conceptual failure in every way. all open-air, which works only in spring and fall, unless you don't mind freezing or roasting. this restaurant uses all plastic disposable plates, cups, and forks, so our first shock was the idea that in 2014 a restaurant could be so blatantly irresponsible. add to that the mediocre food and server who was sweet, but none too clever, and it makes for solid rating of 2. passable when you just can't get in anywhere better. also, its a kid-oriented restaurant that doesn't serve dessert?

terrible service!!. i have been to this restaurant on several occasions and tonight was by far the worst experience i've had yet. we waited over an hour for our food, had to remind the waitress twice to bring us our appetizer and had my son in tears because she forgot his drink after asking several times. since it is the off season, there was only about 8-10 families eating at the resturant. there was a family who sat after us and left before we even received our food. unacceptable in my opinion and will not return!!!

despite the bad reviews, we chanced a visit and were delightfully surprised. the food was very good for the price and the atmosphere was terrific. definitely a step up from the typical tacky "sea-food shacks" near by. the yum shrimp was great!

great waitstaff! friendly but not overbearing. the french fries are perfect, crispy yet not over done. had the banging shrimp tacos - delicious. the kids enjoyed the giant connect four game and bean bag toss while we say outside under the lights and ate.great for older kids who might not appreciate a playground. we'll be back!

bad night. my husband and i ate there on a recent trip to pensacola beach. the waiter was new and had not been properly trained so made several mistakes, such as he didn't know if the restaurant had a house cabernet. the food is very ordinary, i ordered spicy fish tacos which were not spicy (i had to add hot sauce for flavor), my husband had the oyster/shrimp combo basket, absolutely lack of taste and creativity. we will not be back

dissappointment. a couple of my friends recommended that we take our out of town guests here when i asked them for a good recommendation for seafood. the atmosphere and service was really good but i was a little embarrassed to see the looks on our guests faces when our appetizers came out. we had an order of calamari and buffalo gulf shrimp. both appetizers came out on these skimpy little paper plates and the portion size was just enough for one person. it made for an awkward moment when we were trying to portion the food out so that everyone could get a bite. we had 4 adults, 1 child and 1 baby. nobody said anything but we were all thinking the same thinng...skimpy! the meals weren't any better. one of our guest ordered the grouper special and included the gulf shrimp and louisiana fried oysters. it was a skimpy piece of fish that was perfectly square. living on the gulf coast for more than 30 years and the only perfectly square piece of fish that i've ever seen was the frozen stuff that you get from the grocery. i ordered the mullet basket figuring that the dish should be plentiful since there are plenty of mullet jumping in the water behind me. instead i got two skimpy pieces of fried mullet and a basket full of soggy cold fries. it's just another tourist trap restaurant on the gulf coast. as a local, i probably won't go back for the food but would go chill out and have a drink by the fire pit on the bay but i dont need to go there to do that.

not an attack. the service was exceptional. the a food was really really really bad. get your kitchen staff together. i dont dine out that often. but when i do i expect it be better than that. very dissatisfied. you guys have not been open very long. and you won't last another year if you keep serving bad food.

first time visit... was at red fish blue fish last weekend and was impressed. was a very relaxed atmosphere that makes you feel at home with friends. we were with a group of 20-25 people and we very well taken care of by staff. the food was outstanding..i had the fish tacos with asian slaw with chips and salsa on the side. the fish had a great crisp clean taste to it and the salsa, which had pineapple in it was to die for. my husband had the fried mullet dinner and he raved for days with how good it was. this was the first of what we plan to be many visits to red fish blue fish.

awesome atmosphere, very average food. hard to find a better outdoor setting than at rfbf. the menu is limited, which would be fine if the options were well prepared. my wife had a burger ordered medium that was cooked to a crisp. my fish tacos were bland. recos on the fish tacos: use smaller tortillas, pack them with fresh and colorful ingredients, do not put a melted cheese suit on the fish.

2.5 out of 5 stars, best: seafood cooked perfectly, clean and trendy outside seating area, worst: service. heavily staffed, but weren't greet at the hostess stand, no one else was waiting, we were then left standing while the 2 staff had a lengthy and casual conversation about seating. shown to our table and before we could even sit down she said "i think this table is already sat." and took us to another table, handed us menus and said it was the *first day of a new menu. we took our time reading the menu and had made our entire selection, chatted, observed the layout and still no server. i had to get up to get one. she asked for our drink order, but we gave her our drink orders and i continued with our app and dinner orders as we had waited so long. server was stumbling to catch up, but did, wrote it down. order came out wrong. we both confirmed we had clearly stated the order, replaced without too much trouble.
calamari was very large rings, onion-ring sized, but perfectly cooked as were a grilled and fried shrimp and fried oyster dinner. sauce was limited to one; sundried pesto cream, which was good, but it would have been nice to have more options. there was no cocktail sauce, only a "yum" sauce which is probably catalina dressing, mayo and some spice flecks, it is good, but a little too sweet. the new menu may have been the culprit, but no apologies were offered and we didn't point out that the "wilted spinach salad and sticky rice" were neither wilted nor sticky, but plain, baby spinach laid under 2 larger scoops of mushy, cold rice. a small drizzle of the cream sauce was on one of the balls of rice. the 1/2 & 1/2 basket was 3 oysters and 3 shrimp and about 6 lbs of french fries which were either perfect or cold, indicating they had mixed a previous basket and not kept at temp. a request for cocktail sauce was denied, and further yum sauce was brought out.
the sun dropped, we moved to the fire pit because our server was, again, nowhere to be seen, and when she found us we asked her to split the tab down the middle. it took her 2 tries, but she did it. i admit that was a bit of a push, i truly was seeing if they had that capability, but when we signed the checks, she never returned to pick them up. we literally stayed at the fire pit, met 2 other groups of guests, chatted about the area, gave them tips for other restaurants to try and the server never picked up our check. we handed it to the hostess as we left, along with a comment card.
i would go back one more time, but if it is the same next week, i'll mark it down as a tourist one-off spot because it does have a great outdoor seating, slightly better than/trendier/newer than flounders and not for a regular dining experience. **second visit, service was good! food was still perfectly cooked.**
*disclaimer: i have worked front and back of house, i know a new, or expanded menu, can lead to some mistakes, but how they are handled is the true measure of a restaurant.

could be better. they need to revamp the menu to serve more inventive dishes with fish. the service & atmosphere is spot on, wish the food was. we had hopes of a greater variety of fish dishes & them also being unique to florida. i also questioned why our app & dinner turn around time was crazy quick- also other tables by us. i imagine nothing is fresh & must be premade. the quality of food, drinks as well, should match the ambiance & service they do have.

food was terrible. three of us went to dinner. two po-boys ordered, asian cold noodle salad and carne fries. the carne tasted rotten. the salad was gross, weird taste. how does one ruin a salad? the po-boys were huge stale buns with mediocre meat (one was salty the other cold bland shrimp). the server did not say a thing about the fact that we only ate our fries!!! oh, i forgot to mention the cocktails are a total ripoff. save your money!!

average at best. my husband and i went here for our five year anniversary because of recommendations from several people. the view was incredible, but the food and service was not. it took almost fifteen minutes before jake (our server) came to take our drink order. he wasn't very friendly, didn't smile at us, or thank us for coming. it was almost like he hated his job.
my husband ordered the fish and chips and i ordered the bayou po boy. it took forever to get our dinner and by the time it got to us it was cold. also, the po boy was super spicy (too spicy for me to eat even half of it) and the filling covered all the bread, which made it soggy. the calamari was decent, but that too took forever to arrive at our table.
we would have left, but we wanted to give this place a chance. all in all, this was a terrible way to spend our anniversary. staying at home and ordering pizza would have been better.

horrible!!!. complete waste of time and money! my wife got the shrimp and sausage creole and it was so spicy you couldn't eat it, plus the shrimp was really bland. i ordered the grilled chicken and brussles burger and it was like biting into a brick! our waitress would only recommend the $18 plate and nothing else. i would not recommend anyone waste their time or hard earned money on this s*** hole!!
