rocket 88 is definitely a place for meat lovers but if you're vegetarian you can easily combine some of the side dishes to create a meal. our waitress was veryfriendlyand checked in quite regeularly. they're prices are reasonable for their food and cocktails. i have to say with my options being limited the food was pretty average for me. i do however like the idea of coming to get a braaibroodjie when i crave it because i'm always too lazy to braai.

heard a lot of hype around this place and i've been dying to give it a whirl. opening the menu reveals what i like in a restaurant, simple foods, but combined and prepared in a way that i can appreciate. atmosphere: quiet lunchtime, but there were a few other tables in there. we sat outside and combined with a nice cool day, the place had a good feel about it. service: waitress was superfriendlyand gave some suggestions that turned out to be a winner. food and drinks. today i felt daring and went with a steelworx and my mom had the ice tea with kiwi and cucumber. i would of appreciated my drink mixed a bit as the first taste was about a gallon of bitters and the garnish on the cucumber ice tea was a bit overboard. still acceptable though. food arrived pretty quickly. i ordered ribs and half onion rings and half chips. my mom the jaffel with chips. good choices. ribs came with a sweet and spicy sauce and tasted great. my mom said the filling of the jaffel was a smidgen bland and was missing something. besides those minor qualms the place get a thumbs up. lunch for 2 with drinks came to 250 with tip. very fair. i'll be back.

rocket 88 is odly a very wholesome place to eat, with traditional sa meals andfriendlystaff. what's really remarkable though are their low prices. you can have a fun night for under r100. something that sounds really good to this student...

rockett 88 bar & braai is popular and for good reason. we sat outside and enjoyed the late winter sunshine. i love that one chooses one's own combinations of food from the menu.
lamb chops, grilled on the braai with boereboontjies: green beans, sliced finely and stewed with potato & onion. delicious, delicious, delicious!
the children had pampoenkoekies (pumpkin fritters) and potato bake as sides - all tasty.
service wasfriendly(rachel) but the food took ages to come. one is warned on the menu that it takes at least 30 min!

wonderlike bykos. groenboontjies, pampoenkoekies en aartappelgebak soos ouma dit maak. en braaibroodjies. heerlik! kos 4.5/5!

i absolutely love this restaurant! and by the look of patrons queueing at the door, every person in pretoria feels the same! it was jam-packed and i definitely now know why. the food is typical 'afrikaans' culture. braaivleis with side that typically are served at a braai. some items are very well-priced, some are a little over-priced for what you get. the chicken fillets are the best i have ever eaten- i haven't had anything that even comes close! unfortunately the skilpadjies were sold old so that was a bit disappointing.
the service was great and the waiter was reallyfriendlyand experienced.
i cannot wait to go back for more!
