rock bottom restaurant & brewery

rude staff!
just stopped at rock bottom after man of lamancha. sat down and bartender offered a drink, but if he offered a menu we never heard. when my wife asked if a menu had been offered, he rudely responded, "i offered!" to which she apologized and said she missed that. rather than accepting the misunderstanding and moving forward, he said, "well i did." we paid our drink bill and went to the host desk to ask for a manager. we were done there, but wanted to let them know why as many places ask for a customers to give them a chance to make it right. we did and she offered a table away from him. while a nice gesture, it really did not address how we were treated by patrick. we let her know we were going to grab a bite and another drink elsewhere to which she wished us agoodnight. if one wonders why this establishment was 10% full on friday night, wonder no more.

stopped here on a thursday.  the wait staff was very friendly and attentive.  everybody in my 7 person group hadgoodfood and a great selection of beer.  make sure if you enjoy beer, to take a flight or two.  i got the buffalo chicken sliders and traded one for a beef slider.  they were great.  **by slider they are basically small burgers, not a traditional greasy slider.

slow & lazy staff. service very slow, waitress seemed liked she didn't even care about serving us, just asking us how things are when she happened to walk by. it took her 20 minutes to get drinks to our table, we were at the table for 30 minutes before we got our appetizer, (which another waiter brought), 50 minutes for our food, (again another waiter brought our food), she never cleared any empty dirty dishes from our table, again a different waitress did and someone brought us the bill for payment. the biggest thing is that we told our waitress we had a 7:30 show at the pabst, she was so lazy and slow we almost had to take our food togoodwithout eating, so we ended rushing and eating quickly to make it to the show on time. i also saw another couple that ate there at the show and ask them how their experience was at "rock bottom", they had the same terrible service. well there is 6 people that will not be returning customers.

good. had the mac & cheese- it was really good. tried the seasonal pumpkin ale and it was also agoodchoice. tasted the salmon and the flavors were great and cooked well. would be a great place to go and have beers in the summer- outdoor seating has amazing views.

the service wasgoodand the wait wasn't too long (20 min). the food was ok; probably impacted by a mistake with our appetizer. we ordered nachos which got misplaced such that our server let us know they would come after our burgers arrived. the nachos made it before our burgers but the burgers both came out cooked more than a medium. my guess is they left them cooking a little longer to give nor time between. even with all of this the food wasn't bad and they comped the nachos. i will defenitly go back as i thought this was a one off occurance and i felt they handled it well.

decent beer and food. we were in town to get out of minneapolis for a long weekend and checkout the local brewing scene and rock bottom just happened to be 2 blocks from our hotel.

nice location right on the river (it was early spring so the outdoor seating wasn't setup but it would have allowed for a very nice atmosphere to enjoy a couple beers and some food). indoors it was like any other rock bottom. bf off to one side, dining area separated from the bar area.

food is the same at all rock bottom locations (as is the decor) so if you've been to one you've been to them all. typical burger and fries, steaks, a little seafood, some pasta, and pizzas. most is prettygoodand the prices aren't bad.

the beer features 5 full-time beers and rotating seasonals (usually 1 or 2 seasonals on at a time). at the time they only had one seasonal that didn't have much to offer. some of the rock bottom locations offer beers by the same name as other locations (maybe to save the corporation some $$ on copyrighting multiple names). although the feature the same name they are totally different beers. erik the red is also served at the minneapolis location but the minneapolis version is much maltier with a much tastier final result. nothing impressive beer wise here in milwaukee.

should note that if you enjoy rock bottom you should sign up for the free mug club. you get a .5 liter glass instead of a pint and earn free prizes. much better then the lame club at old chicago (also owned by rock bottom).

overall rock bottom isn't a bad place to go for a couple beers and a meal but there are better brewpubs in town that exceed it by far.
