disappointing. my husband and i went to the safari room a few nights ago during spokane's "restaurant week". we had reservations but arrived early so we sat at the bar for a while it's a fun, lively atmosphere. drinks weregreatand we enjoyed our time there. then we moved to the restaurant for dinner. things went downhill from there. first we noticed that the restaurant was basically empty even though it is "restaurant week". my husband chose from the $28 restaurant week menu. i chose from their standard 3 course $17.95 menu. my husband ordered the beet salad, scallops as the main course and 2 of the mini desserts. i ordered the caesar salad, salmon for the main course and 1 mini dessert. we realize that for discounted prices you won't get the most expensive items from the menu or the largest portions which is fine. but for $28 my husband got a small salad (okay), but the scallops, while tasting okay, consisted of 4 tiny scallops with a few tiny cubes of butternut squash and some onions. it was more like an appetizer portion than a main course. he was still hungry after dinner. my portions for both the salad and the main course were more generous than my husband's even though it was the $17.95 menu. but sadly the lettuce was not the freshest and the salmon was dry and overcooked. so the amount of food was better but not enjoyable. the mini desserts are as their name implies and are basically served in shot glass. one of them, german chocolate cake, was still partially frozen but the other two, key lime and chocolate mousse were okay. overall a disappointing experience at a place we thought would be a good choice to take advantage of restaurant week in spokane. we thought the purpose of restaurant week would be to whet folks' appetites and make them want to come back for more by showing off their delicious offerings. didn't happen. we may go back to the bar for drinks and perhaps try their flatbread pizza or appetizers but won't be dining there anymore.
