saguaro corners restaurant & bar

food lacks quality. we have been to saguaro corners three times since it opened - once the first week, second time a couple weeks later, and most recently this evening.

the first time we were there, we realized that it was the first week in production and understood that it was a new operation. we did not complain when some of the food was cold and took a long time to arrive. we did think it was odd that the wings came uncut. here we were expecting hot wings, and we got this huge plate of full size wings. was not appealing at all.

on our second visit, the food was better. nothing i would rave about, but better than my first visit. there was livemusicand it was wonderful. the 6th street band played that night and they were awesome. it is such a beautiful setting out at saguaro corners, and so right for a perfect desert evening in tucson.

tonight, i ordered chicken tortilla soup and i came across a 3 inch strip of boiled chicken skin, bumps and all. just gross. spoiled my appetite. i tried to eat my second item which was calabacitas over rice and beans. i don't eat white rice, so i asked if i could just have it over black beans, but was told no, it was a mixture. i had like 5 black beans total when it was brought to me. but that wasn't the worst...it was the what seemed like days old squash...mushy....that was awful.

the staff is really nice. they are trying. i don't think it is a staff issue at this point. it seems to be a food quality issue. aside from the issues i have already raised, they have very little if any healthy options. we see what happened when i tried to get black beans and no white rice. throughout the menu, it is chicken thighs they serve, not chicken breast. just seems like the focus is delivering on the cheap. that is a shame. hope it changes. would love to take my family there and have a better experience and am always looking for new, cool places to take my large client parties.

very disappointed!!. the evening began on a bad note. saturday, 5/24/14, we arrived prior to our reservation time and were escorted to a front row table which we requested. we were looking forward to a relaxing evening in the patio listening tomusicand enjoying dinner. a few minutes later, we were told there had been an error and the table was already reserved for another party. we were moved to a very uncomfortable picnic table toward the back of the patio. there were six of us and in the beginning service was acceptable but as the evening went on it was all but non-existent. i ordered a rib-eye steak and was told they were all out of rib-eyes so i settled for a new york strip cooked medium. the salads were served fairly quickly, but it took 40 minutes to get the first plate delivered. my steak followed about 10 minutes later and it was barely warm. it was a cheap cut, overcooked, and the potatoes were not the ones listed on the menu as an accompaniment to the steak. i didn't send it back as i was not about to wait another 50 minutes for a replacement. the iced tea was not fresh brewed and no lemon was served with it. as the evening progressed, and people began to leave we were able to move to a regular table with decent chairs. since we were unable to get the attention of our waiter, we had to go up to the bar to get our drinks.
the patio is a pleasant place to dine but they need to get their act together if they expect to be successful. although i really enjoyed the music, i would not return here for a meal.

best restuarant ever!!! bloody mary's are to die for!!!! everyone needs to go!!!. my husband and i love this place!!! been going since january and its our 1x a week dine out date!!! they make the best bloody marys out there!!! they have great servers, amazing bartenders and lots of listening ears to those that have concern. of course, we love it and there are no concerns here!!! as business owners ourselves here in tucson, we hope that this small business thrives successfully and can continue the amazing service on food and drinks as they are doing all these months!!! the variety in food is also very good!!! no complaints here!! plus they have livemusicon the weekends that is soo awesome!!! love it love it

music but much more. went for themusicsaturday night but enjoyed the food even more. everything from the jamie platter to the scallop tower to the jamie margaritas were special. enjoyed the atmosphere as well. the new saguaro corners is a welcome addition to the eastside.

great relaxing evening on the patio. this is a great spot on the eastside to sit and relax and listen to some greatmusicwhile eating good food. we've been a few times by ourselves and once with our kids and each time everyone was very happy with their food. the service has been spot on every time except one night that a few large groups bombarded the patio, but that's not the restaurant's fault. even then the service was very friendly and apologetic for being so busy. the food is a bit unique as it takes normal recipes and twists them just ever so slightly like their mac and cheese with chorizo which is delicious. we're very glad we found this spot!

great eastside hang out!. our valentines night date was spent at saguaro corners ice house. great atmosphere outside on the patio. very reasonable prices, great margarita's and the livemusicwas awesome. the waitstaff was very friendly and attentive. this fun spot is a much needed "go to" for the east side of town.

lunch, too!. as a postscript to a review late last year (2013), we arrived somewhat early last night for dinner and first enjoyed the four dip/chips appetizer along with great draft beers and then enjoyed our tacos (with all the trimmings) - delicious and hot - after that. the place was hopping when we left - so glad to see this! following a hike this morning, we returned for a late lunch and both enjoyed our burgers (sandwich section) with lots of trimmings including the deep fried jalapeno chips. if you haven't been out this way (escalante and old spanish trail), do venture forth.

big changes have occurred at saguaro corners since its opening earlier this year. the service is attentive but not intrusive, our menu selections have been uniformly delicious (tonight we both enjoyed the blackened salmon tacos with rice and well-prepared beans; about three weeks ago i raved about the meatloaf) and arrive hot at the table in short order not matter whether the place is crowded with folks on a friday night who are there for themusicon the patio (warmer weather then!) or less so upon a later arrival when a quieter atmosphere inside was so necessary. the biggest change was discovering table cloths instead of bare tables inside, softer light, and tealights in pretty containers at each table, as well. we encourage previous visitors to return! we certainly will.

great food!. i had the pleasure of eating at saguaro corners ice house in december, 2013. the homemade tortillas were possibly the best i've ever eaten. the view, from most of the seats in the restaurant, and also on the patio, is outstanding. we were entertained with some beautiful acoustic guitarmusicand our waiter, matthew, was outstanding. i highly recommend you visit this establishment, for the food, or just a relaxing drink on the patio.

i tried their poppitos , ceviche and wings and loved everything !!! the service was excellent , serena made us micheladas that were fantastic and the livemusicmade topped it off. the manager came and made sure we were enjoying ourselves which was unexpected and the beautiful scenery made the trip out there well worth it. i told my friends about this place and shall be returning quite often :)

wow!!! have we needed this place on the east side. in one week, we have had soooo much fun. took the wife on a date, went out with my buddies and beered it up with a ton of snacks and ended the week with 3couples and 7 kids. staff is friendly, build out is fantastic, food solid and then the 16 draft beers. all pretty healthy stuff. dig the small plate idea...and my boys and i ordered the 10 wing plate? full wings!...massive pile of wing lovin'-beats anyone in town! caught somemusicthere on saturday. such a breath of fresh air. and, ps to the nay sayers on this side of town-get over the fact there is not a baked potato on property and they aren't throwing trash in the backyard to feed the javelinas.....great memories of the old days, but i like the new corners over the old by light years. go have fun there and thank them for bringing life to old spanish trail!
