plough hotel

thursday diner. we were at the plough on thursday night. great place in terms of deco but very very noisy. we found some of thestaffespecially the tall "welcoming" malestaffrude and patronising. he came to our table towards the end of the night and taunted us. we did not deserve it! we had to wait over 1 hour for our food. the food was average and certainly not worth the money we paid. we won't return.

great food, patchy service. i love the plough, it's my local and the food/vibe is great in a nice atmosphere. but recently some of thestaffseemed to have been bitten by the arrogant bug, forgetting they are in the west not some trendy hipster joint. if only this could change i'd give the plough 10/10 every time.

i come here nearly week and it is always good , there are a few things that aren’t consistent every time i go so that’s why they don’t get the full 5 stars . one of the newstaffmember waiters he is fantastic at his job , very funny and very knowledgeable .

good food, friendly staff. we've been to the plough hotel 3 times in the past few months and have been happy with it every time. thestaffare very friendly and smiley, as well as accommodating of dietary requirements. the decor is very smart and neat, the place is child friendly with highchairs and baby change facilities, and it has always been absolutely packed in both the dining and bistro parts - definitely worth booking ahead of time. my only complaint about the plough is that can be very, very loud when all the tables are full.
the food is mostly pretty good. i love the zucchini pizza, was a little disappointed with my veggie burger (i found the burger part to be a bit bland) and thought the chicken parma was ok. the wine list looks fantastic, although i'm pregnant at the moment so haven't been able to give the wine list a good test yet! my partner was impressed with the good choice of beers, particularly the representation of local victorian beers on the drinks list.
despite having been a little disappointed by a couple of menu items, the zucchini pizza really won me over, and we like the place enough to come back and keep trying the other delicious sounding items on the menu.

whilst you wouldn't expect it from the outside, the plough hotel is excellently presented from the inside. over the last few years they have done a modern update which gets my tick of approval. i have eaten here on a few occasions and have been impressed with the quality of the meals and the excellent manner in which thestaffhave presented themselves. my favourite thing on the menu has to be the pork fillet. i can't wait for my next experience at the plough hotel

consistently fantastic. i live round the corner and everytime i go to the plough the food is excellent. tonight i made a mess, accidentally spilling my wine and thestaffwere so helpful and friendly. this place is one of the best pubs in the west for sure

love this place. we took the kids for mother's day dinner. we had the charcuterie plate and some other share plates and all were at a higher standard than you might expect at even an upmarket pub.staffare local and genuine and looked after everything despite being fully booked. add in the great beer and wine list and i wish i could clone this place and replace most of the pubs in melbourne.

overpriced & pretentious menu, unfriendly staff!. i ordered fish & chips, the fish was nice - all 3 little pieces of it. chips were terrible and tasted like frozen ones. ridiculous piece of iceberg lettuce on plate was pointless. paid $38 for a bottle of wine from....sunbury. way over priced!!! somestaffwere nice but others were miserable, sour faced bitches and totally ruined our experience. will we be back? no way!!

pretty decent ambiance, not pricy, amazingstaffand some delicious food you can hog on! had pork belly with mountain goat! well presented,had so many textures! crispy skin is absolutely on point! if i go back to australia, will visit surely! give it a go guys!

first meal out following the sixth lockdown in melbourne and they did not disappoint. the food was delicious,staffwere friendly and the cocktails were great. such a good spot in the west. would recommend!

thestaffare amazing in this place absolutely amazing. we went for my sister's 50th birthday the food was great the service was great but my god this place is just way way too loud. there is no carpet just wooden floors and there is nothing on the walls to absorb the sound and our table of 7 we could only speak to the person in front of us and beside us it was just too noisy. it didn't help that there a table of 8 men behind us who were quite clearly drunk yelling and swearing. i was disgusted at the fact that the table beside us let their kids climb all over the booth seats near the windows, put their dirty hands all over the windows and then the mother decided to take her 4 month old babies nappy off and change it on the seat next to us while we were having dinner and that spoiled and our night. the way the kids did whatever they want it i felt like i was eating in mcdonald's, not in a restaurant. it was a shame such a special occasion like my sister's 50th birthday was spoilt by such behaviour. once again full credit to thestaffwho do an amazing job

great place to get a really good steak! pretty decent ambiance, not pricy and amazingstaffand some delicious food you can try.  the eye is always on point and also tried the pork belly scallop entree. everything was good. definitely will be coming back.

i went to this hotel today. i ordered one coffee and a beer. thestaffsaid the beer is on happy hour and costs only $8. he, the staff, did not tap on with my credit card in front of me. later i found that he charged me $17 for $8 beer & a coffee. i asked him if that’s right. he said the cost includes coffee... $17 -$8 beer = $9 coffee?! he pushed me $5 note away with no apology when i was handing my credit card to him. he became nasty when we asked for some water.
everybody makes mistakes. i’m alright about that as long as they apologise. why he had to be nasty to us? i didn’t complain or say any nasty words to him at all. his attitude was absolutely not acceptable and made me even feel dodgy.
plz check your receipt everyone!

have been coming here since it reopened in 2013 and spent many sunny afternoons in the now closed beer garden. it is, hands down, the best gastro pub in the west.

the menu is regularly updated and there defiantly isn't a lack of choice at the bar.

their changing specials are always worth a look and the steamed brown ale chocolate pudding on the desert menu is brilliant.

all that with the added joys of their brilliant front of housestaffand not charging like a wounded bull make it worth the visit.
