rusty's seafood & oyster bar

i can not give a good review when my wife has been sick from eating there on the 13th of december. today is the 15th and she is still dizzy and bleeding diarrhea from exposure to gluten. my first priority was to take care of her, not to write a review. she vomited on the waybackto orlando for about an hour. to say her food which was from the gluten free menu was tasty would not be accurate considering the outcome. the waitress gave her a gluten free menu when we arrived and each of us asked her to make sure it was gluten free. her response, even when the shrimp scampi was delivered to the table, “if it is on the gf menu, it must be gluten free”

we came in for lunch about 1pm, there is a strong fishy odor when you walk in, maybe to be expected of a fresh fish place. as we glanced to the side we could see part of the kitchen thru a hallway. server was nice and attentive, but as we discovered not knowledgeable about gluten! i had a mahi-philly which was pretty good. the wife told me the scampi was ok, but the butter type sauce was not tasty. she thought the noodles were odd tasting, considering the outcome, they might have been made with wheat.

chances are i will never be back. the meal came to about $30. not a value considering.

not horrible, but not near as good as expected. food was a little on the bland side. i've had much better for less $. this was recommended to us more for the atmosphere and it is neat seeing the ships but would not comebackfor the food.

great atmosphere and great food. we were able to sit on thebackdeck and listen to live music. the food was very good and portions generous as well as affordable. on top of that the restaurant sits right on the port so we were able to see a cruise liner depart which was a very cool experience.

blahi blahi fish tacos. i read the reviews and thought, maybe we should try this place! should've stayed home.

i'm not sure why everyone goes on about the "view." the view from thebackpatio is of a bunch of industrial buildings. wow! well worth paying tourist prices for!! (eye roll.)

the service was mind-numbingly slow. during our long wait for our food, i noticed that when the people next to us left, someone came out and wiped down the table with a greasy, filthy cloth. ugh!

after a lengthy wait for my fish tacos, they finally arrived stone cold and covered in unmelted cheese. i took a bite and they were completely tasteless. gross. i sent them back.

my husband ate his meal; i have no idea how it was. finally vanessa condescended to bring us our check, after an extraordinarily long time, and we had to call her over to bring us our change. thanks but no thanks, rusty's.

good ole rusty. been dropping in to rusty's for 24 years. it's a dockside bar & restaurant offering up basic seafood sandwiches, salads, and platters, and shellfish. prices are very reasonable. the seafood is fresh. there is a wide assortment of "boat drinks" the new deck is a great place to dine and the needed facelift that brings itbackto the forefront of port dining.

homestyle buffet. i went there for the lunch buffet which was 6.99, i was kind of disappointed since it is a seafood restaurant i was hoping it would have a lot of seafood on the buffet it only had fried shrimp and fried fish both of which were pretty good, though it did have a lot of other things that weren't seafood like two types of chicken wings, they had a lot of home-style things like mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, some good ham, and when i went there some amazing creamy tomato soup, which i used to dip all my fried seafood in. i went there for a seafood buffet and it was more like a home-style, though everything was pretty good, the place was really nice and the outside deck looked pretty awesome, no problems with the service, when i'm in the mood for seafood i'll probably comebackhere though i'll order something other than the buffet. i saw some people getting some raw shelled oyster that looked pretty cool might give that a try next time.

not a fan. this is the second time i've been here (although the first time was more than 3 years ago) and i heard they'd redone things. didn't like it very much the first time, and i have to say not that much better the second time. think i'm done trying.

the raw oysters are a great price, but they are full of mud and cracked shells. who shucks these things?

ordered the teriyaki garlic wings as well and the wings were a nice size but the sauce tasted like it was straight out of a bottle and way too sweet. i say this as someone who loves sweet, but this was too much. when the server came to clean up, she noticed it was only 1/2 eaten and we told her we didn't like it (but didn't asked to be comped or anything). she camebacklater and said 1/2 price would be taken off, which was really nice. when we got the bill, they took the whole thing off, which is the only thing that saved the meal for me.
