saguaro corners restaurant & bar

very disappointed!!. the evening began on a bad note. saturday, 5/24/14, we arrived prior to our reservation time and were escorted to a front row table which we requested. we were looking forward to a relaxing evening in the patio listening to music and enjoying dinner. a few minutes later, we were told there had been an error and the table was already reserved for another party. we were moved to a very uncomfortable picnic table toward the back of the patio. there were six of us and in the beginning service was acceptable but as the evening went on it was all but non-existent. i ordered a rib-eye steak and was told they were all out of rib-eyes so i settled for a new york strip cooked medium. the salads were served fairly quickly, but it took 40 minutes to get the first plate delivered. my steak followed about 10 minutes later and it was barely warm. it was a cheap cut, overcooked, and the potatoes were not the ones listed on the menu as an accompaniment to the steak. i didn't send it back as i was not about to wait another 50 minutes for a replacement. the iced tea was not fresh brewed and no lemon was served with it. as the evening progressed, and people began to leave we were able to move to a regular table with decent chairs. since we were unable to get the attention of our waiter, we had to go up to the bar to get our drinks.
the patio is a pleasantplaceto dine but they need to get their act together if they expect to be successful. although i really enjoyed the music, i would not return here for a meal.

this is a neighborhoodplacewith lots of beer choices and food for everyone. healthy, hearty and huge salads, tacos, burgers, fried stuff and more. not fancy. laid back and aplaceyou will want to come back to and get to know.

location is great- nice summer air, good band playing, but very disorganized. i called to request a table for saturday night, in the middle, right in front of our friends who were playing in the band on the patio. i was told we had to have 6 people to reserve a table. i told them we had 6 people in our party. when we arrived-the only "table" was right in the middle in front of the band with a reserved sign on it. i ask the server if this was indeed our table. he went to check. he came back and told us to sit down and handed us menu's. we no sooner sat down and another female server told us that we had to move -that the table was reserved for someone else and that we had to have 6 people for a reservation. i advise her that we did(3 others were on their way) and that i had made a reservation for the same place. she said someone "reserved" the table earlier in the week but it didn't get written down??????

when the other party arrived for the "reserved table"-there were only 2 of them. eventually another couple came. they got a reserved table for 4 but repeatedly told us it had to be 6??????

we were then ushered to the far back to a picnic table. the 6 of us , all large adults, sat down with no backs for support, the bench seat was split in 1/2 and one side 2" higher than the other. the server then said she would move us when another table cleared.

when a table did clear- we had to wait and ask several times to get it wiped off. had to ask for silverware etc.

service was poor. very disorganized. food took about 50 minutes to get, a couple of us went to the bar to get ice tea, and drinks because we couldn't get a server-3 of them were standing atend of the bar inside the door talking?

everything was slow and people didn't seem to know what they were doing. the tea was that awful stuff that comes in a container that everyone else got rid of in the many years ago. it was one thing after another with service. we had a couple different servers trying to deliver a salad to our table at different times of the night that we repeatedly said wasn't ours.

the servers all seemed inexperienced and not sure what to do or where they should be. most of the food was ok, although my tacos were cold as they brought them to the table while i waited patiently for drinks at the bar that took too long.

after all the food was served, there seemed to be a bit more attention to service-as far as drinks were concerned.
i was charged different prices for the same drink.

thisplaceneeds a good business manager and trained staff. communication seems to be a problem also.

and for the record we did not seat ourselves, i called in a reservation, the server went to check and told us to be seated, we had 6 people- unlike the party of 4 who were given the reserved table.

i don't think they understand the importance of their customers to their business.

my husband and i try to go to different restaurant location 2 or 3 times a week. we own a company in tucson have lived on the eastside from several years and just now visited saguaro corners for the first time, oh my god were we so surprised. this is one coolplaceto dine out and have fun. with the open dinning interior area that is bright coupled with huge windows of nice views of the desert wildlife, to the double sided interior / exterior sit down bar makes thisplacea win, win for any size group and or family get together. the menu is well done, the saguaro fries are something special and a must have, our meals were served quickly and the taste (fantastic) we have already returned twice to cruse the menu and enjoy this place. we love saguaro corners!

great food & great entertainment!!. stopped by saguaro corners after driving by and seeing the happy hour sign. quickly checked the web site on my phone and found a great menu, great prices and tons of live entertainment. thisplacedid not disappoint!! the food was amazing, service was excellent and entertainment was awesome. i originally did not want to write a review only because i did not want the secret to get out but thisplacedeserves the accolades. 5 out of 5 stars. check it out asap.

great east side happy hour. so nice to have a friendlyplaceto gather with friends after a long days work. your treated like family upon arrival and a cold beer in your hand on the asking. menu favorites are the chips with four dips all at once, wings are over the top and the sonoran dogs rock. it's easy and not to pricey.

redemption at saguaro corners. we tried saguaro corners a week after the grand re-opening and were happy on several counts; one, aplaceto eat near vail and two, the food was terrific. our second visit was less happy and the third stopped us in our tracks. after reading a piece in the vail voice about improvements, we decided to give it one more try. huge improvement! kudos to the new owner, jim campbell, for being as good as his word in the upgrade endeavor. from food to service everything was very good.
poppers - bacon nicely crisped - very good...once again!
4-dip sampler - the hot salsa is the best of the four
taco sampler - chic mole, carnitas, shrimp - all very good but the chicken mole wasn't very mole
chimichurri skirt steak - very tasty! we all sampled it and liked it very much
tamale pie - flavorful, not what we're used to seeing as tamale pie, but good just the same
serrano mango chicken salad - very good, greens crispy, chicken nicely cooked
we'll be back. :)

great place!. do not skip over this place. wish i went here before. i am an eastsider and always wishing there were more places to go eat over here. thisplacewill be our new go to place, especially since it is close. have tried many of the dishes and all have been wonderful. so are the appetizers. perfectplacefor dinner and/or drinks and appetizers! the parking lot looks full sometimes but they have a lot of room inside and out. service has been very very good. always smiling and are very attentive. the chicken enchiladas are really good with a happy hour bucket of beers. looking forward to going back every week.

lunch, too!. as a postscript to a review late last year (2013), we arrived somewhat early last night for dinner and first enjoyed the four dip/chips appetizer along with great draft beers and then enjoyed our tacos (with all the trimmings) - delicious and hot - after that. theplacewas hopping when we left - so glad to see this! following a hike this morning, we returned for a late lunch and both enjoyed our burgers (sandwich section) with lots of trimmings including the deep fried jalapeno chips. if you haven't been out this way (escalante and old spanish trail), do venture forth.

big changes have occurred at saguaro corners since its opening earlier this year. the service is attentive but not intrusive, our menu selections have been uniformly delicious (tonight we both enjoyed the blackened salmon tacos with rice and well-prepared beans; about three weeks ago i raved about the meatloaf) and arrive hot at the table in short order not matter whether theplaceis crowded with folks on a friday night who are there for the music on the patio (warmer weather then!) or less so upon a later arrival when a quieter atmosphere inside was so necessary. the biggest change was discovering table cloths instead of bare tables inside, softer light, and tealights in pretty containers at each table, as well. we encourage previous visitors to return! we certainly will.

patron. i've loved the location of saguaro corners for 30 years and was sad when it was closed for a number of years. but it is open again and better than ever. i love the atmosphere, service, food and drinks. it's just a relaxingplaceto be, with friendly wait staff and really good food....and cold beer. it is becoming my regular place!

sahuaro corners has become my favoriteplaceto grab a tasty snack while enjoying my desert environment. my buds and i go there after a ride and take in a couple ipas.

tasty and comfy. thisplaceis quickly becoming a neighborhood favorite. the food is fresh and tasty and the serving staff is attentive without being in your face. the restaurant is constantly changing as the new owners are making physical improvements to restaurant as well as ensuring that everyone can get what they like to eat or drink. great variety of beers and a menu that meets the needs or any kind of diner and you can get portions sized to what you prefer. as a small eater i am constantly having to leave food that i am served and pay for. i really like the fact that i can order things a la cart if i do not want a huge portion and only pay for what i need. you can get a platter with any of the trimmings or you can order 1 taco if you want. great value and delicious!

still charming........... remembered the old saguaro corners from the 1960's. my father used to take us there as kids where we'd watch the animals through large glass windows......while eating hamburgers and cokes.
that view of the javalinas, cactus wrens and even coyotes still exists in the new and modern "bistro type" saguaro corners. had some great mole chicken tacos along with a margarita with jalapeno ! everything was delicious! this is still a greatplaceto stop for lunch, and especially to bring your winter visitors the sights and tastes of tucson! so glad it has reopened and kept its iconic name......

great restaurant. the food here is delicious and well prepared. beautiful scenery and the staff is far above par. wonderfulplaceto spend the evening.

my wife and i had lunch there dec16 and was surprised to see many healthy choices on the menu. the kale salad was wonderful as were the veggie taco's served with beans and rice. reasonable pricing and excellent service made this aplaceto repeat!
