no other place like it, for realz.. where do i begin? i absolutely love this place. the food, drinks, ambiance and service...all top notch. i thoroughly enjoy the fact that the cantina is a place for grown ups. they're a bar, so the crowd is strictly 21+. so you have to wait a while to get a table sometimes...that tends to happen at popular places. more important, is it worth the wait?? hell yes. the food is amazing, fresh and seasoned to perfection. and the drinks! the cocktail menu is diverse and well-rounded with bourbon, vodka, rum and tequila drinks in addition to a lively selection of margaritas and top shelf tequilas. i've lived in both san fran and nyc and was beyond thrilled to find the cantina had opened in my absence. while it has its rightful place in the burgh'sbarscene, i feel the owners have succeeded in created a stylish oasis for those seeking an experience outside the norm. as for those who come to the cantina in hopes of gaining a 4-star dining experience, please take note: it's abarfirst, restaurant second! maybe yinz should head dahn eat n' park if you want that kind of treatment. just sayin'.

a warm welcome to what abarshould be in 2013. i'm a petty bigbarjunkie,

i like smaller venues that offer a sort of "mystery" as to what's really going on inside, the minute you walk into this place its almost like you feel at home, simply put the guy who put this thing together has a pretty banging idea of how to gather friends and dispense a over the top treat of comfort food, comfort drinks, this place is the type of place you wouldn't ever find someone arguing with someone in, this little gem is the best un-discovered place in pittsburgh, pa. i would drive an hour out of my way to bring my friends here. the next time i have a client or customer of mine that is looking for something "different" i am bringing them to this bar. there's nothing on the planet i've ever experienced in terms of over all look, quality, and down to earth people that all gather for laughs, and some fresh salsa... oh and the woman that gather here obviously figured out handsome folks like myself come here.

guys bring your wallet and don't plan on being a cheap ass, i would pay double for what i paid last night, there isn't jager bomb specials, drink wheels with prizes, you get more then you pay for... 6-7 bucks a drink truly keeps the "crap" down... no crown ruth vodka.... you're 7 dollar drink is going to be a heavy-hand pored mix of love, and thebartender is lisping a daft punk song with a huge smile on her face, the people who work here are the happiest people in the world.

i could go on and on, coming from an x-bartender, and abarjunkie, i am going to plan on coming back to my new favorite hidden island in the charming area of lawrenceville.

never open!. i have tried to go on three different occasions, at times that one would expect abarin lawrenceville to be open, but they have either told me that they were closing, or they have already closed and had gone home. i'd rate it properly if they'd ever stay open!

will unfortunately not be back. i have gone to the cantina numerous times because of the good drinks, the tacos and the back patio. i am also a lawrenceville business owner and want to support local businesses. it's a good spot...if you are not in a time crunch. the last time i visited i was with friends who had never been and wanted to try it out. i was downright appalled by the attitude of one of the women behind the bar; the servers are usually rather snarky, but she was openly mocking customers and being very rude toward a couple sitting at thebar(who ended up walking out). though i do enjoy some things there, i cannot continue to give my money to a restaurant that places no value on their customers. hire some new servers, please!

great hangout spot. had my first visit last night and will be going back frequently! happy hour specials were generous (a round of 1 sangria and 1 east end pale ale was $4.75 total), the homemade chips and salsas were fresh and satisfyingly salty. it was a guacaholic's dreambarfood!

they must have made changes to the service because we had none of the negative experiences that anyone else relayed--we spent an hour or so in thebarand then a few hours back in the dining room.

finally, thank you for having house-made pickles on your menu! i noticed that's really big in other cities now, but you're the first place in pgh i've seen offering them. they were perfect--loved the mix of crunchy veggies and fruit!

if you can get a seat..... my friend and i went to the cantina because we'd heard so much about it and its new patio. while the patio did look nice, that was about all we got out of it. when they said its 'seat yourself,' we got a drink at theoutdoorbarand then stood and waited for a table to open up. what they should have told us is that its not so much seat yourself as it is 'better be read to pounce on a table before somebody else takes it right out from under you.' several groups were waiting for a table when a large new group swooped in and took a table before it was even cleared. the staff seemed to have no problem with this.....they are obviously not there to seat you. several groups that were there before us finally left because they just couldn't get to a table and the staff was so unhelpful. its one thing to be told at a restaurant that there's a 30 min wait......its another to have to wait 30 min and then fight tooth and nail to get a seat. i don't need 5 star dining, but the experience was piss poor. maybe the food is good (it smelled good), but it just wasn't worth the trouble.

gem of a place. the rcc is a great addition to the lower lawrenceville community. both the food and the cocktails totally blew me away.

first the food, we ordered just about everything. the ceviche is fresh and light and everything that ceviche should be. we also had the patatas grantinadas, frijoles con queso, tamales (best tamales i've ever had), empanadas and tacos, we ordered almost all of the tacos, chicken, skirt steak, roasted pork, pork belly, and chorizo. the sight of pork belly on the menu made us giddy with anticipation and it did not disappoint. the tacos are simple, as they should be with minimal but perfectly pair accompanyments. my only advice would be to ask them to double wrap the tacos.

throughout the meal, we of course couldn't resist the drink menu. the beer selection is varied and has just the right amount of hard to find beers on it. but the real joy is the cocktail menu. if i could sleep at the rcc i'd be tempted to try them all. thebaruses only fresh ingredients and it shows, no coke from a gun here! the "little sara" margarita, named after one of the three co-owners, was refreshing with fresh strawberries in it, i had several of those :) my other favorite standout drink was a vodka, and basil drink that screams summer and i coulda had about 10 of those! all of my dinner companions had a varied selection of cocktails, so many in fact that i can't remember them all to review them!

when we left we were happy, full and slightly buzzed both from the cocktails and the food coma we had put ourselves in.

you are missing out if you haven't checked out rcc yet.

worst experience of my life! last night i decided to come to this place to have a good time, instead it ended up being the worst experience of my life! after my friends and i ordered some food and drinks to the bartender, we realized that she had taken the wrong orders. then all of my friends got their food i waited an extra 20 minutes and went up to the bartender and asked "excuse me, but my friends and i ordered our food at the same time and they got their food about 20 minutes ago and i'm still waiting" the bartender replied "well, there's a full restaurant and it doesn't matter if you ordered at the same time you are all paying separately" (first of all, that has nothing to do with it). after another 10 minutes the runner came with my food and said "i'm sorry for the delay here is your food" and i said "thank you because she was very rude" then my friends and i see that the runner is talking to the bartender and we see the bartender coming towards me. i thought, oh she may just come and apologize. no! instead she said "do you have something to say to me?" and i said yes, that you were very rude back there" and she said "i was rude?" i said yes, all you had to say was "i'm sorry for your delay, let me check for you" and then she relied "well, i just comped that for you" i said but that was not the response i was looking for. "she then went back to thebarand from across thebarand in front of everyone screamed "if you don't like it leave!" i was so humiliated and pissed that i couldn't even eat my food and left. to my surprise i found out that she's a manager. great hospitality round conner cantina!!!!!

the attention to detail, creativity, and quality ingredients are just a few things that set over thebarbicycle cafe apart from other restaurants. there is also the friendly staff, led by manager jerri lauffer, and of course the setting and atmosphere. one can see the lake while dining and when the weather is nice, patrons can sit on the dock and more intimately appreciate the beautiful landscape. owner mike kotyk and his partners have done north park a true service by spending the last 3 years and half a million dollars renovating the boathouse, which sat mostly undisturbed for some 30 years. not only that, mr. kotyk has signed a five year lease with allegheny county meaning taxpayers will be getting a new source of revenue and an absolutely fabulous place to dine, drink or simply relax. - see more at: http://www.nightwire.net/?page_id=1263#sthash.1e7s90xm.dpuf

would never survive without the 90-minute piccolo forno wait time. the food was pretty good, but nothing special. thebararea has a good atmosphere (though it could use some more small tables) but the decorations are chintzy. the bouncer was the only friendly person working there. the eating area is a dive, and the server refused to help me close thebartab, and wasn't too concerned about meeting any of my needs. there were no complimentary chips and salsa and the servers all acted as if we were a nuisance. it wasn't a terrible experience, but diners deserve better.

what are the requirements to be considered a gastropub anyway?. the decor and clientele meet your usual hipster expectations, but remember this is lawrenceville and push on. thebaris old, raucous, and staffed by pretentious bartenders. all of this aside, swallow your pride and pbr with some great tacos. handmade guacamole is a great start . tacos al pastor were my favorite, with the pineapple adding a hint of sweetness to the savory meat. the carnitas too were well done- the meat was well-seasoned and slow cooked, but not chewy. all tacos come 2 per order and the quality of the food comes to a fair price (remember this isn't taco bell). table side hot sauce will add some heat.

beachbarfeel & drinks. after dinner at the coco cafe across the street, went here for drinks.barseemed a little intense, but saw the sign for the patio & felt like i was at a beach bar. the crowd skewed younger, but the drinks were tasty. great place to be on a warm summer night.

shame. i really love the back porch and the food. but the service is always terrible.

once, i reacted because they carry one of my favorite vodkas by saying "wow. great to see that you have luksasowa vodka." the server looked at me and said "i am suppose to say something? is that important?? i think she was trying to be clever. i felt sorry for her attempt. another time, the one bartender took 23 minutes to get a bottle of beer. blamed it on the servicebarup front. i didn't buy it. i think it was that fact she was talking to a group of friends at the bar.

i spent 7 years as a server/bartender/cook. i can't forgive intentionally poor service. the food is great and the environ is awesome. i may go back, maybe. but not tonight. going to get a frank instead where the staff is really cool and nice.
