sal & mookie's new york pizza and ice cream joint

getting my ny grub on!!!!!. went there tonight, had a bit to wait, but in the end the wait was justified!.

i had the caprese to start the night.- tomato, fresh mozzarella, basil, and red onion and black olives. the appetizer was very tasty. i have to say that the fresh basil really made the salad. the only thing was i wish that the slices of mozzarella were thicker.

i was told by numerous people that they will work with you on substitutions. i was in the mood for the chicken parm over a bed of ziti. i asked that they used the vodka sauce and to add italian sausage to it.

my server, jennifer, made it happen. no questions, no "it's going to cost you this amount". it was just done, and done correctly.

my weekend wife had the nightly special of crab filled ravioli. she stated that it was excellent.

when my chicken parm arrived it was a huge plate. there was enough food actually for 2 people and the amount of chicken was out of this world.

in all this visit along with previous visits, mostly pizza and the hebrew national panini(smoked salmon, red onion, sliced
tomatoes, and dill-caper cream cheese spread), will ensure that i will continue to patronage this establishment. (btw the other 2 restaurants that they own are great as well!)

not great, not horrible. ok place to hang out & have a few if that's the place that wins the vote.

bring the take out window back!!!!!!!. i love pizza from sal and mookie's but absolutely hate having to go inside to get a pizza to go. what happen to the take out window???

people who order take out don't want to go inside, this is why they order take out...hello. please sal and mookie's will you get with the program on take out. no other complaints, food will not disappoint.

great family restaurant. pizza was good. i think it was the muffelata pizza. apps were good: wings, humus and bread, and cheese sticks. the service was also great. i will return with friends.

not the best pizza in town, but fun. the pizza is good, but not the best in town. our service has always been good. the food comes out in a reasonable amount of time. their sandwiches are pretty good too.

pizza is good. the pizzas have always been delicious and fresh. our last experience during lunch has ensured we won't be back other than to pick up a pizza. most of our food came out cold, including grilled chicken. as in, straight out of the refrigerator cold.

5 stars- great experience, great pizza, great waitress. first visit was a great experience. we will be back and bring the whole family. we need one of these in clinton,ms

good pie!. have to say my first time here, pretty good for new york style pie. only down side was a over attentive server (10 time through out a 40 min meal) overall,great time with some friends out and a great slice.

biloxi restaurant review: food was good; service needs much improvement. first let me start by saying the atmosphere is lively and fun, especially for families with small children. we called ahead to alert the manager that we were having a party of 14 arrive, just to give a heads up and our party was seated promptly. we had our drink and food order taken within 30 minutes of arriving. beverages arrived and then parts of our orders began arriving with the salads coming out with the main course and not ahead of time, ok, no big deal, however the 3 pizza's that had been ordered were delayed over 45 minutes due to the fact that they ran out of pizza dough and had to use a "newer" dough which requires a different cooking time. the manager was apologetic and offered her discount, great! it took us 35 minutes to receive our tickets/bills, after we had eaten and having the server come back and verify everything we ordered and take to the computer and fix our bills. it was a very long evening from start to finish, over 3 hours to order, be served, eat and pay the bill. arrival time 7:20, departure time 10:23. we were exhausted. unfortunately there were many, including a table not with our group, that were indicating they were not impressed by the service nor the food and would be not be coming back. i enjoyed my west bank muffelatta and my daughter enjoyed her shrimp alfredo penne. also the beer selection was fantastic. improve on the service and you shouldn't have a problem. i would give it an overall 2.5-3 out of 5 stars.

pretty good... some things are better than others but nice ambiance. family friendly. nice to have ice cream area for kids to look at and decide what they want after dinner. okay overall

of the countless pizzas i've eaten throughout my life, the john's bleecker pizza at sal & mookie's easily cracks my top five best pies. foregoing the traditional mozzarella cheese, this pie has fontina, chicken, sausage, caramelized onions, and sun-dried tomatoes with a béchamel sauce base. the béchamel is not too rich or overwhelming, providing enough flavor to let the toppings shine through. the sun-dried tomatoes gave it acidity and enhanced the texture, the chicken and sausage provided the savory, and the onions tied it all together with the sweet. one of the best on a list of excellent pies offered at sal & mookie's.

the best whole wheat pizza crust i have ever had. really fresh ingredients and really fast orders when you get take out. a perfect place to take kids.

sal & mookies may be well known for their great new york style pizzas, but they also offer a terrific selection of burgers. our meal tonight was a "black & blue (medium)" and the "turkey lurkey" burgers which are grilled to order served on a house made hawaiian bun with fresh cut regular or sweet potato fries. as a majority of the tables around us were feasting on huge pizza pies i began to second guess my order, but as the food arrived and i took my first bite, my skepticism completely disappeared. nearly every bite was devoured. who knew!! i didn't save room for dessert but i had my eye on a few items that seemed deserving of a taste next time.

i must say, in all my years (50+) of travel and eating (lol), i haven't had pizza this good. i'll be back!

no sauce on cheese pizza?. so i ordered a cheese pizza to go. i guess i can't really blame them, because i didn't specify that i also wanted marinara/tomato sauce on it, but was very disappointed to get home and find a pizza with ... yup, bread and cheese. moral of the story: don't assume anything and be sure to say you want marinara on your pizza, unless you just want dry bread with your topping on it.
