emporium - fortitude valley
i stayed at the emporium hotel and took a few steps outside and landed at a table at the gorgeoustartufonext door. we had a terrific dinner indulging in traditional italian with great wine, fresh pasta (rigatoni and linguine), salad (caprese) and then italian-inspired rolled roasted pork, truffled polenta and hot mustard fruits and the salmon with lemon butter and capers (yum). it is a great italian menu and the wait staff are friendly and chatty (which is always nice when you are holidaying). i definitely plan to go back and highly recommend if you are in the emporium complex in fortitude valley.

ristorantetartufois without a doubt the best italian in brisbane! it is the perfect blend of authentic home cooked italian food with a modern twist! the service is outstanding and the owners often come out to greet their customers- just like they do in italy! :) i honestly cannot fault this place. from the food, to the service, to the overall vibe - this restaurant has always been consistently excellent. thank you to the owners and the team at tartufo...we can’t wait to dine here again! :)

***review no. 500***

i took my team to ristorantetartufoto celebrate a successful end to the financial year and to mark my 500th zomato review.

i was looking forward to revisiting this highly rated italian restaurant and was prepared to splash out for a high-end experience. unfortunately, the food was a bit of a let down.

we began our meal with a bottle of sparkling wine (cloudy bay pelorus) and orders of bruschetta, arancini balls, calamari fritti and burrata.

the bruschetta was tasty, but the bread was a bit too dry and rated 3.5. the arancini balls were also a bit dry and crumbled a bit too much when cutting into it. the flavor was good and this rated a 3. it was a generous serving of calamari fritti, but they were average and rated a 3. the burrata was a little tough on the outside and not nearly as creamy as i am used to on the inside. this too rated a 3. we were off to a very average start - not what we were expecting.

for mains we ordered the duck confit risotto special, the rigatoni saliscce and the porchetta (pork belly) to go along with a terre al lago pinot.

the duck confit risotto had good, but slightly overpowering, flavors. the beans, greens, arborio rice, cheese and duck came together nicely, but the texture was a bit inconsistent. the duck was nice and tender, but the dish as a whole rated 3-3.5.

the rigatoni saliscce combined italian pork sausage, fried eggplant, smoked mozzarella, tomato, basil and parmesan with tender rigatoni. this was the only dish that really met expectations and rated a 4.

the porchetta received mixed reviews. i found the meat itself to be a bit dry, while the crackling was a bit too soft. the dish as a whole just wasn't as tender as i have come to expect from nice restaurants. the dish did have good flavour and rated 3.5-4. my colleague rated it a 4 and felt that the only thing keeping it from being 4.5-5 was the crackling wasn't crispy enough.

good service and the food came out very quickly, but overall, the restaurant rated 3.5 when we were expecting 4-5 for the $60-$70 per person.

in my opinion there are far better italian restaurants in brisbane at better prices.

hi, my family and i dined attartufotonight
(monday 3 april) we found the pizza to be akin to eating processed cardboard.

i travel extensively oversees every year and eat pizza in many different counties, i found the pizzas attartufolousy.

i will never take my family there again.

wow, what a great experience we had. after our initial dinner plans fell through, we found ourselves attartufoon a saturday night without a booking and feeling slightly under dressed. nevertheless, and despite being quite busy they offered us seating at the bar, as the rest of the restaurant was full. the service was exceptional, the gentleman behind the bar was happy to talk us through the menu and even suggested what wine would compliment our meals. we had thetartufopizza and a seafood/chilli pasta and both of them were to die for. fresh, light and flavorsome. the atmosphere was completely unpretentious, relaxing and sophisticated. we will definitely be back!

in short: best italian restaurant i have eaten during my time here in queensland.

service here was impeccable. the servers were polite and always on top of service. they seem to always know what we want before we even ask for it.

food was excellent. we ordered thetartufopizza and the truffle tip was definitely something different. mains we ordered were mushroom linguine, crab risotto with peas and rack of lamb and everything was so flavourful. the standout dish for me was the risotto, who knew peas and risotto went so well together.

recommend the smooth panna cotta as dessert as well.

on arrival attartufowe were greeted and taken to a table straight away.
water was brought immediately with the menus.
we ordered chilli olives to start while we perused the menu.
they were delicious.
starters were a beautifully presented salmon gravlax with beetroot and orange as well as a caprese salad with plump buratta and sticky balsamic.
we asked the owner, tony for his recommendations for mains-swordfish was one of the best seafood meals i have eaten. cooked to perfection and complimented by sweet lemon butter greens. the other main was spatchcock served with greens also as my dining companion didn't want any potato- the kitchen happily accommodated this request.
desserts were amazing- a warm pear tart with macadamia ice cream and an espresso chocolate fondant with vanilla bean ice cream and chocolate shavings.
presentation of each dish was superb and service was perfect.
the proseco we drank with our meals was a great addition to the food.
highly recommend this restaurant for a beautiful night out.

amazingly good pizza. definetly one of /if not the best authentic pizza places in brisbane for you to eat. the signaturetartufopizza with the truffle paste embedded in the star shaped pizza crust is awesome. the seeded olives and anchovies make the pizza a strong one but equally delicious for my palate. the restaurant has breathtakingly massive selection of drinkies to choose from. also love the interior decor. this place is straight out of the streets of paris/milan. keep it up guys.

came here again and had the seafood degustation. it was very good, not amazing. it was very good value though.
i was very unwell the next day with a stomach bug, my dining partner was fine.... go figure. i was very unwell after the previous time attartufotoo.... but my whole dining party was fine... perhaps my tummy does not agree with tartufo.

we came here to share a banquet meal with lots of friends. the creamy mushroom pasta is mind blowingly good! the profiteroles were pretty crap. everything else was very good or amazingly good. (4/5)

an amazing experience, shared the calamari, meatballs, and arancini for starters, all were excellent but especially the arancini. for main i had the pizzatartufowhich surely ranks up there with brisbane's best, the truffles in the base were perfect. highly recommend.

have been wanting to trytartufoout for some time now and finally made it for an anniversary dinner.

the night wasn't starting well, as it's near impossible to find a car park at the emporium. took us about 15 minutes and multiple trips around the car park... when we finally arrived, and we're seated, we didn't get served for about 10 minutes (it was quite busy).

but after that it was smooth sailing! we went with the seafood degustation for $75 per person. food came out quickly, and all of it was fantastic. highlights were definitely the entree of trout and scallop, and the main of salmon! one of the best salmon dishes i've ever had. the dessert of panna cotta was also amazing.

5 of us went to dinner attartufotonight, after reading they were in the top 10 restaurants we were keen to try their food. we decided to sample the pescatarian and mixed degustation, unfortunately both were a disappointment. we waited at least 20 mins between each course, 6 courses all up so it was a long dinner, we were so hungry waiting that were ordered a pizza to share.
there was no balance in the dishes, they were either sweet, salty or sour. we were looking forward to the risotto as we are all risotto fiends but even that was a let down. it was fatty without any balance, pea and sweet corn without any acidity, the scallops were great and wonderfully cooked, at least the parmesan was good because that's all you could taste. the salmon, which looked anaemic, was over cooked and dry, the pork was also over cooked and tough. these were the mains for the degustation after extremely small servings for the dishes leading up to them.
we opted for the chocolate dessert, which again had no balance. our waiter told us after we had finished that espresso was one of the ingredients, if he had not told us we would have never known.

matteo was our waiter tonight, he was amazing. great service, funny, charming and he was clearly aware of our disappointment and did everything a waiter could have to please us. absolutely no complaints there, he was probably the only reason we didn't leave.
the restaurant manager didn't approach our table even though he was made aware of our dissatisfaction, correct me if i'm wrong but this is part of his job?
and finally! the chef! maybe he should have spent more time in the kitchen, he was on the floor as much as the waiters! could this be why we're waiting so long?
tartufo, you have beautiful restaurant with such class and matteo is clearly an asset to your team, maybe you should focus on getting your chef up to scratch (or get your old one back)
thanks for an unforgettable experience.
