great lunch and view!. my wife and i went for lunch last saturday and had i great meal! we had been putting off going for several months due to some of the poor reviews i have read and how confusing the service/ordering was, and we were pleasantly surprised that we were immediately approached by a greeter and then by a server who sat us at our table and gave us menus to order from. i have to admit that i was a bit confused and our super nice server told us that they have changed to a traditional restaurant now since no one seemed to understand the restaurant's concept before.
we were sat "inside" near the edge of the deck, and the view is possibly the best on thebeachwith a huge 270 degree view of the bay, and the outside seating is set up like outdoor living rooms with games like corn hole that you can play. the atmosphere is very relaxed and makes you comfortable right away. it would be a great place to bring children so they could just run around in the grass or even down to the water's edge (yes they have abeachtoo).
for the food...we started with seafood gumbo and liked it very much, it could beat my favorite things gumbo, plus it was a huge portion. for my entree i had the shrimp po-boy and it was full of large shrimp, in fact so many that i had a hard time getting my sandwich to close. it had lots of pickles (they really make a po-boy), very fresh tomatoes and lettuce as well. this is a great po-boy! i did try my wife’s fish tacos, and even though i really do not like sweet on my meats, the mango salsa really worked somehow on these tacos, so we covered them in it (we asked for it to come on the side) and ate every one of them.
this is a great family style restaurant with a new concept for pensacola, you really should try it. i had little hope that i was going to like the food, but loved it! we liked it so much we are going back for their special valentine's day dinner in several days. this could be our newbeachhangout.

finally!. opening at 11am monday! walked around the outside last weekend after taste of thebeachand it looked like a solid concept. there is a large outside patio/bar area that looks out over the sound, with lots of ceiling fans to keep diners cool. i am not sure if there is any air conditioned space or not. interestingly there is a lot of furniture in the back of the restaurant, on a grassy lawn that too looks over the sound and is arranged into little cozy groups, like little outside living rooms. i have looked everywhere for a menu and nothing yet, other than a picture of a wall menu from inside the store that i can not read. will try to post anyways. i am excited to try them and will update my post when i have.
