pequod's pizza

a visit to chicago helped me clarify the basic types of pizza that are lumped into the "deep dish" category. the basic deepdishstyle is a bowl-style crust, where the bottom and high sides are relatively equal in thickness. another variety adds a layer of dough on top of the cheese - it's called stuffed pizza. finally, pan style is (like the others) cooked in a pan, but with a thicker crust, shorter walls around the edge, and caramelized cheese around the perimeter.

the fourth day in chicago means the fourth (and final!) deepdishpizza: pequod's.the process to get here was crazy. all of a sudden, it just starts downpouring, and we're racing through the streets of chicago with water is pooling up at every corner. the wind was whipping and easily tossed my hyatt-borrowed umbrella inside out. once we finally reach the restaurant, my jeans were soaked up to my knees, and i could not longer feel anything in my shoes besides just wet.deepdishpizza will fix this.

our group decided to come here to try chicago deepdishover the regular giordano's. service was great and so was the pizza. it was super busy late on a saturday night but they will still able to seat (all 15 of) us. pizza was as cheesy and saucy as expected while the crust still remained crispy. i wouldn't say i prefer it over regular pizza but i'm glad i tried it - and here of all the places i could have :) 4.5 stars

different delicious pizza, we normally get take out and order custom pizza. ingredients are always fresh and pizza has less cheesy than normal deepdishstyle pizza place.

extraordinary pizza. fabulous. not finished or under done, incredible garnishes and its pretty sensibly evaluated i'd state. the hold up was long, around 60 minutes, yet the staff was so neighborly and the bell comes to over the road so you can hold up at the barns and noble. additionally, did i say the pizza was incredible? profounddishtends to set aside a long opportunity to cook right and they were certain that it would require some investment for flawlessness. not very oily. great bar.

i just went to the pequod's pizza location on clybourn in chicago and i can truly say that i have found the best pizza in chicago. when i mean the best pizza, i mean that have the best original deepdishstyle pizza that is talked about all over the nation. i have tried pizza in new york and los angeles and i truly believe pequod's to have the best. i love the atmosphere, although i do have to say it's a bit like a bar and i had my 12 year old daughter with me. that being said, the staff was absolutely amazing and made me and my party feel completely comfortable and made the experience really great! i would highly recommend this place to everyone wanting to get an authentic deepdishchicago pie.

the pizza at this place is beyond words. it has a blast of flavor with that warm and cheesy goodness. i have never had a pizza that packed so much flavor in it. i loved this pizza. i did not even need to out on those extra peppers, or parmesan. the pizza came to me with the most amazing flavor i could ever imagine. i had a deepdishpizza and it was probably the best i have ever had. it was not only the food that was really good, it was the whole environment. i loved how amazing the place felt and i liked how noisy it was. i usually do not like a lot of noise, but it just seemed fitting at this place. i hope to come back here the next time i am in chicago.

best deepdishin chicago, which may mean it's the best on the planet. caramelized crust made this pizza especially unique in comparison to other deepdishpies.

this place was great! i visited chicago with some family members and we heard about pequods so we had to try it and i loved it. we all wanted different toppings and they had a perfect personal size deepdishpizza. i thought it was some of the best pizza i've ever had. the cheese was caramelized on the edges and the crust was nice and crispy. it was delicious. i would definitely recommend

that parmesan crust :d a great deepdishexperience. the sauce is on point and the italian meatballs on top are perfect. highly recommend a visit.

my review might be colored by the fact that the pizza at pequod's was the very first deepdishi'd had, but i absolutely loved it!
i was in chicago for the holidays, to visit friends, and someone suggested pequod's for proximity reasons. although i did get to have deepdishpizza again during my stay, and from a different place, there's no way i can compare that and pequod's.
how do you describe deepdishpizza? let me just say that i understand why it's called a "pie" now. in fact, that's how i can best describe it - a very tomatoey, very cheesy, very meaty pie, with a hot, crisp crust!
we went for a medium sausage pizza to be shared by 4, and underestimated how large and heavy it will be. it took 45-50 minutes to prepare, but two slices, and i was done!
don't get there when you're extremely hungry, because in all likelihood, there's gonna be a line when you get there, and then the wait for the pizza. but man the pizza is amazing!

amazing deepdishpizza. relaxed atmosphere. staff is super friendly. the overall price for the quality of food is unheard of. you must come here for authentic chicago deep dish.

please don't eat here - simply put, i would like to keep this place all to myself, making it my very own deepdishmecca. 

pequod serves, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the best deepdishpizza you'll ever eat. their vegetarian pizza sets the standard for all veggie pizzas.

go early. go often. just don't ruin it for me...
