no other place like it, for realz.. where do i begin? i absolutely love this place. the food, drinks, ambiance and service...all top notch. i thoroughly enjoy the fact that thecantinais a place for grown ups. they're a bar, so the crowd is strictly 21+. so you have to wait a while to get a table sometimes...that tends to happen at popular places. more important, is it worth the wait?? hell yes. the food is amazing, fresh and seasoned to perfection. and the drinks! the cocktail menu is diverse and well-rounded with bourbon, vodka, rum and tequila drinks in addition to a lively selection of margaritas and top shelf tequilas. i've lived in both san fran and nyc and was beyond thrilled to find thecantinahad opened in my absence. while it has its rightful place in the burgh's bar scene, i feel the owners have succeeded in created a stylish oasis for those seeking an experience outside the norm. as for those who come to thecantinain hopes of gaining a 4-star dining experience, please take note: it's a bar first, restaurant second! maybe yinz should head dahn eat n' park if you want that kind of treatment. just sayin'.

will unfortunately not be back. i have gone to thecantinanumerous times because of the good drinks, the tacos and the back patio. i am also a lawrenceville business owner and want to support local businesses. it's a good spot...if you are not in a time crunch. the last time i visited i was with friends who had never been and wanted to try it out. i was downright appalled by the attitude of one of the women behind the bar; the servers are usually rather snarky, but she was openly mocking customers and being very rude toward a couple sitting at the bar (who ended up walking out). though i do enjoy some things there, i cannot continue to give my money to a restaurant that places no value on their customers. hire some new servers, please!

tasty and laid back atmosphere. my husband and i were at thecantinalast night and arrived close to 7:00 just in time for happy hour drink prices. we ate outdoors and although it isn't a 5 star restaurant, we enjoyed the atmosphere. the food is good esp. the fresh salsa, guacamole and chips. did i say i love the chips? yummy.
the service is slow but then the place is very busy. don't go here unless you are in a hurry and offended by smoke. people can smoke outside.

unique place in lawrenceville. met some friends after work last night for some drinks and food. the outdoor patio feels like you are in some tropical jungle in mexico. the waitstaff were very attentive and quick with your orders. the chips and salsa were delicious as well as the seafood tacos. the prices i believe are a little high for lawrenceville. dos equis pitchers were $4.00 off during happy hour and still $14.00. $18.00 normally is an obscene price imo. however, that being said round cornercantinais a must see for a nice night out in the lawrenceville section of the pgh.

if you can get a seat..... my friend and i went to thecantinabecause we'd heard so much about it and its new patio. while the patio did look nice, that was about all we got out of it. when they said its 'seat yourself,' we got a drink at theoutdoor bar and then stood and waited for a table to open up. what they should have told us is that its not so much seat yourself as it is 'better be read to pounce on a table before somebody else takes it right out from under you.' several groups were waiting for a table when a large new group swooped in and took a table before it was even cleared. the staff seemed to have no problem with this.....they are obviously not there to seat you. several groups that were there before us finally left because they just couldn't get to a table and the staff was so unhelpful. its one thing to be told at a restaurant that there's a 30 min wait......its another to have to wait 30 min and then fight tooth and nail to get a seat. i don't need 5 star dining, but the experience was piss poor. maybe the food is good (it smelled good), but it just wasn't worth the trouble.

pretty good food, but loud and overpriced. awesome sunday brunch with great patio. small menu, but strong selections and great cocktails. would give this place 5 stars, honestly, if it weren't for two things:

1. it's *slightly* overpriced for what you get. taco-wise, i think smoke is a much better value (better tasting, too), and it's just down the street.

2. the music is loud as all hell. had to scream across our table to have even a semblance of a conversation. like i said, the patio is beautiful, especially on a sunny sunday morning, but the dj kind of overpowers/ruins it. i love good music at a restaurant, butcantinaseems to insist that their brunch is really a rave. cut the volume in half and this place would be unstoppable.

i have visited round cornercantinain the past just for happy hour or something but i recently made my first trip to round cornercantinajust for the food. i haven’t ventured to too many restaurants in lawrenceville yet, that will be on my to do list in 2014. however, i wasn’t that impressed with my trip to round corner cantina. we ordered some chips and guacamole to start, i wasn’t crazy about the guacamole. to me it really lacked flavor. they give you a dish of it with lime and jalapeno but it just did nothing for me. i stuck with the salsa and that was pretty much forgettable. onto the main event, i ordered 2 types of tacos: carnitas and chorizo. each order comes with 2 tacos. carnitas – slow roast pork, cucumber, onion, radish, cilantro. my sister told us this was her favorite and we should try it. this was my least favorite. what really ruined the dish for me was the cucumber. i like cucumber but it tasted like the cucumber had been pickled and well pickles just don’t go well wi

round cornercantinais no frills nitty gritty meets comfort food mexican. as lawrenceville is one of pittsburgh's oldest neighborhoods, it is home to many historic row houses including the round cornercantina(it is right on the corner in case you couldn't garner that from its name). homes like these were incredibly small and in some instances, extremely narrow. upon stepping in you are immediately in the bar area which features a couple of tables in addition to seating at the bar. however, if you just take a few steps further you are then in a rather dark room that features about half a dozen high

the bar has a local charm to it. the seating arrangement is definitely tailored to the younger, more forgiving crowd and the twenty-one and over rule gives the round cornercantinaan aura of credibility that i think supports the business...

a new improved cantina. a year ago, i would have avoidedcantinafor its pushy, unfriendly waitstaff. i could have rattled off a number of unpleasant experiences, including a instance where a waitress took half an hour to fulfill my boyfriend's drink order, and another time where my friend and his party had to add up their own check (that includes tax, by the way). while they make delicious food and serve up some distinct cocktails, including one with ginger beer, their people were killing the buzz.

apparently, cantinahasn't ignored the many angry reviews, tweets and customer complaints made in recent months. on the few occassions i've visited since may, i've noticed a marked improvement in their service. the waitresses are courteous and attentive and the place looks better than ever. now i can finally recommend their seitan tacos, salsa and chips (they make a great salsa verde) and $16 tecate bucket with confidence. nice work, cantina.

simply stated, round cornercantinadelivers. it's a bar that happens to have fantastic food... just check out the menu and you will see. it's 3/4 bebidas, tequilas, and cervezas (try the sweet tea for refreshment with a kick... it's all about the fresh mint). what i like is that the menu doesn't overwhelm you with options; it merely points you in the right direction. i recommend tacos de chorizo, tacos de carnitas, tacos de pescado, and tacos de puerco; but i am willing to eat anything on the menu based on how delicious those items are. each taco (an order comes with two) is a flavor explosion that wrapped in double-layered warm, soft shell with just enough cilantro to remind you that it's mexican.

hands down one of my favorite places to eat and drink!. after reading some of the reviews on round cornercantinai felt compelled to write one myself. each time that i have eaten, drank, or just chilled at round corner i have had a blast. service is great, food is great, the entire vibe of the place is fun and laid back. as a fan of mexican food this has to be one of my favorites. the menu strays from the same old dishes and the owners and chefs put a twist on the old staples. after reading some of the reviews it is clear that some people don't understand mexican food or what round corner is trying to represent; a fresh take on a classic style. the drinks are amazing. i really don't know how else to put it. i highly recommend round corner to anyone, unless you are a stick in the mud and don't like to have a good time.

good atmosphere, average food, bad ownership. i live in lawrenceville and love to walk to and support local restaurants and bars.cantinadid a great job with its atmosphere and vibe and is a really great place to grab a drink. i have eaten there about 5 times and can say that i have given the menu enough tries and classify the food as not very good, especially for the price, but i still like the atmosphere enough to want to go there for a beer every once in a while. what i can't get over though is one of the owners extremely rude personality. i believe her name is sarah. the rest of the staff seems pretty cool. i have found this persons personality so offputting that i do not want to support her business anymore with my money. i have spoken to some other local residents that feel the same way, so me and my girlfriend will be going elsewhere in l-ville for drinks.

great cocktails, good food. rcc has some of the best cocktails in the greater lawrenceville area...i'd probably say for cocktail consistency from any bartender, they're probably the best. their sangrias are amazing and the españa michelada is incredible.

having worked in the service industry for 10+ years, i am bemused by some of the reviews complaining about service. i'm rather inclined to think of these reviewers as being generally unacquainted with points of service. i've never had a problem with service, nor have i noticed others not being served in a timely, efficient and polite fashion. i have been to thecantinaat least 12 times in the year they've been open.

the food is delicious. if you go during sunday brunch, i'd highly recommend the carnes y huevos: delicious-looking steak, fried eggs, tomatoes, green onions & tortilla.

thecantinais closed on tuesdays, and a sign outside rcc clearly notes that they serve only patrons 21+
