rock bottom restaurant & brewery

rude staff!
just stopped atrockbottom after man of lamancha. sat down and bartender offered a drink, but if he offered a menu we never heard. when my wife asked if a menu had been offered, he rudely responded, "i offered!" to which she apologized and said she missed that. rather than accepting the misunderstanding and moving forward, he said, "well i did." we paid our drink bill and went to the host desk to ask for a manager. we were done there, but wanted to let them know why as many places ask for a customers to give them a chance to make it right. we did and she offered a table away from him. while a nice gesture, it really did not address how we were treated by patrick. we let her know we were going to grab a bite and another drink elsewhere to which she wished us a good night. if one wonders why this establishment was 10% full on friday night, wonder no more.

needs better service. 3rd year in a row that i've gone to this restaurant for my birthday. the first year i remember the service was poor when my party sat on the patio to eat. the 2nd year my date and i sat inside and had great service. this recent time will be unforgettable. i wanted to sit outside, so we got a table with no problem. however no one came to even greet us after 20 minutes. finally my cousin went to the hostess and told them. there was another table next to us whose party was seated a few minutes after we had been. the waitress worked both of our tables, however that second table kept getting service before us, from drinks, to food, to small things such as app plates and condiments. the only reason i keep returning torockbottom is because i love the food. unfortunately after this past experience i don't think i should return.

disappointed. this weekend, 20 professionals were looking for an outside location to relax after dinner at approximately 11:30 pm. the staff atrockbottom brewery did not want to help us and suggested we go to the bar ourselves to get beverages (while they continued with their conversation). glad this place will not be considered for my 100+ company party. immediately removed this place from the list based on my recent experience. in this economy, everyone wants customers/business - it might be worth the cost to provide courtesy/manners training forrockbottom brewery staff.

poor service. i and 3 others went torockbottom on saturday night around 10 pm. we went to the bar and one of our party, who wasn't drinking, was served a soda after some delay, but the rest of us were left standing there without service. eventually the bartender came back to our end of the bar and after some discussion about the beer options on-tap the rest of us were served. we paid for the round, including a tip. while sitting at a table right next to the bar we decided to order another round. at this point the bartender decided that we had had enough and refused to serve us. apparently one of our out-of-town guests appeared to be quite intoxicated (she wasn't) and the bartender decided we had had enough and refused to serve us. we weren't loud, had done nothing obnoxious, and still have no idea as to what it was we did to not be served. courtney, the bartender, indicated that it was at her and our waittress' disgression as to who would be served and that they, as a team, had decided we were not going to be served any additional drinks. that, and the fact our guest from out of town appeared intoxicated, apparently were the only deciding factors. i have never been asked to leave bar or refused service in my life and was embarrassed having it happen on saturday night. i'm a 45 year old technical professional and father of two.

i did call back and talk to the manager after getting back to the hotel. he indicated a manager should have been called rather than our service stopped without explanation. he took my number so he could call me back, but as of now i haven't heard from him. future trips to milwaukee will won't includerockbottom.

simply awesome. it was our first visit torockbottom restaurant milwaukee and we were really surprised to see how nice the ambiance was, specially the riverwalk. the location is really great due to its river walk patio. we went there on new year's weekend and had a gala time there. since it was so cold outside we could not get the real joy of sitting by the riverside enjoying the ambiance. we spent long time in the patio area by the riverside. it is a nice place to hang out and enjoy happy hour with your friends. therockbottom is superb, one of the best restaurant experiences we have ever had.

the naughty scott beer atrockbottom was amazing. but more interesting thing was the river walk patio. the location is perfect and the overall place and ambiance really impressed me. if you are planning to spend some time with your spouse in a summer evening then this is the right spot. not only the location but the food they served specially the margherita pizza was awesome. i was so impressed that i'm planning on making the trip with my family soon.

never forget the scenic river. i never forget the scenic river, where therockbottom is located. you will enjoy this place during summer. outdoor seating traveling by boat all adds special flavor to this restaurant. the food and beer was pretty good. besides having their own collection of beers they have original seafood salad and sandwiches.

great outdoors. i likerockbottom, milwaukee, for the setting. the location is perfect for folks who like to dine outdoors. service was friendly and quick. the apps we had were tasty, but nothing amazing. likwewise with the beer. i will say that the ipa is good. it's not hoppalicious, or bitter woman good, but it is refreshing. nice place to stop for a bite and a beer on the patio, and move on to more unique places.

great location/environment, okay food, and terrible service. i dined atrockbottom multiple times and experienced absolutely horrid service on every occasion to the point where i did not enjoy myself. don't waste your time.

great outdoor patio on the river. great location but not much else. the menu includes the standard amerasianeurosouthwest confusion fusion offerings so many chain restaurants seem to cling to. nothing original or outstanding here. the service was slow and inattentive. we've been for weekend brunch and weekday lunches butrockbottom brewery is consistently mediocre - except for that riverfront outdoor seating. visit in summer when you aren't in a hurry and aren't terribly hungry. then order a beer and enjoy the view.

great burgers, just ok beer. as @theweasel stated,rockbottom brewery isn't going to win any big awards for there brews. at the same time, it's fun to drink a pint of beer at the same place it was made, and they do have some seasonals that are quite good.

the food on the other hand was great. i've been to the location in the minneapolis airport a few times, and felt the food was just ok. the food in milwaukee (at least the burgers) were amazing. fries were done to perfection. the coleslaw was also very good. in my group we ordered two patty melts and one bourbonzoula (not sure on spelling). all three were amazing.

i will definitely return next time i'm in the area for a burger and beer. the location is also what makes this restaurant shine.

decent beer and food. we were in town to get out of minneapolis for a long weekend and checkout the local brewing scene androckbottom just happened to be 2 blocks from our hotel.

nice location right on the river (it was early spring so the outdoor seating wasn't setup but it would have allowed for a very nice atmosphere to enjoy a couple beers and some food). indoors it was like any otherrockbottom. bf off to one side, dining area separated from the bar area.

food is the same at allrockbottom locations (as is the decor) so if you've been to one you've been to them all. typical burger and fries, steaks, a little seafood, some pasta, and pizzas. most is pretty good and the prices aren't bad.

the beer features 5 full-time beers and rotating seasonals (usually 1 or 2 seasonals on at a time). at the time they only had one seasonal that didn't have much to offer. some of therockbottom locations offer beers by the same name as other locations (maybe to save the corporation some $$ on copyrighting multiple names). although the feature the same name they are totally different beers. erik the red is also served at the minneapolis location but the minneapolis version is much maltier with a much tastier final result. nothing impressive beer wise here in milwaukee.

should note that if you enjoyrockbottom you should sign up for the free mug club. you get a .5 liter glass instead of a pint and earn free prizes. much better then the lame club at old chicago (also owned byrockbottom).

overallrockbottom isn't a bad place to go for a couple beers and a meal but there are better brewpubs in town that exceed it by far.
