sal & mookie's new york pizza and ice cream joint

getting my ny grub on!!!!!. went there tonight, had a bit to wait, but in the end the wait was justified!.

i had the caprese to start the night.- tomato, fresh mozzarella, basil, and red onion and black olives. the appetizer was very tasty. i have to say that the fresh basil really made the salad. the only thing was i wish that the slices of mozzarella were thicker.

i was told by numerous people that they will work with you on substitutions. i was in the mood for the chicken parm over a bed of ziti. i asked that they used the vodka sauce and to add italian sausage to it.

my server, jennifer, made it happen. no questions, no "it's going to cost you this amount". it was just done, and done correctly.

my weekend wife had the nightly special of crab filled ravioli. she stated that it was excellent.

when my chicken parm arrived it was a huge plate. there was enough food actually for 2 people and the amount of chicken was out of this world.

in all this visit along with previous visits, mostly pizza and the hebrew national panini(smoked salmon, red onion, sliced
tomatoes, and dill-capercreamcheese spread), will ensure that i will continue to patronage this establishment. (btw the other 2 restaurants that they own are great as well!)

pretty good... some things are better than others but nice ambiance. family friendly. nice to have icecreamarea for kids to look at and decide what they want after dinner. okay overall

this was our first visit here and we had good service and the food and icecreamwas delicious. very pricey though!

next time i'll order a pizza. i decided to try out sal & mookies for the 1st time with my daughter. we liked the atmosphere it was family friendly, crowded but we managed. i decided to order the spaghetti & shrimp & my daughter went for the kids chicken parmigiana. i must've misread the description for my order because the spaghetti shrimp was not what i had imagined it was just garlic, butter & noodles w/ about 4 shrimp on top (literally) . my daughter wasnt to pleased with her order either the chicken was sort of tough. my waitress was nice & helpful she let me replace my order w/o a hassle. i went for the wings & salad which turned out to be a great choice. the mocktail was great, the icecream& sundae were also. i guess next time i will just order a pizza but they didnt offer slices the day i was there.

pizza and stromboli excellence. if you love pizza, burgers, or dessert, eat at sal & mookie's. we first ate there last year, and enjoyed it. we were in jackson last week and decided to try it again. we were glad we did. between the three of us, we had a rockaway beach stromboli and a gambino pizza. i'm not usually a white sauce and chicken pizza kind-of-guy, but the rockaway beach stromboli (a folded over pizza) was fantastic. the gambino was great. and the pecan bar with icecreamwas a delicious way to end the meal. i suppose we might try somewhere a little more upscale (although there's certainly nothing wrong with the ambience at sal & mookie's for a pizza place) next time we're in jackson, but it's going to have rave reviews to keep us from being drawn back to sal & mookies.

this place is great. loved the food, the service was great and the icecreamwas awesome! the kids loved this place, and it's not always easy to find a place where the kids and the parents are both truly happy. service was friendly and prompt.

a jackson fave. let me start by saying i have never had a bad experience here. the food is quality, with fresh ingredients, and the servers go out of their way to make you happy.

my favorite is the 4 train (roasted chicken with corn, cilantro, red onion, and chipotle bbq sauce.) i also love the turkey burger, and for dessert, the double fudge oreo sundae. wow!

very kid friendly with an icecreamshop inside the restaurant, and for the adults, a chic new york cool lounge up front called pi(e). a definite must for any local or even someone passing through.

awesome!. always a fun experience and great pizza! the icecreambar is a great idea too. i really love the mocktails as well.

in short, this place rocks! we had the zydaco pizza and we loved it! the service was also fantastic. if you love pizza and amazing icrcreamin a great atmosphere, this is your spot.
