some very tasty grub here. they make one of the best cornbread dressings i have ever had. if you are lucky enough to go when the chickenfriedsteak is on the specials menu get it and you won’t be disappointed!

i ventured to this quaint place due to the intrigue of the mirliton soup. i ordered a large mirliton soup, a small potato soup, and navy beans and rice with chicken tenders. the mirliton soup tasted gritty like broccoli and cheese put through a food processor. there were shrimp in the soup as well. i did not like it at all. i looked up the mirliton and it is a vegetable related to the gourd family like a squash and cucumber. so, this may be why i didnt agree with the soup i dont like any of those veggies. the star of the show was the potato soup! it was sooooooooooo good it made you want to slap your mama! the chicken tender werefriedproperly but there was no flavor in the breading or the actual chicken. the white beans and rice were on point. i would like to try the ray ray sandwich, so i might come back here.

questionable. i placed an order over the phone for 3 meals. mostly fish andfriedchicken. when i arrived for pickup i also bought the bread pudding. my family enjoyed the meals but when i was ready for dessert it was green and moldy. had to wait until a monday to return it but i cant go back

ray ray a winner. greatfriedchicken, great dressings, can't go wrong.

the best food i never get. sammy's food is terrific. the burgers are huge and great, thefriedfood is crispy and well seasoned. the side dishes are very creative and always delicious. yet, i never go there for a couple of reasons.

i strongly dislike counter service restaurants. i always feel rushed at the counter when ordering and i don't like having to stalk and then claim a table. i also don't care for the self service drink station. the selection is very limited and consists of low quality fountain soft drinks and the iced tea has pretty poor flavor.

parking is a major pain and, in my opinion, is actually dangerous. there are only spots for about 5 cars and the lot is right at a bad intersection along a heavily traveled road.

also, the place is freezing cold ! the dining area is small and the air conditioner is very powerful and blows an ice cold gale force wind at every table.

the food is awesome, but i just can't stand the hassels involved with getting it.

update 10/15/2012 : gina at sammy's emailed me to let me know they have parking behind the restaurant. i didn't know that. thanks gina !

the only bad thing about this place is the line, but after you try it you will understand why there is a line. the shrimp in the po-boy have a unique batter that is excellent. the special's and soups are great. don't dress up and if you only have time for fast food don't even attempt it.

hidden jewel. somewhere you would not expect to get quality food. great po-boys and burgers, however, go for the daily specials. better crawfish monica than you can get at jazz fest. as good of stuffed shrimp as anywhere in town.friedchicken cooked to order. don't go in if your in a hurry the service is slow, but friendly.

better than it looks. in hood, but clean and pleasantly appointed if soulless. decent parking, but crowded. good gumbo. stuffedfriedjumbo shrimp for lunch ($11 w/ 2 sides) are good, but rich. i could only eat 3 of the 5. fries are perfect: thick, hearty, slightly crispy, lightly seasoned. cornbread dressing side is small but brilliant and savory, with bits of turkey in it.
