riverbar & kitchen

my favourite bite of the night was the salt & pepper squid, coriander & lime which were supremely cooked and literally melted in my mouth. i have not had better cooked calamari and they had a lovely heat to them with a little chilli, just delicious (orgasmic with a squeeze of lemon). it's amazing how a simple bucket of prawns can make you smile, but we had at least three buckets of prawns, so my smile was big!

don't order flathead fillets they were a waste of time. ours were served with overcooked, oily and unsalted chips, and our friends who ate an hour earlier had their fish come out raw. expected so much more.

great night. brisbane so needs this! drinks and bites after work last night. crab sliders, lamb quesadillas and pork buns. all great! service a little slow but i guess they've just opened and we weren't in any hurry (there was pimms to drink while we were waiting!) i know there's been a few comments on here about service but honestly we just sat back, relaxed and enjoyed the view and atmosphere.

i'm in heaven. finally, a killer place by the river. a group of us went in last night after work, ordered pimms jugs, beers, pizzas and quesadillas. the food was great, hot and tasty and pimms jug the bomb. i'll be back after work tonight.

had dinner at riverbar last night. i work on queen st so came earlier on in the night with some work friends. we had a lovely evening!
started with a lovely cocktail...geisha something it had lychees and rose petal was gorgeous.
we ordered the pork buns, some squid, a margarita pizza and the snapper. everything was beautiful, light and fresh. first time at a moran place and he lives up to his name!
food took a little while but it was very busy and the staff told us before we ordered and we were happy to wait! the girl who served at the bar was lovely and very helpful with the menu top.

can't wait to go back again! hopefully on the weekend

fast food and a great time. came to grab some supper and a place to just chill. felt so welcome and loved the decor. ordering was easy at the bar. the waitress who took our order was friendly and so patient with our questions and constant changing of mind. we had the bucket of fried chicken, seared kingfish (deserves a special mention on its own), lamb quesadillas and snow crab sliders. and talk about quick service. we waited at the bar after placing the order as our bartender/waitress said she'd make the drinks on the spot. took a look around the inside of the place with all the boating decorations and by then the drinks we're ready. chose a table of our own by the river to sit and presto, food was served. total time from ordering food to it arriving was 8 minutes. wasn't timing it but just happened to have the receipt in hand and just had to check the time as i couldn't believe the food came so fast. everyone around was having a good time and so were we. all in all, just a great place to unwind after a long day and have a good time with friends and such a great view doesn't hurt as well.

terrible night. tried to order a burger and wedges but both menu items were 'unavailable' so we shared the lamb. bland, over cooked and completely random paired with a tomato salsa. my grandma could cook a better clapped out lamb. take the 'kitchen' out of river bar and kitchen and the place would be alright. extremely disappointed. bar staff were hopeless too, and our waitress was a sweaty pig.

disappointed. just had lunch at riverbar and kitchen and was very disappointed. food was nice but service was abyssmal and we waited for over an hour after placing our order for any food to come. carl (a chinese gent) was really looking forward to some woodfired prawns but to his surprise received 5 raw prawns in a bucket! he will not deviate from yum cha in the future

disastrous night!. was very excited to check out riverbar as i work and live so close. last nihgt our "bucket of prawns" came with heads and digestive tracts intact. yuk! this was after we specifically asked on ordering how they were served and were told "tails only". after kitchen staff removed the heads for us, they brought the bucket back compete with prawns covered in head goo and digestive tracts still in place! this from matt moran? it was hard to believe, especially as we saw him wandering around the place.

on top of all that, staff messed up no less than 3 drinks orders even after we repeated the order back to them twice each time to ensure they was correct. what is going on? we were compensated with a free pizza and jug but by then we were starving, exhausted and very baffled as to how they could consistently get it so wrong. night kinda ruined. as i spent so long at the bar trying to sort out the debacles.
