thisplaceis far too inconsistent. we go here at least once a week bc it is the local neighborhood restaurant that isn't theplacewith the smiley cookie or fries on the sandwich. we are pretty consistent in what we order and it's never the same twice. and more often than not, it's bad. the final straw for thisplacewas when we went for sunday brunch. their dessert display was set up on tiers of unsupported panes of glass. a patron leaned herself on one of the panes thinking it was a real shelf and the whole thing came crashing down. glass flew everywhere including the garnish tray behind the bar. we sat in horror as we watched the staff clean up the mess, and anything that looked like it didn't land "top down" was placed back on a plate and served. we were done. i refuse to go back to aplacethat finds it acceptable to serve food that potentially has shattered glass through it. this happened in the front of the house. so what are they doing to your food behind closed doors? beware of this place.

one of our favorites!. we have never had a bad meal here. from the appetizers to the entrees, everything is fabulous! we are a big fan of the appetizers! i think we have tried almost all of them and love them all! our favorites are the poutine, the stuffed peppers and the zucchini. also love the bada bing shrimp and beans and greens. the seafood entrees have all been amazing too. we love the dinner specials and happy hour specials. rb now has my favorite burger - the gouda burger is as gouda as it gets!

we go as a couple, brought our family and friends. i bring my clients and co-workers here and they all rave about it. everyone we have turned on to thisplaceare fans after their experience here. it's obvious the word is out, as it has become quite busy especially during the weekends. make ressies if you are going during peak times. i hear they have an amazing brunch. that is next on our list.

our service has always been top notch. our favorite server is drew. he is attentive and always pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu options.

the restaurant is designed and decorated perfectly. the front of the house is great for lunches and happy hour get togethers, while the rear of the restaurant is tastefully decorated for a quieter dining experience. super clean inside and convenient parking make this one of the best options in the area.

another great meal!. this was our second visit to roman bistro and it certainly won't be our last! we enjoyed the gouda burger and the blackened prime rib sandwich along with the poutine. our son had the wings and pasta. we are already planning on a return visit soon with friends. happy hour specials are great!

forest hills favorite. we were pleasantly surprised by our recent experience at roman bistro. we were looking for an italian restaurant with some seafood options for an anniversary celebration. there were 4 in our dining party on a friday night.

as you enter, there is a spacious hostess area directly across from the bar. the bar area was busy and there was also a front dining area that appeared to be filled. we arrived around 6:30 and theplacewas very active, but we were seated immediately. there were several dining areas in the back which provided for a more quiet dining experience for families or couples wanting to actually converse. the decor was tastefully done throughout the entire restaurant. i was impressed.

they offered some daily blackboard specials that sounded interesting. the menu had a wide variety of italian dishes, seafood, burgers, sandwiches, appetizers, salads, etc. there is something for everyone.

they offer a vast selection of craft beers and even have a cigar shop. the guys sampled some of the beer, we ladies opted for a pitcher of the house made sangria which was tasty.

we choose to try the roman style poutine for an appetizer. it was different than other poutines you may have tried, but this was amazing. we could not stop eating it!

for our entrees, 2 of us went with one of specials, halibut with sweet chili sauce. it came with white rice and snow peas. it was cooked perfectly. i only wish there would have been more of the chili sauce.

our other entrees were the sausage and gnocchi in vodka sauce - very tasty and the chicken romano which was plated perfectly and was reported as delicious.

we all ended our meal by sharing a dessert of tiramisu. it was delish.

our service was efficient, friendly and attentive.

finally, aplaceto go for dinner in the area that you can be sure to find a meal that will satisfy anyone in your group. prices are what you would expect for what you would select from burgers to "foodie fabulous" dining. i would recommend to others and would not hesitate to go again.

stopped here for lunch. we loved the draft beer selection. i got a reuben which is my standard way of rating a newplaceand my friend ordered the chicken parm sandwich. i thought his sandwich looked a little dry but he said it was good. while my reuben was tasty i have to say the bottom bread was a bit soggy. top piece was toasted nicely. we enjoyed the bar and the atmosphere. i would definitely go back

thisplaceputs the monterey bay fish grotto atop mt. washington to shame.  i've been a few times and cannot believe the quality of food and service in forest hills.  my last visit i had the caprese salad, cheese ravioli with a garlic cream sauce and grilled salmon.  it was to die for.  the salad has fresh tomatoes and basil with a delicious balsamic drizzle for a delightfully refreshing salad.  the fresh bread and dipping oil are a great accompaniment.   i love the flavors of the grilled salmon - herbs and seasonings instead of the typical and flavorless fruit glazed salmon everywhere else.  the fresh lemon juice gave a wonderfully tart contrast to the sauce and ravioli.  it is my new favorite dish of any restaurant.

good but over priced. food was good but prices are at least $5-$9 more than most comparableplacefor the same item and everything is a la carte.
i had one glass of wine, side salad and a dinner was $33 just for me.

we have been here twice. this is an update to my previous review. we didn't have a great experience the last time. we often think of giving this restaurant another try because it is so close and it is alway busy. the parking lot is always full. tonight was no exception. thisplacewas buzzing with activity.

roman bistro has a great selections of beer, wine, and everything else you could want to compliment your meal.

we each had an appetizer. we both had beer. my husband had the bada- bing shrimp appetizer. he thought they were excellent and a perfect portion size. i had fried zucchini. lightly breaded, perfectly fried, and delicious marinara and horseradish sauces on the side.

entrees were mixed. i had the butternut squash ravioli. they were flavorful and surrounded by a nice light sauce and vegetables. i am not sure if they were homemade. they were a little "perfect". it came with a disappointing and overcooked side of veggies. a salad would have been much better. i noticed many little veggie sides going out, but none we really being consumed. my husband's dinner was a total disappointment. he had the chicken romano. it was very thickly breaded and the sauce was incredibly thick making the pasta stick together. he said it also tasted like flour. the flour taste was to pervasive that he only ate about half. he said it wasn't worth taking home leftovers.

our waiter, brandon, was great. he is friendly and knows the menu.

the noise level in the bar area is crazy. when we arrived, the music was so loud we could barely have a conversation. televisions are on nearly every single wall. i think there were five above the bar. it is very distracting.

we have decided that we probably wouldn't visit for dinner again. however, we would gladly return for a couple of drinks and appetizers.

note: i had written a review before, but don't seem to see it. in that review i had also mentioned noise and inconsistent food. we also had an issue with service. while food still seems inconsistent, things definitely seem better. our first visit was in the early weeks of opening and we should have given it a try again sooner, but sour experience really had an impact. it took some effort to try again.

roman bistro - great restaurant. great restaurant, great food, pleasant atmosphere. niceplacefor a quiet intimate dinner or to meet with friends in the bar area for a little livlier fun. my first visit to the roman bistro yesterday. terriffic menu.the food was great, the waiting staff was tops. good service and very friendly. we had plenty to eat, plenty of time to talk with each other without a lot of noise and not having the feeling of being rushed. so much to choose from on the menu, we knew from the beginning we would have to come back to try some of the other choices. a definite 10+ and we will be back!

classy neighborhood type bistro. love theplacecause it doesn't take itself too seriously while offering a varied, changing menu with usually good, fresh ingredients. good, friendly service. very good hummus appetizer. stuffed pepper was a little too spicy for me. had excellent branzino that rivaled some i've had at expensive places i've taken clients to. wine selection just ok. overall it is a classy, unpretentious neighborhood type bistro.

horrible food and service!!!
went to roman bistro last friday and i just don't understand how come thisplaceis still open.
the hostess was very pleasant and we were seated right away. from then, everything went down the hill. our waiter was rude and knew nothing about the food and drinks menu. the food tasted blend and had no flavor. when we try to get our waiter to fix the problem, he was no where to be found. we just paid our overpriced meal and left. will never recommend thisplaceto our friends.

bad!!!. had the calamari for an appetizer and it was tough, rubbery and very bland, the pasta was overcooked, limp and not properly drained as it was swimming in my red sauce (which tasted like sugar) terribleplaceto eat and will never go back.

oh so so-so. i've been to the roman bistro twice. i gave it a thumbs up because it wasn't bad. theplaceitself is very nice, my waitress was pleasant both times.

the food was run of the mill pittsburgh style italian. the first time around i had a grilled shrimp salad. it was good. it wasn't great, it was good, maybe a bit shy on the shrimp. it was fresh and tasty and $17. probably $5 too much in my opinion.

the second time around i had a pasta dish. gnocci and italian sausage in vodka sauce. it was good. not at all distinctive, it tasted good, but not good enough to make me crave bistro 33's gnocci. again, $16 was a bit steep.

all in all, it'n not bad, it was so-so. it was like many of the other italian restaurants around.

bottom line is, you probably won't be disappointed, but you won't be wowed.
