solid food. rosario's provides an entertaining dining experience. as soon as you enter the restaurant especially at night, you are overwhelmed with all the happenings such as the salsa dancing, live band, the bar, or all the patrons at the restaurant. i've been several times. if you don't mind paying $15 for the grande patron margarita, get it. it tastes amazing and you will feel it. the shrimp nachos would make a perfect pairing as it has ample shrimp with great flavoring. the chie relleno de pescado was outstanding. my favorite was the sauce that accompanied it. i do enjoy thefishtacos here too although they are not the best in the city. the fajitas are equally tasty. there is a tendency for the flautas to have a burnt look to them which certainly doesn't taste good on the outside. the rice isn't as moist as i like but the beans are good. i love love the chips and salsa. best in the city!

oh man that was good.... hat tip to stay thirsty, he gave the go ahead for this great mexican place a few months ago. great neighborhood place in a historic building south of downtown/riverwalk area. guacamole, salsa and chips to start (de riguer but very tasty), a michelada (beer bloody mary) for a little spice. i had the mollejas a la plancha (veal sweet breads in a stewed tomato sauce) which now tops my list of best mexican foods ever stuffed in my face... absolutely fantastic, crunchy, creamy, dense, delicate, etc., etc. my wife had thefishtacos which were superb. interestingly, my sons kiddie enchiladas were freaking excellent, best enchiladas i've ever tasted. all in all, it's wonderfully located, the service, staff and food are top-notch and they have a heart felt local following that will recommend it to guests, out -of-towners and friends.

love thefishtacos. tasty and light---yet filling. love the combination of slaw and sauce used in with the grilled flavor of the fish.

the salsa wasn't typical- more like a smoky pepper/ tomato flavor rather than fresh tomato, but good. the enchiladas verdes andfishtacos were great!

fish tacos.fishtacos are probably the best choice on the menu, they are fantastic, full of flavor, fresh and healthy. i had the chicken/shrimp fajitas but they were dry...margaritas are good and the wait on friday around 7pm seems to be around 20 minutes every time.

in san antonio for a week... first post on urbanspoon. this place is worth writing about. thefishtacos are incredible. don't skip the slaw on these... i sat at the bar two nights... dining alone. great service... the best chili releno i've ever had... shrimp andfishstuffed. if loud places annoy you then maybe come for lunch. i'm here during the nba finals.... go spurs go.

best meal of our visit.......... a buddy of mine and me went to check this place out from a recommendation:
we were not disappointed. great chips and salsa to start out;
we both had the ceviche-good portion offishand the mixture of lime juice, cilantro, and red sliced onions were perfect. i would like to see some jalapenos in there for just a little added heat.
had the lengua and it was so tender and flavorful-by far the best i have had.
a cold dos equis to wash it all down.....perfect lunch.
if possible-sit at the bar, if avail, for faster service instead of a table if you are on a time crunch like we were. it all worked out.

rosario’s mexican cafe y cantina is walking distance from most downtown san antonio hotels, but is not on the riverwalk. it’s where locals go. earlier this year, city folk chose rosario’s  salsa as the best in san antonio. we nibbled the tortilla chips with that spicy fresh made salsa while sipping our margarita’s and perusing the menu. we decided on the chicken chipotle with grilled chicken breast over sauteed spinach, topped with a creamy chipotle sauce, and served with poblano rice ($10.95);  the griselda’s tacos callejeros with three corn tortillas lightly grilled, spread with black beans and filled with shredded chicken, cabbage lime slaw, fresh avocado and queso fresco ($10.25); and two grilledfishtacos  with pan-grilled tilapia, chipotle mayo, cabbage slaw, pickled onions and fresh avocado ($6.95). i’d recommend it for good simple food that won’t break the bank with friendly service.   - bonnie follow @bonniebotb rosario’s mexican cafe y cantina 910 s alamo s

i follow this withfishtacos. i am really not expecting such unique and vibrant flavors. the white cabbage, red onions, and green avocado make it a pretty dish as well. this meal is such a pleasant surprise all around. i actually found thefishtacos recipe online, and look forward to making this at home.

classy mexican cuisine. this place is a nice half mile stroll from the riverwalk. it seats 200+ people but in separate rooms. the decor is understated but comfortable and interesting. the service crew is art in action. they bus, wait, and serve with grace and speed. everyone in my party thought their food was 1st class. be sure and try the cabbage lime slaw. i went minimalist and had the grilledfishtacos; they were excellent. you will leave full and happy. margarita sippers will be in for a treat.

order and appetizer. this past saturday night i went to rosario's with four other friends. we sat in the dining area without much of a wait at 6 pm. loved their salsa. service was attentive and helpful with questions on the menu. tried the ceviche, which was a new dish for me. it tasted fresh. i didn't drink, but the rest of the table loved their sangrias. one one low point of the meal was that ordering thefishchalupas meant that i got exactly two chalupas on a plate with nothing else on it. same for everything else my friends ordered, so it's a la carte, not a plate, so to speak. had i realized this i might have ordered an appetizer so that i wasn't so tempted to stop off on the way home for a snack! the decor was a high point. interesting original artwork and very colorful interior. parking can be a problem.
