sal & mookie's new york pizza and ice cream joint

getting my ny grub on!!!!!. went there tonight, had a bit to wait, but in the end the wait was justified!.

i had the caprese to start the night.- tomato, fresh mozzarella, basil, and red onion and black olives. the appetizer was very tasty. i have to say that the fresh basil really made the salad. the only thing was i wish that the slices of mozzarella were thicker.

i was told by numerous people that they will work with you on substitutions. i was in the mood for the chicken parm over a bed of ziti. i asked that they used the vodka sauce and to add italian sausage to it.

my server, jennifer, made it happen. no questions, no "it's going to cost you this amount". it was just done, and done correctly.

my weekend wife had the nightly special of crab filled ravioli. she stated that it was excellent.

when my chicken parm arrived it was a huge plate. there was enough food actually for 2 people and the amount of chicken was out of this world.

in all this visit along with previous visits, mostly pizza and the hebrew national panini(smoked salmon, red onion, sliced
tomatoes, and dill-caper cream cheese spread), will ensure that i will continue to patronage this establishment. (btw the other 2 restaurants that they own aregreatas well!)

good pie!. have to say my first time here, pretty good for new york style pie. only down side was a over attentive server (10 time through out a 40 min meal) overall,great time with some friends out and agreatslice.

sal & mookies may be well known for theirgreatnew york style pizzas, but they also offer a terrific selection of burgers. our meal tonight was a "black & blue (medium)" and the "turkey lurkey" burgers which are grilled to order served on a house made hawaiian bun with fresh cut regular or sweet potato fries. as a majority of the tables around us were feasting on huge pizza pies i began to second guess my order, but as the food arrived and i took my first bite, my skepticism completely disappeared. nearly every bite was devoured. who knew!! i didn't save room for dessert but i had my eye on a few items that seemed deserving of a taste next time.

next time i'll order a pizza. i decided to try out sal & mookies for the 1st time with my daughter. we liked the atmosphere it was family friendly, crowded but we managed. i decided to order the spaghetti & shrimp & my daughter went for the kids chicken parmigiana. i must've misread the description for my order because the spaghetti shrimp was not what i had imagined it was just garlic, butter & noodles w/ about 4 shrimp on top (literally) . my daughter wasnt to pleased with her order either the chicken was sort of tough. my waitress was nice & helpful she let me replace my order w/o a hassle. i went for the wings & salad which turned out to be agreatchoice. the mocktail was great, the ice cream & sundae were also. i guess next time i will just order a pizza but they didnt offer slices the day i was there.

good food.greatwaiters. try the flatbread and hummus! if you want a good pizza that's not the chain style give it a try.

the wait was short, service wasgreatand the food was amazing!!! if we ever cruise back this way we will most definitely stop and done here again!!

a little pricey. good, notgreatfood. poboys for 3 & a burger for one in our party. it must be a jackson thing. i don't have to go back & it will be ok. one good note- our waiter was super kind. that's pretty much it...

this place is great. loved the food, the service wasgreatand the ice cream was awesome! the kids loved this place, and it's not always easy to find a place where the kids and the parents are both truly happy. service was friendly and prompt.

sad.. my first comment is that aside from the price which is totally outragous, sal and mookies makesgreatpizza. is it worth 40$ a pop? nope, but if you are a liberal fondren type, you can see all your buddies from st. andrews and talk about your new prius' gas mileage, sorry, i diverge. go to soulshine, or better yet, try the new domino's, it is better.

awesome!. always a fun experience andgreatpizza! the ice cream bar is agreatidea too. i really love the mocktails as well.

can't beat the lunch special!. with a good selection and fast service, you can't beat the lunch specials at sal and mookies.greatservice, fun atmosphere! yum all around!

in short, this place rocks! we had the zydaco pizza and we loved it! the service was also fantastic. if you love pizza and amazing icr cream in agreatatmosphere, this is your spot.

great place withgreatfood.. only pizza place to use fresh ingridents and not canned items. they also have pastas, burgers, salads, and so much more. reilly something for everyone!

great atmosphere!. this restaurant has agreatatmosphere... it's not the best pizza in town, but it's a fun place to go with a group or with friends and family. the deck is great!
