themenuhas new orleans influences, which is more or less the best you can hope for in vancouver unless you go to one of the few dedicated places like ouisi bistro . the mix of new orleans, new mexico, and less adventurous-sounding things like burgers. vegans look like they may be out of luck, though. sinister chili fried shrimp with honey lime dip ($10) strangely bland, so our experience may have been a fluke kitchen error. for some reason the five "shrimps" (which were fat enough to be proud prawns) had nice crunch and firmness but not a lot of prawny flavour. honey lime dip was also rather tame. otherwise a decently done tempura. be sure to use some of the sriracha (?) chili sauce drizzled on the plate. duck, pear & brie quesadilla with red onion compote ($11) a bit weak on the duck flavour, but otherwise as

great place!. i've been to the revel room on more than one occasion with groups large & small. each & every time the food has been good, the service good and the ambiance is great. consistency is the key to a great restaurant and these guys have it in spades. also sunday to thursday they have live music that is reflective of the menu. themenuis southern/cajun style with lots of yummy dishes. the drinksmenuis in keeping with the foodmenu(yep, they have mint juleps!). it's not just a restaurant, it's an experience!

good times, but need to update the online menu. had a group booking for my birthday the other night. overall was pleased with my meal and drinks, but was a little disappointed to see that they had not updated theirmenuonline, because many of my guests were let down after being told many of their orders couldn't be accommodated because they were either not on themenuanymore or sold out. we manged to find other items and overall the food was good.

the chicken bites were really good, mac and cheese i think could benefit from a more flavorful cheese as it was too bland, other than the ham which was only on the top of the dish. snapper was delicious.

overall i liked the location, but it felt a little cramped upstairs with two other large groups packed in side by side, we could barely get out of our seats at times, which was a bit of a challenge when trying to visit with some of the people on the other end of the table, and couldn't really hear each other if you were more than a seat down. service was also a little slow at times, just due to how packed it was.

i would like to give it another go, but maybe with a smaller group.

old almost dive like interior, there is some cool balcony seating up top and a small bar downstairs. they were playing some super old cartoons with a projector on one of the walls, that was kindnof neat. beer prices are decent, themenuhas some very tasty almost american and american fusion type food. the after 9menuis pretty cool, we had the fried chicken bites that came with some sort of aioli, the chicken was great but the dip was super runny, is it suppose to be like that? the sausage with the mustard is good too.

some many choices - don't choose this one. i was at revel room last night and was overall very disappointed in my experience. first, the atmosphere of the bar is not unique from the dozens of other similar establishments within walking distance and around the city. because the restaurant's ambience does not stand out, other aspects stand out as poorly done. i ordered a cocktail from amenuthat still has christmas and winter holiday themed drinks (it was just april fool's day, not new years day). i ordered a sazerac, which seemed to be served in a candleholder. the drink had a nice aroma but its taste was too absinthe-heavy. the worst part of the revel room experience was the food. i ordered the empanadas and salad. the empanadas tasted like something you would get out of the frozen food section of safeway. the pastry was not fresh and seemed to be manufactured, not hand made. the filling tasted like bland, sweet potato and had the same texture as baby food. i was starving when i arrived and was only able to finish half of one empanada. the salad was limp and flavourless. the tortilla strips on the salad did not make up for the lack of freshness in the lettuce. my friends ordered taquitos, which had the same dry, frozen-food taste and feel. after our disappointing meals arrived and we had a couple of bites, we couldn't wait to leave. small positives from the night included a pleasant, but not all that bright (she served meals to completely wrong tables), server and the tacos weren't bad. since there is so much variety in this city for small pubs/tapas bars/gastro pubs, there is absolutely no reason to go to revel room. at least there is a chance at a decent meal and better atmosphere elsewhere.

not what you pay for. i was really excited to try the revel room as i've been desperately missing a little southern food in my diet since my recent visit to portland. when my husband shot me themenuas an option for our date night, i was practically out the door with my coat before i replied. finally, something with a southern flare!

when we arrived i was immediately surprised by how dead they were - it was prime dinner time, yet we were the only ones in there. that sort of thing usually rings warning bells for me, but we decided not to worry about it.

i opened themenuand was disappointed to see it wasn't the same as what was listed on their website - i had been looking forward to getting some chicken and collard greens but instead they had changed to green beans for the side. "oh well" i thought - i was sad not to get my fave southern side, but could accept that it was different.

well, my dinner arrived and instead of the green beans my side was sauteed mushrooms! i think the thing that bothered me the most about it was the lack of communication the server had with me about the substitution - she never came to check if it was an ok change to make while it was being prepared and likewise never mentioned it when she popped it down in front of me. if it's not what's on your menu, you should communicate with your customers as to the change!

aside from the 'not ordered' mushrooms, the meal was ok but not great. my chicken was a little dry and my macaroni and cheese was acceptable. for $20 i would have expected a little more flavor from it.

all in all i think i might be back for drinks at some point in the future, but as far as going out for a nice dinner i think i'll give it a pass.

quick bite. i've been to the revel room twice now, once for a late night snack, themenuis quite limited but so tasty, we had an amazing pull porked sandwhich and they're braised short ribs, perfect serving for a late night snack. very nice ambiance, with their little loft with a few more tables. also went for a quick bite before a show and same great service, quick and tasty food. i've heard they also service warm cookies and milk before their late nightmenustarts? definitely looking forward to trying this...enjoy!
