we really saved the best for last when it came to the food. both my husband and i had the swordfish. yum!!! the "premium" option was sheepshead, but i love swordfish. the atmosphere and location are great. the restaurant is open to the intercostal, it can get chilly at night (april). not as "touristy" as other places, but a good hang-out for families. even older kids/teens were enjoying the many outdoor games and fire pits. dog friendly outdoor seating. wish the surrounding green space/beaches were kept cleaner. the wind carries trash and it accumulated in the nearby dunes. the bathrooms are located in a strange place. you feel like you are going into a service area, it's also "open access" to the outside of the restaurant, at least it seemed to be. overall it's what i look for in a good seafood place. would definitely do this again.

dayna our waitress was fantastic, she knew how to get info. on the drink i asked about.  then fixed my mother's bloody mary that was a little spicy for her liking.  dad enjoyed a couple of blue fins.  we left our table for the lounging chairs and fire-pit, wait staff was very accommodating.  after all it is about team-work.  it's not often everything works out just right, but in the case of a waitress, on her third day "wow." efficiency is the word that comes to mind, and helpfulness.  it shows how much she genuinely cares about her guests.

recently ate here. it's a laid back casual restaurant but the food was better than i expected. the shrimp yum plate was really good. they have a unique sauce that set the dish apart. our waiter was fantastic. looks like a really cool place to go at night. we did lunch there.

amazing atmosphere and pleasant service. a bit pricey, but overall, we thoroughly enjoyed this seafood cuisine.

for our appetizer, we ordered the nola fries (hand-cut fries topped with shrimp, andouille sausage, fresh peppers, sauteed onions, cajun spiced tomato sauce, parmesan cheese, and fresh-cut green onions) - an interesting take on a traditional dish; great for sharing.

for our entrees, we ordered the classic caesar salad (romaine tossed with croutons, parmesan cheese and caesar dressing, with blackened gulf shrimp) and the lemon wedge salad (wedge of crispy iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, apple-wood bacon, blended jack and cheddar cheeses, with house-made lemon vinaigrette and grilled gulf shrimp) - fresh greens and shrimp!

without a doubt probably the best place to go if you just want to hang out and grab some drinks. their food is getting better and they just opened an oyster bar. this is the place to go when the beach quiets down from summer. very very nice atmosphere.

average food but service was good. loved the atmosphere and outdoor seating. live band was entertaining. not a fan of their yum sauce. fish tasted fresh but bland especially since i ordered it blackened. fries were edible and my husband's burger was pretty good. he opted for the bacon and egg on top of his burger and it really didn't make a noticeable difference in terms of flavor. there was a slight rancid smell from the egg yolk though. an hour later back at the hotel, my stomach felt like it was attacked. just to be safe, avoid the "over easy" egg...

not overly impressed. food was decent, but as it was outside seating, everything was dusty. service was frequent, but unprofessional. would be a good place to meet up with friends for drinks and grub, but not for family. sorry, but other places were better.

atmosphere is perfect for a beach time lunch/dinner, service is average and food is average. one if the best spots to eat when out at the beach.

awesome. i read the reviews and i am not happy about what people write. i had the best experience ever. the bartender jeremy was great. as far as the food hands down the top 5 best i have ever had. people that write these reviews are talking about bad experiences and the people that have good ones don't write enough. i reccomend this place to everyone. its amazing. management should look at all reviews good or bad and get the consensus on things don't let the few bad times affect the great time most others have. thanks and have a great day.

total lack of concern - bad customer service. in leaving the restaurant with my wheelchair bound mother, i inadvertenly left my purse on my chair. i realized it and went right back. no one had seen it and no one was interested or helpful. having an allergic reaction i went home to bed. in the morning, i located my phone through "find my phone" app - it was still in the restaurant. i called again and the manager could not find it even when i sounded the alarm. so i went back with my laptop to try to locate it, myself. when i got there i went in to use their wifi and was told by the hostesses that they found it at their station because of the alarm which they thought was a computer issue. which they found quite funny.
glad to have my purse back but annoyed that 50.00 was missing and a very well hidden 100.00 also missing. everything else was there. the thing that bothered me was the total lack of concern. i had left my email with the original inquiry but information was not shared with the next day staff. bad customer service and very bad lost and found policies. the food was also mediocre and over-priced for what it was.

much improved - lovely atmosphere, good eats, great service. an update - decided to try again since it had been several months, they had recently undergone renovations, and we had a coupon. they hit the mark this time. the menu has been revamped, with more offerings. we sat in the deck chairs facing the water on an unusually warm day for january. erin, our server, greeted us immediately and provided exceptional customer service. her recommendations were spot on. the $3 strawberry margaritas were an excellent deal. the spicy fish tacos, smoky texan tacos, and bangin' shrimp appetizer were well portioned and flavorful. hope this trend continues, we will be back!

not a fan. the view and atmosphere are really nice and tranquil. that's the best i can say about purple fish. have been here several times, and find the service lackluster, food choices limited and quality just ok. want to like it but they have been open almost a year and still haven't gotten it together.

food was better than expected considering the subpar service we started with. plenty of room to improve drinks though. same goes for service!

you are clearly paying for the atmosphere at rfbf. food is a step above carnival food in my opinion...good but cheap. however, no cheap prices to be found here. we love the restaurant though! especially on a cool day, i could sit here forever. i dont mind paying the prices every once in a while just to enjoy the atmosphere

great potential. the setting and the setup of this place is awesome. great view, and i love the outdoor seating. the kid-friendly activities were a nice touch. we had to wait a long time until the host/manager saw what was happening and came back to us to take our drink orders, and then another long wait for a server to appear. not sure if they were short-staffed or what, they didn't say. the food was pretty good (we both had fish tacos), not outstanding, and not large portions, but you're definitely paying beach prices here. some puzzling things like no salsa or other dip for the chips that come with the tacos, and there were inexplicable mistakes with our bill, they kept coming back with different totals, but couldn't tell us why. not deal-breakers, just odd. cool gift shop and clean bathrooms. we'd go back again, but they definitely could stand to tighten up some things. again, love the setting overlooking santa rosa sound.
