beautiful place and atmosphere sadly the food was not so great. the food may have been not to our liking but 4 out of 4 were disappointed. we had the tour menu and found the popcorn tasted like something you can buy off the shelf in a supermarket, the salmon tartlet was way too fishy, the arenchini was okay (i wasn’t a fan of the spices) the pork belly sandwich was probably my favorite out of the lot but was very sour at times from what i think tasted like pickle/ vinegar.
the beef cheek for all of us was our least favorite and almost went untouched, we found it way too strong in an unpleasant beefy flavor, i’m not a huge fan of beef cheek so i probably should have ordered something else. the apple salad was nice and so was the yoghurt parfait however i had higher expectations and was expecting to be wowed. service was great and the manager did come over to chat to us about the food. sorrypolperroi’m sure not everyone dislikes your food but unfortunately it wasn’t for us.

i’ve always likedpolperrobut this visit was not amazing. i found the cheese board overpriced $30 for 3 cheeses and meat was a separate board at $36 a board so all up $66 for some meat and cheese plus a 15% surcharge for the long weekend. wish we were warned that if you get the meat board watch out because the wasps will be out to get you. literally could not enjoy our meat charcuterie at all because so many wasps kept landing on it and buzzing around us which was really scary if you don’t want to be stung. we ended up rushing to finish the meat just so the wasps would stop harassing us. on top of this we asked to be moved to the patio outside the restaurant when no one was sitting there and there were so many empty seats but were told no that they were reserved for the restaurant diners. felt like second class citizens for not being able to access this area even though we were also paying customers just very let down about the whole experience.

we went topolperrofor lunch yesterday and enjoyed a lovely afternoon of warm ambiance, attentive staff and impressive food. there was quite a raucous group seated behind us who would have benefited from being in a function room but other then that the only other blip was that they ran out of sourdough.

we started with the most delicious of lamb cutlets which was perfectly pink and yummy king salmon with goats cheese on lavish. i was disappointed with the excessive presence of chorizo on so many dishes given i do not eat pork. we also ordered a potato mille feuille that was recommended and when i asked what a particular ingredient listed on the menu was i was told it was the ‘creamy element’.

thankfully when another server brought it out he referred to it as chorizo cream when explaining the dish. all of the food was stunningly presented and the flavours of apple impressed me most of all for its uniqueness and theatrical smoke show.

we finished the day with a cellar door wine tasting as the fee was waived given we had lunch. i also recommend starting with a drink outside so you can take in the scenery and relaxing atmosphere. an enjoyable day out

my entire experience arpolperrowas wonderful. the food was delicious and the service was lovely, not to mention the beautiful view of the winery itself. i highly recommend the kanagroo tartare entrée, the barramundi main and for dessert, the fennel seed cake.
i am keen to come back to try out their picnic menu where you are given a pinic blanket, a basket of food and the opportunity to explore the grounds of the winery yourself.

have eaten here for lunch and dinner and i just love the styling and ambience at this chic bistro. new chef means new choices on the menu, all delicious but suggest you go for early dinner booking if you want to make sure you don’t miss out on the scrumptious sounding pop corn snack or the fennel pollen cake for dessert both of which were out for 8.30pm booking. we were lucky though that we managed to sneak in some cake the next day after a wine tasting. perfect for romantic couple date night and also a small dining group. recommend sharing few entrees but definitely get your own main, too yummy (and pretty) to share. ps the duck is the most instagramable of the main dishes and pairs perfectly with thepolperropinot hehe

beautiful setting, tasty food but terrible service. we were excited to head topolperrofor family lunch, but left feeling disappointed. despite booking we were left waiting for a table & once seated we had to chase the waitress constantly for menu’s, wine, water etc. we were at first sympathetic as they seemed understaffed, but even when the crowd thinned out, the service remained poor. would recommend rare hare overpolperrofor sure.

had a beautiful lunch at polperro, lovely room and there are also tables on the outside decking overlooking the vineyards. food was great especially the shared barramundi dish served with crispy shallots, red curry sauce & black rice. had a lovely bottle of thepolperrochardonnay and the service was excellent. perfect for a long sunday lunch for couples or groups. picnic baskets are also an option to dine amongst the vines.

a day trip down topolperrobistro down on the peninsula, we went down with a group of friends on a beautiful sunny day. due to our group size, we were required to get a banquet which was a mixture of mains, shared dishes and sides from the menu.

this place is actually amazing! from the beautiful facade and location of the restaurant to the chic, stylish and elegant design of the decor. open and spacious in layout with a great contrast of colours between the interior design and exterior landscape. this is truly one of those establishments that have really thought of not only the visual experience of the food and interior decor but also that of the experience you could have on the grounds before and after you've eaten.

in saying that, it only takes one moment to ruin the day. we had a few vegos with us so before going to polperro, we had made sure to confirm by phone that there would be subs adequate for the $85.0 cost. we were assured that there would, as this was pretty standard however, we had some pretty upset vegos as they only got one entree and one main. we later found out they ordered vegetarian because they were pregnant!

the meat eaters had a few options for entrees and another few choices for mains. we suppose it would've been fine if vegos didnt have to pay the $85.0 banquet price too but, well... no, they did have to pay and to top it off, we had a taste of what they had and it wasn't anything to write home about. you'd think they had some vegetarian meals under wraps seeming as it is very prevalent these days to have vegetarians and vegans dine in *face palm*. also at such a reputable and well rated establishment, this should be standard. perhaps it would have made sense if the meals or sides brought out were sufficient for vegos to eat? after a few words with the staff, we just paid and left. at this point, any food eaten that was actually good, just left a bitter taste in our mouths. maybe we should've just told them that they were pregnant? but should we have to?

we would actually love to come back here and see what it's like without a group especially with such a beautiful establishment. we've read a few other reviews ofpolperroand it seems that where there is a group involved, polperrodon't do so well. we'll give you an update if we do, and actually take photos (or rather keep them and not delete before posting). till next time, this is our foodie find!

arrived atpolperroafter being given a picnic lunch as a gift. what a great gift the experience was more than i expected. the weather was kind. sitting down by the dam surrounded by others enjoying the picnic offerings was a great out from the daily grind of work.
be sure to grab a bottle of their pinot gris (even keel) to complement the food.
do yourself a favor and check this place out. if the picnic isn’t something that interests you hang around the restaurant as there looks to be plenty going on there as well. as arnie would say “l will be back”

had an amazing lunch atpolperroon saturday.  this was mr b's special birthday lunch and i needed something a little romantic and gourmet for the occasion. polperrooffered an appetising menu and beautiful location so i booked us in for a late, long lunch!  due to the extremely hot weather on the day, our pre-lunch activities were cancelled so we turned up at the bistro in the hope that we could be accommodated an hour early.  fortunately, even though our table wasn't ready, we were seated in a very pleasant, shaded outdoor space, where we ordered drinks and whiled away the time relaxing on deck chairs.  once the table was ready we were taken into the dining room and our table for two, which was situated in front of the window overlooking the estate.

for starters mr b & i orders the white anchovies with oven roasted tomato on a crispy tortilla and the cured salmon, créme fraiche, blinis to share.  the blinis took a little while to arrive after the tortillas, but both dishes were thoroughly enjoyed.  beautifully crafted morsels!  for second course we ordered the cured scallops with watermelon, daikon, kaffir lime and black sesame.  this dish was delicately presented and tasted just as good as it looked.  a brilliant combination of flavours and textures.  for main we ordered the king prawns in kimchi butter, korean chilli and sam's lemons with a side of the grilled corn with manchego, sour cream and lime.  again another fantastic looking platter with plenty to eat.  prawns probably not as flavourful as i would have imagined, but certainly a great dish that was enjoyed by both of us.  after a reasonable break, we order dessert which consisted of iced lattes, the exquisite dark chocolate mousse with red hill cherries and whisky gel and a plate of the brie with crackers and fruit paste...all of which were amazing!  the mousse was to die for!  the whisky gel blew mr b away and nothing beats fancy, room temperature brie!

absolutely wonderful lunch experience. what i loved about this place was while it was fancy, the staff and ambience were relaxed. they made mr b's birthday lunch a special one.  highly recommended for a slightly upmarket special occasion, with beautiful food and beautiful views.

the first time i visitedpolperrofor wine and cheese on the deck i knew i needed to come back for a restaurant meal. was disappointed. the food is share style, but not conducive to a group with one vego so i had to order my own. everything was so salty i drank about a liter of water throughout the meal. the service was just ok. only saving grace really was the dessert was yum.

pole position.polperrois a charming fishing village in cornwall and an equally picturesque winery on the mornington peninsula. the latter is a lot easier to get to and now boasts accommodation as well as a restaurant, cellar door (polperro & even keel labels) & gorgeous grounds with the option of catered picnics in romantic wicker baskets.

i was the fortunate guest of a friend with a generous family. they had given her a big voucher to spend atpolperroto celebrate a big birthday. with a 6pm booking at dinner, we made our way topolperrofor a lazy afternoon tasting before 5pm, followed by casual drinks on the terrace overlooking the gum trees, vineyard and dam. the food is really good - the charcuterie plate, kingfish ceviche & cheese plate were all wonderful. the desserts were less interesting to me but my friend enjoyed hers - a deconstructed combination of flavours including white chocolate, matcha & cocoa nibs. the wine list traverses more than just the estate's own bottles, with an excellent range reasonably priced.

service was more patchy - possibly due to the relatively young floor staff and large numbers of guests. we spent the pleasurable hour between 5pm & 6pm looking over the stunning scenery having ordered a bottle of even keel sparkling. but each time we were asked for more drinks, and indicated we had a bottle on the go, the staff walked off rather than find said bottle and refill our glasses. after the third time, we explicit asked for more wine to be poured, which seems an unnecessary requirement as a diner.

at dinner, we almost received another table's meals, and one dish we ordered was mistaken for another, but replaced quickly. we had plenty to eat so missing out on bread at the start of the meal wasn't a major issue but was another lapse. in a more memorable experience, l loved the friendly and energetic winery dog!

came topolperrowith a group of friends for australia day and had a great day. such a beautiful estate with gorgeous decor and of course, views. firstly we started in the dining area where we ordered food to share (images below) the lamb was by far the best. cooked to perfection. the potatoes nice and crispy and the seafood soup dish was also a winner. we had a pilot gris with our meal and it was fantastic wine. after dinner we followed through to the garden where there was wine tasting and music. this wouldn't happen regularly as it was not event for the day but a truly beautiful venue and was able to appreciate it.

everything was amazing! after tossing and turning searching for the right winery to take my boyfriend as a surprise for his birthday as soon as i discoveredpolperroi knew straight away this is perfect and im glad i chose this place. being winter we were lucky enough to have a bit of sun but either way the atmosphere made it cosy with its open fire that rain or shine it was perfect. the staff were amazing best ive seen in awhile always making sure we were looked after.
we had the lamb shoulder, im speechless at how amazing this meal was! and also surprised at the serving.

i look forward to going back again and bringing more people. thanks for a wonderful timepolperroteam.

on the eve of j’s wedding, we headed topolperrofor what we hoped would be a relaxing evening and a light meal before the big day.   the restaurant is set on a beautifully picturesque property reminiscent of a ngv oil painting. there are other details such as the fairy lights in the car park, fur throws draped across the chairs, and tall candles at the tables which all were subtle hints of casual luxury.   we had the casual part of the look down pat when we turned up in our comfy flat shoes and snuggly warm tops. on any other day, i think our outfits would have fitted right in, especially amongst the t-shirt and shorts uniform donned by the staff.   however on that particular night, we entered a car park full of luxury 4wd’s contended with some rather well-heeled patrons, which we surmised to be the portsea polo set as the event was scheduled for the next day.   as a result, the place was packed to the rafters. it was also a wet evening and the outdoor seating area couldn’t be used. even though we had made a booking, we were seated at a table in the middle of the restaurant that did not have a fur throw draped across any one of our chairs… i felt the onset of some feelings, of the negative variety. there was also no tall candle at our table.     for food, we decided to share a number of things as we were peckish but not quite starving. the salmon roe was a nice starter and i enjoyed the cute little pikelets that it was served with. a caviar spoon would have been useful as the slippery roe is rather awkward to scoop up with either a knife or a fork.
