pumpkin tales

not your usual cafe which serves the usual finger food and american. pumpkintalesserves singaporean, thai and continental food. i tried their chicken rice bowl and burmese shan noodles for lunch. both the dishes amazed me. the portion size was very well good enough for one. if you are an average eater, the portion size can fit two. talking about the chicken rice bowl, they serve jasmine rice along with eggs, cucumbers, tomatoes and grillen chicken thigh. siracha sauce is also provided to add more spice and flavor to your dish. absolutely loved this one. the jasmine rice had it’s own flavour which very well adds essence to the dish. moving on to the burmese shan noodles, it was served with tomato chilli sauce, fermented soy, fried peanuts, celery, fried onions, and chicken tenders. this mixed well together tasted absolutely delicious. it was really crunchy and the rice noodle was really good and soupy. the portion was big for me to finish it. talking about the dessert i tried here, the manager suggested to try their coffee walnut cake. something new which i haven’t come across, i tried it out. it was crumbly topped with walnuts and the kick of coffee in it. loved it. this place is amazing to try out new food. i felt all the dishes were a bit pricey. but definitely worth a try! the taste and quality definitely makes up for the price.

this is a late review as i had been to pumpkintalesover two months ago. once for breakfast and once for lunch.
the breakfast was a quick affair as i just needed a place to sit and work, but they did serve a wonderful mexican bowl and hot chocolate.
the first time i had been here however was because my friend and i were craving for pumpkin soup and we placed our bets on the restaurant which had the name of the vegetable!
we were not disappointed. we did not eat anything else that lunch, just two big bowls of pumpkin soup and two contented tummies behind it.

the only reason i gave 3 stars is because pumpkintalesfeels they have to add chilli flakes to everything. the pizza which was lovely was totally spoilt for me because all i could taste was strong chilli flakes. don't you think the customer should decide if they want chilli flakes. please send separately if you must.

after spending 2 hours at the livspace store, decided to have dinner at nearby restaurant and went for pumpkintaleslooking at zomato reviews. this restaurant has an american vibe to it and serve only continental. ordered veg sausage, roasted veg bread which is actually pizza as we would call it , two drinks and veg rice bowls. this restaurant makes sense if you are in us and need to eat something close to indian food. being in india and having to spend 1800/2 on a a casual dinner at a continental restaurant is not appealing. the roasted veg was a regular thin crust pizza you get at regular pizza chain. veg sausage was so so. hot chocolate was good.

we went to pumpkintalesreading the raving reviews only to get disappointed. we went around 5:30 pm, extremely hungry and excited, were handed menu, which normally indicates that the food was available unless mentioned specifically by the staff. but when we were to place order, she said that majority of dinner options are not available until 6 pm. i do not understand this policy nor the fact that the staff don't even inform the customer beforehand. without any options, we were too hungry so decided to get a grilled chicken sandwich and order mains later. what we got was a burger (we checked with staff and apparently sandwiches come in burger bun) with lots of lettuce and cooked max chicken, which cost a whooping 350+. if it at least tasted good, i would have been satisfied but this felt like a ripoff. guess i'll just take my business else where at least customer is informed properly.

pumpkintales--> have heard lots oftales😜 about this place and was in my wishlist for the longest time. went here finally for dinner. we were four people and i would say i had very high expectations of this restaurant which i would say was met suitably.

overall the dining experience was great, the environment is comfortable and pleasant ambience. food was tasty as ❤ mentioned above. we felt the prices are on the higher-end for the portions served. had the price to quantity ratio been better, it would definitely be a bang for the buck. else there is no downside to the quality and taste in the food.

the review is completely based on my taste buds and my love for food. (no influence)..

this is definitely one of my most favourite places to eat in chennai. the food is of great quality, the staff are extremely courteous and they serve a variety of food you may otherwise not find elsewhere easily. their pumpkin soup and mamak mee goreng are the best. pumpkintalesis a great find. thanks for the lovely experience. can’t wait to return for some more!

dunno why restaurant's offer wet soupy messes as 'appetizers' this not the first time pumpkintaleshas disappointed me tastewise!

pumpkintalesis hands down one of the best restaurants in the city! there’s something about the receipes, the quality of ingredients used or just the smiling service that completely changes the ball game for dishes that’s served!

i absolutely love their breakfast menu, and their eggs benedict and kaya toast has very special place in my heart! every bite is a flavour bomb and truly shoots waves of happy hormones down the entire body!

you’ve to experience it to know i’m not kidding. food coma guaranteed.

also, i love the fact that their menu has ample veg and non veg options - ensuring there’s something for everyone!

while the food pricing may seem to be a little on the expensive side, trust me when i say it’s value for money. the quality of ingredients, the portion size and the flavour bombs ensures you leave with a happy tummy and a happy soul!

tucked inside a small street in alwarpet, pumpkintalesis a cozy restaurant with good food and great ambience.
ordered a sweet potato corn patties,a mocktail and grilled chicken pizza.the food is great except the pizza is too buttery for our palates.
the place follows all covid precautions and price is pretty decent.

pumpkintalesis easily the best in madras....the food was so great that we went there twice in one week....such balanced portions....not a single dish tasted bad or even average at that....every single dish was mouthwatering....my compliments to the owner and the chef....i want more people to visit the place....2 thumbs up!! 👍🏻👍🏻

pumpkintaleshas always been a family favourite. their pumpkin soup is out of the world and so was their rainbow pasta. however my most recent experience was not as good as the rest.

usp: they keep switching up their menus as per the seasonal ingredients which makes each visiting exciting.

•we ordered sesame chicken bits as an appetizer and it was absolutely delicious! balanced yet zingy, it was a burst of flavour with a concentrated sauce that made you go back for more.

for main course, we ordered their mee goreng and chicken steak.

•as for the mee goreng, the balance was off. it was very ketchup-y and could only taste a hint of the kecap manis. as a result it didn't achieve the sweet and savoury balance. there were also a lot of tomatoes taking away from that glazy sticky texture that one expects of a mee goreng

• the chicken steak comes with a side of cauliflower rice and mushroom sauce. the chicken itself was beautiful however the mushroom sauce was the exact opposite. a sauce such as this must be rich in flavour and velvety from all that cooking down. however the on we received was mostly thickened from an excess addition of starch and lacked depth. it felt like a sauce made out of cubes and that was a slight disappointment.


overall, out of my four visits this is the only time when pumpkintaleshad let me down. however this was my first visit after almost a year and a half.  i felt like the prices were too high for what i received. it was an above average experience but not satisfactory as per usual/before. hope they can improve!

i visited pumpkintalesafter a long time keeping this restaurant in my bookmark. staff and service is the one i should give 5 star. the food is good but not great for me. i felt this even i have ordered their top-selling bibimbap and umami. it's ok....
i should try this joint once for breakfast...

i should suggest zomato to increase the price for two. since it easily costore than 1100 or 1200 for two.
i spend about 1900 including tax for 2 main course, 1 starter, 1 coffee and a smoothie.....

our experience at pumpkintaleswas decent enough. we ordered the chicken laksa, the shakshouka and the pawn bibimbap. the shakshouka was my personal favourite. the eggs were cooked really well. there was mozzarella cheese on top. it had a lovely cumin flavour and was served with crusty bread . the laksa was also good. the broth was very hearty and warming and i loved the noodles in it. my least favourite was the prawn bibimbap. i found it to be too bland and not pleasant to eat. the service was really good. the waitress was kind enough to change the order to accommodate our food allergies. overall it was a decent experience.

we have few places that you never get bored, pumpkintalesis one such place for my tummy 😀 our recent visit was to try out sichuan stories. each dish put across was authentic in taste, desserts were different. we are glad that authentic cuisine is available near us. oh i must say for vegas n vegetarian plenty of options.
