sal & mookie's new york pizza and ice cream joint

you gotta try the wings. trust me on this... (or you can trust the other chef's in town that rave about them)
wings are the best in town...

store bought desserts. the store should have been named sal and mookies groc. the desserts tasted store bought and the food was ok but bland as usual. would not go back on any occasion.

now, honestly, i've been to good ol' sal and mookie's before. but, we haven't been for a date night, and tonight was my choice. what can i say, i was feeling pasta. i started with a salad, with green goddess dressing (yum!) and there are no pictures. i was starving and it was good. i was already half way done before i even thought of taking a picture. the salad was nice and fresh, with lots of dark lettuce and man, that dressing. it was so, so yummy, and you could tell it was made in house. the only thing that would have made it better (to me), would be a few more croutons. i only had one, and it was delish, but a few more would have been nice. i went with the ziti with wild mushrooms and pancetta. yummy, yummy, yummy. the mushroom were definitely the star of this dish and i do love some mushrooms. the sauce was super flavorful, and it didn't drown the ziti, like a lot of places do. the pancetta was good, but not as noticeable as i thought it would be. i was expecting bi

my calamari was way overcooked....and dusted with semolina (gritty)...not good. my pizza tasted like nothing but fennel....gross....kids love the wikisticks,though.

a jackson fave. let me start by saying i have never had a bad experience here. the food is quality, with fresh ingredients, and the servers go out of their way to make you happy.

my favorite is the 4 train (roasted chicken with corn, cilantro, red onion, and chipotle bbq sauce.) i also love the turkey burger, and for dessert, the double fudge oreo sundae. wow!

very kid friendly with an ice cream shop inside the restaurant, and for the adults, a chic new york cool lounge up front called pi(e). a definite must for any local or even someone passing through.

sad.. my first comment is that aside from the price which is totally outragous, sal and mookies makes great pizza. is it worth 40$ a pop? nope, but if you are a liberal fondren type, you can see all your buddies from st. andrews and talk about your new prius' gas mileage, sorry, i diverge. go to soulshine, or better yet, try the new domino's, it is better.

if you like spending forty bucks on mediocre pizza, then you will love this place! it's right below dominos on the pizza scale.

awesome!. always a fun experience and great pizza! the ice cream bar is a great idea too. i really love the mocktails as well.

can't beat the lunch special!. with a good selection and fast service, you can't beat the lunch specials at sal and mookies. great service, fun atmosphere! yum all around!

in short, this place rocks! we had the zydaco pizza and we loved it! the service was also fantastic. if you love pizza and amazing icr cream in a great atmosphere, this is your spot.
