very disappointed. we went here as our first dinner in panama city beach because it was described as "the last local beach club" in the 19th annual edition of the panama city beach map and because it said it was "great food". boy, were we disappointed. not only was it windy and cold, because the restaurant is totally open aired with no mention of it in the literature, the food was so-so - the chips with the chips and salsa were really salty; the steak had no flavor, and the fried mahi mahi came with pre-packaged ken's tartar sauce. not to mention, we ate dinner early (5:30ish) which you would think would be considered happy hour with drinks either half off or a percentage off...no, we walked out an hour later, $72 poorer and shaking our head at how expensive it was for unremarkable food that for the price, was not the cheesecake factory or melting pot quality.

great food and atmosphere. 1st stop before checking in to our condo. nice cold beers and crab claws. fun and relaxing. went there for dinner and sat at the bar. larry and the other bartenders were fun. had the steamer bucket with shrimp and crab legs and the thai wrapped shrimp. the band was awesome and the people were friendly. will go a few more times before we leave.

not too bad. as jonny cash would say this restaurant is "walking the line". it wasn't a bad experience but it certainly had its drawbacks. the food tasted alright, the crab cakes where over seasoned and the "scuban" was sub-par but the hamburgers where well cooked. overall it was not worth the price. i suppose you are paying for atmosphere which was fun thanks the to band playing on tuesday night, american honey. the house special drink, the sunset splash, was pretty terrific.

i agree with the thumbs-down crowd. really not that good of food. on the expensive side--they charged me $2.50 each for 1adult sweet tea + 2 kids sweet teas (really?!?) very breezy & v. loud. seriously, try sharkey's or the boathouse if you want nice seafood w/ a view.

surprisingly good food. it's very beach oriented, so you don't expect good food -but it is great! burgers are big and cooked just right. the grilled mahi is only a lunch item but don't miss it. would recommend the key lime pie.

very noisey. can't carry on a conversation. a little pricey but the food was exceptional.

another one bites the dust. i grew up in pc. i remember when it really was the last local beach club. i guess they are all gone now. i didnt see much difference between the new and improved schooner's and all the rest of the tourist traps. i brought family from ga. with me and had told them how great it was. big mistake. the service stunk and so did the food, never again.

memorable. this brought back memories of key west for us. right on the water with outside seating and the food was the best seafood we have had in years. we will definitely go back when we re-visit panama city beach.

the food is overpriced and overcooked but the real reason that i don't eat here is unfair labor practices.

food is great, reasonably priced. got the jerk chicken sandwich with the black beans (without the rice)-excellent! my husband’s fish and son’s po boy were also excellent! would’ve given it 5 stars but we had kids and the kids meals are very expensive if you add a drink ($9-10), which is ridiculous. they really need to fix that.

they call schooners the "last local beach club," and it really is the last of the old open-air hangouts left on the gulf coast. it started back in the late 60's when it was known as "the beach party." in 1985, jim cannon purchased "the beach party" and renamed it “schooners.". every morning, schooners restaurant chefs buy fresh local seafood from boat captains and, by lunchtime, they have created a menu of daily specials which make the most of the fresh seafood and fresh local produce. there is a hint of "southern" flavor to the menu with items like gumbo and other blackened dishes from new orleans. here are my thoughts on the visit
