got the opportunity today to visit it with a dear friend of mine. despite being situated on a busy main street on brisbane cbd, parking was surprisingly easy. the shop front is modest and inside reflects the same rustic simplicity. the counter which acts double as both a drinks/sweet bar is small and neatly decorated with wooden baskets and vintage ornaments. there is a communal bench seating on on the far wall in which tables are neatly stacked up against. there is also a more small room at the back of this cute little cafe for a more intimate and private gathering. the staff were attentive and gave us water and the menu to look at the minute we sat down. i ordered a mocha and my friend ordered a skinny cappuccino ("why is my capp so much smaller than your mocha" was her exclamation upon seeing the drinks come out. go figure.) my mocha was nothing fantastic- just your st

miss. amazing food, coffee and service.

it does not matter if they are swarmed with people and have massive waiting lines, they never skimp on the quality and presentation of food.

worth the wait.

creative!. came to scout after seeing such positive reviews online - it was extremely busy on a saturday morning but we were seated promptly. there was a bit of a wait on the drinks and food but given we sat at the communal table, we occupied ourselves with the magazines available. the coffee and butterscotch milkshake were delicious - breaky salad and breaky bagel were both impressive and i'm so glad we ventured out to try this place. will hopefully be back soon

my dish had a lot of different flavours to it and the merguez sausage had such a dominant taste on my palate on its own yet when eaten with the pita bread and the rest of the ingredients it brought the whole dish together.

although there was quite a wait for a table (don't take bookings), the lovely customer service and great food made the delay worth it. they offer coffee to be brought out while you wait, which is a fantastic idea. definitely satisfied our grumbling tummies. we had bub and a pram with us and the lady seating us was very considerate, making sure we had a table (no bar stools) with adequate space. their fresh juice is really refreshing and the menu has great options (making it hard to choose). i had the rhubarb and apple crumble with cinnamon toast and vanilla marsacpone and my husband the breakfast bagel. we both enjoyed our meals. thanks scout!

yum!. this place is pretty special. my partner and i went here on a whim after waiting for a table at another cafe near by and i'm so glad we did. although busy, staff were friendly and seated us at the counter with a coffee for the short wait for a table. although the decor is lovely and the atmosphere relaxed, the thing i loved most about scout was the different menu options to 'typical' brunch fare. it was challenging to pick items as we wanted to try everything but settled on stewed rhubarb and apple served with cinnamon toast, crumble and vanilla bean mascarpone ($15) and the breakky salad with toulouse sausage ($16). both meals were delicious, fresh and a good price for the ingredient list and portion size. the crumble dish had a nice balance of sweet and tart with great textures and without stodginess.
with so many little cafes gracing the brisbane social scene, having an original menu will ensure the experience stands out and when done well will have us coming back again.

great breakfast. i had the smashed avocado with feta, herbs, olive oil and lemon served on pane with chorizo and roasted roma tomatoes on the side and a watermelon, apple and mint juice. i really enjoyed everything about scout, great food, staff and atmosphere. my meal was really tasty, amazing chorizo but i would recommend having something on the side with the smashed avocado as it really made the meal for me.

i couldn't believe how busy scout cafe was just after 1pm today. the food took a little while to come but it wasn't too bad and was definitely worth the wait. the heritage tomato salad was delicious and came with so many tasty leaves and herbs and a nice dressing (just the right amount). my only small criticism is that they could have been more generous with the parmesan cheese but it tasted great anyway. they were flexible enough to make a basic sandwich for my son too, which he enjoyed.

i come to scout at least twice a week and have never had a bad experience. the staff are on the ball with customer service.
the baristas know what they are doing.
they make small changes to the menu every few months so i never get bored with what they have to offer.
i highly recommend going out of your way to visit this jem. it's got a very simple and friendly atmosphere.
