no other place like it, for realz.. where do i begin? i absolutely love this place. the food, drinks, ambiance and service...all top notch. i thoroughly enjoy the fact that the cantina is a place for grown ups. they're a bar, so the crowd is strictly 21+. so you have to wait a while to get a table sometimes...that tends to happen at popular places. more important, is it worth the wait?? hell yes. the food is amazing, fresh and seasoned to perfection. and the drinks! the cocktail menu is diverse and well-rounded with bourbon, vodka, rum and tequila drinks in addition to a lively selection of margaritas and top shelf tequilas. i've lived in both san fran and nyc and was beyond thrilled to find the cantina had opened in my absence. while it has its rightful place in the burgh's bar scene, i feel the owners have succeeded in created a stylish oasis for those seeking an experience outside the norm. as for those who come to the cantina in hopes of gaining a 4-star dining experience, please take note: it's a bar first, restaurant second! maybe yinz should head dahn eat n' park if you want that kind of treatment. just sayin'.

a warm welcome to what a bar should be in 2013. i'm a petty big bar junkie,

i like smaller venues that offer a sort of "mystery" as to what's really going on inside, the minute you walk into this place its almost like you feel at home, simply put the guy who put this thing together has a pretty banging idea of how to gather friends and dispense a over the top treat of comfort food, comfort drinks, this place is the type of place you wouldn't ever find someone arguing with someone in, this little gem is the best un-discovered place in pittsburgh, pa. i would drive an hour out of my way to bring my friends here. the next time i have a client or customer of mine that is looking for something "different" i am bringing them to this bar. there's nothing on the planet i've ever experienced in terms of over all look, quality, and down to earth people that all gather for laughs, and some fresh salsa... oh and the woman that gather here obviously figured out handsome folks like myself come here.

guys bring your wallet and don't plan on being a cheap ass, i would pay double for what i paid last night, there isn't jager bomb specials, drink wheels with prizes, you get more then you pay for... 6-7 bucks a drink truly keeps the "crap" down... no crown ruth vodka.... you're 7 dollar drink is going to be a heavy-hand pored mix of love, and the bar tender is lisping a daft punk song with a huge smile on her face, the people who work here are the happiest people in the world.

i could go on and on, coming from an x-bartender, and a bar junkie, i am going to plan on coming back to my new favorite hidden island in the charming area of lawrenceville.

been to rcc a few times and it's fun out on the patio, ok food at best and not extremely expensive. i went on a friday early (a little after 6:00) and dropped off my wife and came back with my daughter. i was nearly bodily restrained from going back to get her just to leave. kids aren't allowed after 6, which i didn't know and that's fine, i get it.

their attitude was totally unnecessary. i said as much when i was leaving and they were happy to watch me leave, making fun of me smugly as one could in pre-social-media days. yeah, bad move.

mediocre fare and a cool patio? you're one of many in l-ville. even without kids i have no need to return.

i have never written an unflattering review because i think in most cases you're catching someone on a bad day. this time, not so much...

never open!. i have tried to go on three different occasions, at times that one would expect a bar in lawrenceville to be open, but they have either told me that they were closing, or they have already closed and had gone home. i'd rate it properly if they'd ever stay open!

on the fence... one of those places were everything sounds better on paper. tacos lack some flavor but look good, kinda set you up to be disappointed. if you are really hungry or drunk, you might appreciate your meal more. most of the bartenders are quite arrogant and all of the servers that i have had to deal with so far have been total dick tips. if they changed their concept to something like whiskey dicks, so they could be rude on purpose cuz that was their shtick, they would make millions.

on a good note, i'm glad to see the dj nights they offer and the outside section is the best in the city. while it may sound like i am hating on this place, i will still go back. set your expectations low and you will be impressed.

ok food. terrible service.. i have been here 4 times... the staff is always rude and the food is always mediocre. in theory this place should be my favorite restaurant, (i am a native californian and mexican food is by far my most favorite cuisine) but in reality it is just ok. the thing that pushes me over the edge is the staff. i just don't get it. you guys do not need to be jerks to your customers. i thought it was only to me at first, but now i see they are pretty much rude to everyone that walks through their doors.

will unfortunately not be back. i have gone to the cantina numerous times because of the good drinks, the tacos and the back patio. i am also a lawrenceville business owner and want to support local businesses. it's a good spot...if you are not in a time crunch. the last time i visited i was with friends who had never been and wanted to try it out. i was downright appalled by the attitude of one of the women behind the bar; the servers are usually rather snarky, but she was openly mocking customers and being very rude toward a couple sitting at the bar (who ended up walking out). though i do enjoy some things there, i cannot continue to give my money to a restaurant that places no value on their customers. hire some new servers, please!

tasty and laid back atmosphere. my husband and i were at the cantina last night and arrived close to 7:00 just in time for happy hour drink prices. we ate outdoors and although it isn't a 5 star restaurant, we enjoyed the atmosphere. the food is good esp. the fresh salsa, guacamole and chips. did i say i love the chips? yummy.
the service is slow but then the place is very busy. don't go here unless you are in a hurry and offended by smoke. people can smoke outside.

unique place in lawrenceville. met some friends after work last night for some drinks and food. the outdoor patio feels like you are in some tropical jungle in mexico. the waitstaff were very attentive and quick with your orders. the chips and salsa were delicious as well as the seafood tacos. the prices i believe are a little high for lawrenceville. dos equis pitchers were $4.00 off during happy hour and still $14.00. $18.00 normally is an obscene price imo. however, that being said round corner cantina is a must see for a nice night out in the lawrenceville section of the pgh.

great hangout spot. had my first visit last night and will be going back frequently! happy hour specials were generous (a round of 1 sangria and 1 east end pale ale was $4.75 total), the homemade chips and salsas were fresh and satisfyingly salty. it was a guacaholic's dream bar food!

they must have made changes to the service because we had none of the negative experiences that anyone else relayed--we spent an hour or so in the bar and then a few hours back in the dining room.

finally, thank you for having house-made pickles on your menu! i noticed that's really big in other cities now, but you're the first place in pgh i've seen offering them. they were perfect--loved the mix of crunchy veggies and fruit!

if you can get a seat..... my friend and i went to the cantina because we'd heard so much about it and its new patio. while the patio did look nice, that was about all we got out of it. when they said its 'seat yourself,' we got a drink at theoutdoor bar and then stood and waited for a table to open up. what they should have told us is that its not so much seat yourself as it is 'better be read to pounce on a table before somebody else takes it right out from under you.' several groups were waiting for a table when a large new group swooped in and took a table before it was even cleared. the staff seemed to have no problem with this.....they are obviously not there to seat you. several groups that were there before us finally left because they just couldn't get to a table and the staff was so unhelpful. its one thing to be told at a restaurant that there's a 30 min wait......its another to have to wait 30 min and then fight tooth and nail to get a seat. i don't need 5 star dining, but the experience was piss poor. maybe the food is good (it smelled good), but it just wasn't worth the trouble.

pretty good food, but loud and overpriced. awesome sunday brunch with great patio. small menu, but strong selections and great cocktails. would give this place 5 stars, honestly, if it weren't for two things:

1. it's *slightly* overpriced for what you get. taco-wise, i think smoke is a much better value (better tasting, too), and it's just down the street.

2. the music is loud as all hell. had to scream across our table to have even a semblance of a conversation. like i said, the patio is beautiful, especially on a sunny sunday morning, but the dj kind of overpowers/ruins it. i love good music at a restaurant, but cantina seems to insist that their brunch is really a rave. cut the volume in half and this place would be unstoppable.

first off, it was uncomfy coming into the restaurant. we walked past the bar and had no idea where the dining room was. there was no server to greet us or tell us where to sit. we feel weird all the time. we don’t need your help feeling weirder. it was da
