saguaro corners restaurant & bar

food lacks quality. we have been tosaguarocorners three times since it opened - once the first week, second time a couple weeks later, and most recently this evening.

the first time we were there, we realized that it was the first week in production and understood that it was a new operation. we did not complain when some of the food was cold and took a long time to arrive. we did think it was odd that the wings came uncut. here we were expecting hot wings, and we got this huge plate of full size wings. was not appealing at all.

on our second visit, the food was better. nothing i would rave about, but better than my first visit. there was live music and it was wonderful. the 6th street band played that night and they were awesome. it is such a beautiful setting out atsaguarocorners, and so right for a perfect desert evening in tucson.

tonight, i ordered chicken tortilla soup and i came across a 3 inch strip of boiled chicken skin, bumps and all. just gross. spoiled my appetite. i tried to eat my second item which was calabacitas over rice and beans. i don't eat white rice, so i asked if i could just have it over black beans, but was told no, it was a mixture. i had like 5 black beans total when it was brought to me. but that wasn't the worst...it was the what seemed like days old squash...mushy....that was awful.

the staff is really nice. they are trying. i don't think it is a staff issue at this point. it seems to be a food quality issue. aside from the issues i have already raised, they have very little if any healthy options. we see what happened when i tried to get black beans and no white rice. throughout the menu, it is chicken thighs they serve, not chicken breast. just seems like the focus is delivering on the cheap. that is a shame. hope it changes. would love to take my family there and have a better experience and am always looking for new, cool places to take my large client parties.

best calabasita taco ever.. i am confused about the poor reviews. i have visitedsaguarocorners twice, both times shortly after opening on sunday. the first visit was the last sunday of january. i was waited on by jessica, who was very attentive and friendly. i had a vodka thingy and thesaguarofries. both were super yummy and fairly priced. i went there again yesterday with my son (mothers day) and was greeted by jessica who remebered me and what i ordered. this time i had the calabasita taco. i happen to be quite a taco lover... and i mean all kinds of tacos. but this was the best taco i have ever had... ever!! the veggies were grilled and seasoned to absolute perfection! my son had the mojo taco and said it was delicious. maybe they have differant cooks and i keep getting the good one, i don't know, but i will going there again real soon. my only suggestion would be to provide a bit of shade outside.

music but much more. went for the music saturday night but enjoyed the food even more. everything from the jamie platter to the scallop tower to the jamie margaritas were special. enjoyed the atmosphere as well. the newsaguarocorners is a welcome addition to the eastside.

great meal had the spicy shrimp taco while a little too spicy for me it was worth the heat. chips are amazing! great stop after going tosaguaronational park!

my husband and i try to go to different restaurant location 2 or 3 times a week. we own a company in tucson have lived on the eastside from several years and just now visitedsaguarocorners for the first time, oh my god were we so surprised. this is one cool place to dine out and have fun. with the open dinning interior area that is bright coupled with huge windows of nice views of the desert wildlife, to the double sided interior / exterior sit down bar makes this place a win, win for any size group and or family get together. the menu is well done, thesaguarofries are something special and a must have, our meals were served quickly and the taste (fantastic) we have already returned twice to cruse the menu and enjoy this place. we lovesaguarocorners!

great food & great entertainment!!. stopped bysaguarocorners after driving by and seeing the happy hour sign. quickly checked the web site on my phone and found a great menu, great prices and tons of live entertainment. this place did not disappoint!! the food was amazing, service was excellent and entertainment was awesome. i originally did not want to write a review only because i did not want the secret to get out but this place deserves the accolades. 5 out of 5 stars. check it out asap.

great eastside hang out!. our valentines night date was spent atsaguarocorners ice house. great atmosphere outside on the patio. very reasonable prices, great margarita's and the live music was awesome. the waitstaff was very friendly and attentive. this fun spot is a much needed "go to" for the east side of town.

redemption atsaguarocorners. we triedsaguarocorners a week after the grand re-opening and were happy on several counts; one, a place to eat near vail and two, the food was terrific. our second visit was less happy and the third stopped us in our tracks. after reading a piece in the vail voice about improvements, we decided to give it one more try. huge improvement! kudos to the new owner, jim campbell, for being as good as his word in the upgrade endeavor. from food to service everything was very good.
poppers - bacon nicely crisped - very good...once again!
4-dip sampler - the hot salsa is the best of the four
taco sampler - chic mole, carnitas, shrimp - all very good but the chicken mole wasn't very mole
chimichurri skirt steak - very tasty! we all sampled it and liked it very much
tamale pie - flavorful, not what we're used to seeing as tamale pie, but good just the same
serrano mango chicken salad - very good, greens crispy, chicken nicely cooked
we'll be back. :)

best margarita ever!. my husband & i had the pleasure of dining atsaguarocorners last saturday night for the first time since it reopened with new owners. although all the tables in the "room with a view" were taken, and it was a bit chilly to sit on the patio, we were happy to take a booth in the bar and observe people & servers coming and going. we were waited on attentively by "soup" the bartender and enjoyed the eclectic clientèle the bar attracted. for starters, i ordered the jamie margarita promised to be "muddled with jalepeño and lime." omg! i am so addicted! sweet & tart, hot & cold all at once! my dinner was a two-taco plate--a jaime original and the calabasitas. both were yummy. the only disappointment was the salsa which was too mild for my taste, but i was getting such warmth from the jamie margarita, i didn't miss the heat in the salsa.saguarocorners is definitely a re-newed favorite!!

lunch, too!. as a postscript to a review late last year (2013), we arrived somewhat early last night for dinner and first enjoyed the four dip/chips appetizer along with great draft beers and then enjoyed our tacos (with all the trimmings) - delicious and hot - after that. the place was hopping when we left - so glad to see this! following a hike this morning, we returned for a late lunch and both enjoyed our burgers (sandwich section) with lots of trimmings including the deep fried jalapeno chips. if you haven't been out this way (escalante and old spanish trail), do venture forth.

big changes have occurred atsaguarocorners since its opening earlier this year. the service is attentive but not intrusive, our menu selections have been uniformly delicious (tonight we both enjoyed the blackened salmon tacos with rice and well-prepared beans; about three weeks ago i raved about the meatloaf) and arrive hot at the table in short order not matter whether the place is crowded with folks on a friday night who are there for the music on the patio (warmer weather then!) or less so upon a later arrival when a quieter atmosphere inside was so necessary. the biggest change was discovering table cloths instead of bare tables inside, softer light, and tealights in pretty containers at each table, as well. we encourage previous visitors to return! we certainly will.

great food!. i had the pleasure of eating atsaguarocorners ice house in december, 2013. the homemade tortillas were possibly the best i've ever eaten. the view, from most of the seats in the restaurant, and also on the patio, is outstanding. we were entertained with some beautiful acoustic guitar music and our waiter, matthew, was outstanding. i highly recommend you visit this establishment, for the food, or just a relaxing drink on the patio.

patron. i've loved the location ofsaguarocorners for 30 years and was sad when it was closed for a number of years. but it is open again and better than ever. i love the atmosphere, service, food and drinks. it's just a relaxing place to be, with friendly wait staff and really good food....and cold beer. it is becoming my regular place!

terrific tacos. we were delighted by the re-opening ofsaguarocorners and thrilled by their contemporary menu. their tacos were a revelation -- what a terrific blend of textures and flavors and an exciting twist on traditional cuisine. we highly recommend the experience for food as well as atmosphere.

still charming........... remembered the oldsaguarocorners from the 1960's. my father used to take us there as kids where we'd watch the animals through large glass windows......while eating hamburgers and cokes.
that view of the javalinas, cactus wrens and even coyotes still exists in the new and modern "bistro type"saguarocorners. had some great mole chicken tacos along with a margarita with jalapeno ! everything was delicious! this is still a great place to stop for lunch, and especially to bring your winter visitors the sights and tastes of tucson! so glad it has reopened and kept its iconic name......

great east side gem. the food atsaguarocorners is fresh, and unique. it is rare to find such a great little culinary gem on tucson's east side. i particularly loved the tamale pie, very sonoran style and not your a-typical wrapped tamale. will be back for the happy hour!
